  1. Hi,i'll take the drivers side indicator ,what are the headlamp glasses like

    thanks rod

Drivers side indicator sold to rodmax - £5 postage (all items under 2kg come up as £4.41 under royal mail) PM'd

Headlamp glasses are fine - no chips or scratches, work fine, bulbs included - mispriced - meant to be £25 each but will make them 20 posted each as my error.

How does it work when two people ask for the same thing, diarmaid had committed - does that mean he wins? Someone please clarify for me.

What condtion is the dash centre surround where heater controls / head unit is mounted?

It has some very discrete marks where someone had tried to lever out a stereo - otherwise fine, one of the brackets (screwholes) where the heater controls attach i think is cracked but does not affect the fixation. - £20 posted?

I'll have the passenger indicator if its not cracked or chipped, cheers, David.

David - it is chipped, but not cracked, pic below.

Interested in mocal, how many rows ?? any pictures, all fittings included ??

16 row, comes with braided hoses, sandwich plate etc, also i can chuck in the brackets I fashioned for it if you want them? Weight is around 3kg so posted for £88. Pics:

I will take the headlights if they are in good condition. Are they £5 each or is that a misprint?

As above - sorry - was a misprint, will drop from intended price and make it £20 posted each - but not sure who gets first dibs.

  2. Blue smoke = burning oil, unlikely to be a fuel issue, somethings happened in the engine, stem seals, gasket or rings have failed. What engine is it? Check the plugs and see what they look like -are any coated in oil?

  3. So the shell has now gone, still have the front cross member, the slam panel, the bonnet and both bumpers (DBP), and the leather re-trimmed seat set.

Have also got the 5x100 17" BKK 299 with black centres and (once) shiny rims, one needs re-rolling and all have minor scuffing that could be sorted with some sanding.

Accepting offers as want to clear the garage.

Better quality photos of the seats coming soon.

Here is the car before breaking:

  4. i've got to the point where it was going to be around 500 to do the transplant, would need a few other bits and pieces doing, all to sell the car straight afterwards at a time where it wont make what its worth. Was approaching around 100k and quite a lot to do, also lots of custom bits on it which will make more on their own - full re-upholstered interior etc.

Think I can prob make more this way and have the facilities to do it (but not much time so will be a slow process)

Start thinking what bits you might need, apart from the block, everything on the car works, and most of the bodywork is mint!

  5. breaking the car - please contact me on 07980267163 - txts between 0800 and 1700 and calls after 1700 til 2100 only please

See main thread in breaking section.

  6. checked the head - intake valves (ID'd by shining light through intake manifold) are clean as a whistle on the inside on the stems, exhaust valves are manky as hell - think that means it can only be ovaling of the cylinders - which makes it a bottom end rebuild job with boring out - gutted - gonna have to get a loan for a new car in the meantime which i hate doing. Think i might get more money back from breaking it but not sure I have the time. Will look out for a cheap VR6 engine to transplant as that wouldnt be to tricky or time consuming.

Which cars had OBD2 VR6's in them, Golf Mk3s?

  7. how do u check the head, i'm guessing its the valve stem seals you need to have a look at, just remove the cams and bearings etc?

Also, with the block, can you rotate the crankshaft pulley with the chains loose or will i loose the timing - any tips?

  8. how can you check for ovalling without removing the pistons and measuring or is it a diagnosis just made by the fact theres loads of oil, could this just be the gasket having gone at each end or am i just trying to be optimistic?

Is that a leaking gasket - cylinders 1 and 6 look manky, but cant see any scoring - would a gasket leak be enough to cause a misfire?

If i rebuild - guides will need replacing - i am guessing i might as well do chains at the same time??

  10. snapped a few bolts today - two on the exhaust manifold where it joins the down pipes, and one yesterday on the upper intake manifold where it joins the lower manifold - the intake one isnt an issue, but will have to drill through the exhaust ones and put in a new bolt.

Getting there - much better progress now i picked up a breaker bar and a 24mm spanner - thanks for the advice on cam removal kev - i think i owe u a pint when im next in essex!

  11. got stuck at removing the cam chains - no breaker bar or 24 mm open ended spanner. Will pick up breaker bar tomorrow and think neighbor has some large spanners. Pics tomorrow hopefully - unfortunately work starts again now so evenings only.

..oh- and quick question - the serpentine belt, had to remove the belt tensioner as part of the sequence - on the grooved side of the belt, all of the ridges (that are the opposite to the grooves) are cracked every few mm, guessing a new belt is required?

  12. Might be the end of my corrado - somber day this is indeed! If only i had sold it a month ago as planned!

Time to make plans, either invest in it and do necessary rebuild myself with boring by a professional, or break it and make as much as possible on the parts.

Realistically - that seems to be the way i'm headded.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

  13. Thinking of doing a rebuild on mine as not running so well, anyone got any engine internals sat on the shelf that are going nowhere - going to be a standard rebuild (if that exists) so no oversized parts needed.

Please let me know as much info as possible about the parts, make, spec, price wanted etc.

    Tim
