Cool, cheers Kev ;) Where did you get your new one from btw? Got mine from http://www.airmassmeters.com for £48 posted 8)
-
Why couldnt he just have said "Can I help you?" instead of "Can I help you sir?" Perhaps he actually meant you??!! Only kidding
-
Good talking today Gareth, hope you get the car you want ;)
-
You should have said something, they'll never change unless you do.
-
Isnt there a fair difference between changing the fronts to the rears? IE one is a right pain in the arse, the other isnt so bad
-
Cant believe you sold it Gareth :shocl: Must have fetched a good premium me thinks ;) Mk1Campaign you lucky man 8)
-
They look really good mate, the second shot shows the difference in different light quite well too. 8)
-
They look like Torx bits, however they have a round piece of metal in the middle and the Torx wont fit on them. Any ideas?
-
Look nice mate, not quite what I had in mind when you said Black chrome though. 8)
-
What does Black chrome look like then???
-
They'll be awesome!! How much are they costing?
-

Got mine, not a bad read I suppose

What fault codes you getting? Is it a coil pack, or individual coils on the 1.8T?

http://www.airmassmeters.com/ Ive just ordered a new MAF today for the 4mo, and its cost me £48 posted!!! Its just the sensor itself, rather than the housing, so I get to change it myself just like all the other suppliers do. Bargain 8) The air mass meter is located in the engine compartment usually adjacent to the air filter assembly. If you are going to clean the engine compartment of your car and it has a air mass meter, be sure to avoid getting water or degreaser on or around the air flow meter. The air mass meter or sometimes called the air flow meter is used to determine the airflow that is being delivered to your engine. The air mass meter does this by sending an electronic signal to the cars ECU, and so sends the correct signal to the fuel injectors that regulate the amount of fuel that is delivered to the engine. If you are experiencing a hesitation on acceleration or a poor idle, this may be the result of a bad air mass meter. The best way to determine if you need a new air flow meter is to check the computer diagnostic codes. If you are experiencing a repeated failure of your air flow meter this may be due to the fact that you have an aftermarket performance air filter that uses an oil based filter element. This in some cases will damage the mass airflow sensors on newer cars. There are a few major manufacturers of airflow and air mass meters including; Bosch, Delco, Denso and Siemens Air Mass Meters usually fail as a result of water or dirt particles entering the intake tube, therefore it is important to ensure regular cleaning/replacement of the air filter is adhered to. The most common symptoms you will have from a bad air mass meter are low performance and inconsistent or rough idle. We will need the NUMBER that is on your air flow meter or the MAIN DEALER PART NUMBER to be able to match up and supply you with the correct one and quote you a price. Some of our air flow/air mass meters have a 3 year warranty. On some air flow meters we can supply just the inserted sensor. This only applies to the Bosch types. They are really easy to fit just pull of the plug undo the two torx security screws, pull out the sensor and replace with the new one.

Already changed that. Going for coil pack next. On a plus side, it passed the MOT today :D

Aha, guess I'll be at the newsagents tomorrow then. Nice one Gareth ;)

Anyone know what the Vag-Com error code $9C9C means I get it when I try to scan with the engine runing. Its all fine with the engine off, but once started I get the faut code and unable to connect. Ive got an aftermarket lead by the way.
-
Would that cause the lambdas to play up though? No, not much bloody luck, but thats what happens (sometimes) when you buy a cheap car :(

Feature in what??? Do tell

Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression. Anyone got any ideas? Could it be the Lambda's, or the coil pack, or something else????

Drove in to work this morning, been raining all night, felt a little lump under load again and had a flashing engine light again  However, it hasnt stayed on this time, so its not a hard latch fault. Gonna vag-com it again tonight to see the codes. Maybe the coil pack is fooked after all???

Well let me know what you want rid of, and how much £££ and I'll see what I need ;)

I know ;) Its probably cheaper running your Golf though!!
