  1. Ok just been looking at my engine and took the air box out for inspection and it seems as though the filter is soaked in petrol. not sure but it did smell like old fuel (but then thats what iduction pipes smell like anyway.) but the filter seems soaked! It's a 16V so I have no idea with this engine (I am a G40 man!) so any help would be appreciated.
  2. Not wanting to burst anyones bubbles but I have heard stealth racing's rollers are abit optomistic. I don't know having not been there my self but I know club G40 had a rolling road day there last year and then at club polo's rolling road day ppl came out with 10-20 BHP down from the stealth readings! Still I would'nt mind a little more poke from the 16v so if the rumours are true let me know.

    Noisy Fuel Pump?

Yeah mine is really noisey at the moment on my 16v. Just bought it last week but for the price I don't mind having to change it as it was a good price and a fuel pump is not going to knock it up to much (I do my own work). It's a high pitched grinding type noise on mine and you can hear it over the engine at idle so yeah I'd say it's gonna give up any time soon on mine!

    Spoiler

Actually I was looking behind my fuse box and saw a blue and white connector just hanging loose not connected to anything so should that be connected to anything? there are also a couple of black connectors disconnected and one red one, my guess is either these have fallen out or they are just there for optional items which I don't have or for another engined model. I'll check the stereo wire but I am sure it was just loose as well.and I'll check the threads for some answers.

    Spoiler

Ok just got my corrado and the only thing in it thats not working is the spoiler(even the sunroof works!). I guess this is a common problem and I bet ppl have answered this loads of times. What is the system that runs it? as far as I can tell it has a relay above the fuse box and a switch then I don't know what happens untill it gets to the back where the motor is. The guy how had it before me said it worked intermitantly but then when he removed the stereo it stopped working all together. so Now I am stuck, I put a stereo back in it and it worked once from the switch and has'nt worked since. Has anyone got a wiring diagram or know of what might be wrong? I have checked the fuse already and thats fine. thanks in advance.
  6. I used to buy PVW but I think it's gone down hil now. I used to just go and buy it straight away but now i look a it in the shop and find that there is nothing interesting in it. not good really. I also HATE their attitude to actual owners of VW's they only like the cars that have been featured or cars that cost the same as a farrari!! This has nothing to do with me being a POLO owner as most of you know they don't like them for some reason, fair enough they are'nt as much of a read as a C or a golf but put a few polo's up against there beloved golfs then they'd find out a thing or two about how quick some of our little polo's are! My car is quicker than alot of cars in there hall of fame and I know many polo's that are as well. Anyway the golf is far better they feature a more mixed rnage and they are a MAG for the Golf which does'nt say much for PVW!! Anyway bitching over...........lol
  7. He he, yeh I saw that and it's abit of a question really. Mine I can only just hit about 58 in second and thats slamming it off the limiter (not good) this is well annoying cos it would be good to get it over 60 in second. This is with the jabba chip which has a reduced limit of 6500 due to the 65mm pulley. I ran a special 8K chip at santapod last year supplied by PSD they had it as a test chip, my charger had work done by them so they trusted it to rev that high, so of course I tried it out and not even at 7500 in second did I reach 80!! although I went over the line in third at 96mph..................lol it was screaming, The rev counter on the G only goes to 7k so it was well weird watching it fly past the redline mark. Anyway I am fitting a seperate oil supply to my charger supplied again by PSD this will allow me to rev my engine higher with out worrying about those mega high oil pressures and surges going through me charger. Mind you I try not to stay in second too long as it just spins in mine..........lol
  8. I am up for a meet soon, I am hating this weather though. Like I said in my last post I will be getting a C soon as a daily runner (yeah more like a second car to mod........lol) but I have just priced up how much it'll cost to get my G up to the 200 BHP mark from PSD, that would be mental but I can buy a C for the price it's gonna cost..............lol. Chris: let me know when the meet is anyway.
  9. Yeah deffinatly, I am off for two weeks so should arrange somic soon, cos I am bored. I can't buy the C for a while as I have just moved out into my new flat.
  10. Although I am not a Corrado owner (yet) I am just north of newcastle and own a G40 , pretty quick as well. I intend on getting a Corrado soon but keeping my G at the same time. Not an awfull lot of dubbers up here I Know a couple from this site and a couple from my own club but thats it.

    Hello

Yay a fellow S.L.A.G member!! hello mate funny seeing you in here, I like you am a big fan of corrado's and plan on getting one soon as I have some money but keeping the G it's just to much fun to get rid of it.
  12. There is one around my area which is nearly standard and he has fit a dump valve! so he goes around every hour of the day raggin it then lifting off just to prove some kind of point (not sure what it is......lol). I just drive through and the G-ladar makes the noises
  13. You can get G50's they look weird though, wel in comparison to the G40/60 which look weird anyway!
  14. hello yeah it was on the road for aboutu 4 months in this period he melted a piston and had it tuned and other things for testing reason's, it's now off the road and has been for about a year and ahalf as he is now building the engine properly, last time I spoke to him he was just putting his custom built gear box back together as he is after some mad ratio's for 1-4th gears then a long 5th. The engine is back in the car I think but there is much to do. Yeah it was a suprise that it created that much power with little work but then you can really feel it kick in it's mad. Yeah once you've been in a G40 you can see why they take off in no time great fun little cars.
  15. Yeah I was just about to say go see pitstop for a charger re-build and porting they do a top job. http://www.pitstopdevelopment.co.uk I got my G40 charger done there and they have done a top job, I got there full blend which is the top end flowing. I have also stuck on a set of their toothed pulleys (65mm) which help belt slippage which beleive it or not there is alot of on the G40's standard set up. so I now get very high boost from 2000 revs up, it sounds mad as well thats the only problem with toothed belts unless you like the noise!! Pitstop are making the toothed blts for the G60 now so should be out soon, also they are makeing the sns chip for the G40 which I can't wait for.
  16. They also have some marked Evo's and jags, I've seen a marked scooby as well. Not good when the cobs have modded cars like that!
  17. lol like the guys said it makes a HUGE difference between which model it is, and they can be seriously quick. But, if it's just a 2ltr turbo then I reckon once you get over the 0-60 you should be able to get up with him but top end I am not sure not had much experience with top end on C's so not sure. I can beat a 2 ltr turbo scooby (from rolling) upto 90 then his more power bigger engine comes in and beats me, my car ain't standard though and can beat alot of Vr's up the strip so not sure. Beware of most of the other ones though cos they are so quick I went in one that had 385BHP and it was serious acceleration not been in anything as quick as that and the noise was immense...........lol I too like both the VR noise and the flat four noise......mmmmmmmmm also a modded G sound is great specially with toothed belts, my charger sings it's head off sounds great.
  18. just thought I'd reply to this cos I have a mate who has binned his G40 g ladar for a turbo, yeah I know it's adifferent and smaller engine (you'd be suprised at how much they put up with though) and he hit so problems. The G40 can get upto 1.1 bar around 15-16psi at tops and the engines are fin with this but this turbo polo ran at just over that and blew a piston. But I must add running at 0.8 bar it put in 185BHP which is pretty high for just a turbo instead of a g-ladar and a few bits here and there but nothing done to the engine. It's getting re-built properly now and may be running over a bar soon so should be interesting but I reckon you'd best be carefull cos turbo's run so hot etc etc there are so many factors. Mind you the superchargers take up a bit of BHP just to turn them just imagine the power it takes to compress the air at 6000 revs!!. Take the big drag cars for example they take 1500BHP to turn the superchargers which is mental but then they put out 1000's of HP. Oh and Myself and my mate with the turbo had a little sprint test my G40 against his T40 and I got away of the line quicker but once that turbo had spun up I had no chance!!!! turbo's are the way for power but man they can be expensive.
  19. I am not hugely experianced with the VR6 but I went in chris vr6nos's Vr with the supercharger and also in his mates whihc does'nt have a charger. I was suprised at the way it acted though I must admit but thats cos I am used to my G-ladar kicking in at 1500-6700 and the torque curve is now pretty flat but does rise abit as it gets higher. Chris's car well once it hits 2500-3000 it just takes off and pulls real strong, it acts abit more like a turbo but thats me saying that cos I am used to my light little car which just takes off straight away. From what I can tell the Vr needs to be reved abit to get going and once they are going they really do go and I'd say yes to a supercharger! turbo's are good but like ppl say you'd have to spend a fortune on engine internals, my mate put a turbo on his G40 , ok not the same as a VR, but still it was a turbo instead of a supercharger and yes the power gains where huge but the engine did'nt like it cos of the extra temps etc so it's now of getting some engine internal repairs and upgrades. Turbos are the way to go for big power but lots of money. paul
  20. No the biggest gains from water injection is no-doubt the cooling effect. The real job of the methanol is actually to stop the water freezing in the winter, but it does cool the air down alot more with the methanol. Methanol has a octane level of 112 and petrol is 90-98 is this right? anyway I have got rolling road day reading without the water injection and with the water injection and they are pretty different!! (ok one place had a bigger cooling fan). You can feel the boost pipes after driving the car hard and they are always cold. Some people think that it's only for stopping the pre-ignition which is totally true as it does but the cooling helps so much. If you add more than 50% methanol then you start to heat the cylinders up which is kinda pointless. I have got a 25litre pail of pure racing methanol which cost me 35 pounds from INTID racing fuels but they charge a handling/delivery fee of about 30 pounds all in it's around 60 quid!! and you don't have to use the methanol all the time.
  21. The engine will be fine just if it's the 2.8 it will be short of a few BHP not sure what the difference is though.

    Bye bye G60

I have so been in the same boat for the past few days. I already have my toy which is a tuned G40 and it's a great fun car to drive it just won't do though for daily driving. So I am looking into getting a corrado and have just decided to store the G40 untill I can afford to make it a track car (it's got the power just not the rest) so I am going to start my corrado plan soon I hope.
  23. Yeah they are scooby eaters they are very fast I see them loads up at crail when i go up. I have the standard throttle bodies off of one sitting in my garage (I was planning on fitting them to my G but now I want a C so not doing that anymore) anyway they are quad 44's very big STANDARD the japs really do know how to do it first time.
  24. Cool hopefully I'll have one to add to that soon. Fingers crossed just putting my car up for sale.
  25. Damn right I've come back home with big smiles on my face. I must admit I would miss the G40 low down punch but once the VR hits the 3500-4000 region it's away and pulling hard mental and the noise. I want one NOW!!!!!.......lol Yeah and a car with brakes would be great unlike mine which has none and wobbles on the little brakes it does have!! Big thanks for letting me have a go in both your cars it was great and really appreciated it's totally made my mind up on whether or not I want one. Now I just need to save to get one then save for a supercharger and some N.O.S. I can't beleive how quick they are and the nos was'nt even on
