  1. Looks great Andrew, my favourite corrado colour too 8) Cheers Pete.
  2. i would hazard a guess if its getting onto the serpentine belt then i would say water pump, if you can see the water pump pulley try to give it a wiggle with a screwdriver, if it moves then the bearing has gone and it can begin to leak if its bad, it does usually make a awful noise before it begins to leak though so it may well be the crack pipe/thermo housing as suggested above.
  3. Paul, I was mentioned to Martin about you and your mate who leaves the car at his place 8) , mine still struggles in the same places!, only car ive had that doesnt was my lightweight Impreza RA. 9.10 was because it was damp through to Foxhole, it was that slippery that my Corrado locked up into Hatzenback without the ABS even having a chance to kick in!, my mate who was following in his Elise S1 on Nitrons and RS2's binned it into the Armco behind me (luckilly not bad, he just took some gelcoat off and didnt mark the Armco), i didnt even get a chance to warn him as i was trying to keep the Corrado on the black stuff!!!, the teg was on RS2's with no ABS so i was treading very gingerly until i hit Foxhole where it was dry, as you know, thats just the thing with the Nordschleife, it can be wet ,damp and dry all in the same lap!!!. The Teg through from the carousel was just f***ing awesome.... My mate did prefer driving the Corrado over it though as he thought it was just too oversteery for him, i just loved it and put it to good use.
  4. Loads of pics of our trip here, will update more as and when:- http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/ta ... ng%202010/ Few tasters
  5. Mate, ive done about 170 laps now and i still get a buzz out of it, games dont even scratch the surface of what its like in real life, the gradients & cambers are what will amaze you. Still takes me a couple of laps to get my lines back to something thats passable after a 11 month break, you will take 500 laps i reckon to get it so ingrained in your head that you will have it nailed completely....
  6. Awesome awesome trip weather on Saturday was good after a damp start. Weather on Sunday was pissing down all day!!!!. Monday was wet to start with then dried out but bloody slippery up through T13,Hatzenback and along through flugplatz it was drying but still not 100% until you hit Foxhole, i managed a 9.10 (footage to come) in these conditions................In the Integra     Got loads of video footage to come, we used a GoPro with a windscreen mount so full 1080p. Have to say the Corrado was planted everywhere with just understeer to contend with, the Integra was harder to handle in the poor conditions because the back end was looser than the Corrado, this however suits my driving because i want the adjustability if the car is understeering to tighten its line which the Corrado just wouldnt really do no matter what i did with lift off etc, the only way to get the back end out was to trail brake, the teg would do it just by lifting off. All in all it was a blast, did 4 laps on the Sunday in the rain, had the place to ourselves, did a 12.05 in torrential rain in the Corrado which doesnt sound quick but when i say people were going round in 14 and 16 minute laps it kind of puts how planted the Corrado was into context... Will get pics up later! 8) Cheers Pete.
  7. Nice one YK, 11am is fine mate 8) Look forward to fitting it for you!
  8. Off to the ferry now, Looks like its gonna be a wet one. Good job i fitted RS2's to the Teg and didnt go for R888's!!
  9. Your mate either can't drive or he's got something seriously amiss with his DC2 !. I would imagine a tweaked VR would be with a stock UKDM DC2 but it certainly wouldnt rape one. My JDM car was dyno'd at 208bhp with a few little mods - much the same as the typical things to do with a VR Corrado, that and 1060kg equals quick enough to hold a tweaked VR easily on the straights.3 Regardless, the whole topic was about the Civic Type R, its a shame that potentially the Type R is being dropped regardless of what the current model is like, previous incarnations have been great cars imho..
  10. I agree, the Corrado is the more special car to be in in terms of looks and the cabin, the Honda is awful in this respect but they spent the money where it counts imho, the powerplant and the suspension, when you look at the underpinning of a DC2 versus a Corrado its like night and day. They are both great cars, as a daily i probably couldnt live with the DC2 and its lack of refinement which is also the reason why its so fleet footed, its got nothing in it and as a result it is noisy in comparison to the VR, if i wanted to go out for a blast then the DC2 gives the most feedback and thrills. Daily = Corrado Vr if you have to do any kind of mileage, Thrills = DC2.
  11. In your opinion. I have driven a MK1 CTR and a DC5 integra and they did not change my slant on things at all, least of all the engine, which I never have and never will like in normally aspirated form. I would own a DC5 though (with a turbo conversion), without question, as it's a good all rounder out of the box, but it isn't the paragon of handling that some people make it out to be. It's better than a lot of other cars purely because it has unrelentingly stiff suspension and an LSD from the factory, which is not hard to replicate on other cars. Yes it is my opinion. And after driving a DC2 ITR for some time now it is without doubt one of, if not the best car ive driven as an overall package. Im 37 years old and have driven a fair number of cars on both road and track in my time so i think ive got a fair idea of what a good handling car should feel like by now. You only have to look at the engineering in it in terms of its suspension - ie multilink both front and rear to realise that Honda really knew what they were doing with that car, don't think that can be easilly replicated at all, the EP3 imho is not a patch on the DC2 suspension wise either. Ive never driven another car that is both firm yet has enough compliance in the suspension to aliviate body roll and stay controlled yet still ride bumps well enough to not throw it off line. As for the engine, i guess it depends what you want, personally the fact it is totally Jekyll & Hyde is part of the appeal to me, ive never found it particularly lacking in torque either when compared to a N/A VR, turbocharged, sure it will feel gutless but thats not a fair comparison, on track it where it comes into its own and that is essentially what it is designed for. I hate to say this but it totally runs rings round anything ive ever driven in the same league before, Corrado included. And Kev, if you can show me one other car that compares in the same class please do, ive not found one yet as an overall package.
  12. I agree, the newest model has fallen off the pace somewhat but to me if that is the end of the K20a engine and other high reving honda 4 pots for the forseable then its a crying shame..
  13. Despite what some of you guys think on here, Honda have made some of the best engined hot hatches over the last decade or so, might hurt to accept it but once youve driven something like a EP3 or a DC2 it changes your whole slant on things....
  14. Got a 9 lap ticket ready. I got about 13 laps in last time i was out there in the STI RA over a weekend, doesnt sound like much but its actually quite hard to get loads of laps in on the weekends due to closures and letting the car cool down. Have to say last yr was the most organised in terms of minimising the delays due to accidents, previous yrs they just seemed to shut the whole thing down even for a relatively minor ding, last year they were yellow flagging the area and cones were used around the area and after you were through the accident it was upto full speed again, think there were only about 2 closures over the whole weekend. Oh and the R26R is a awesome piece of kit, bearing in mind Luke my mate who has never driven one we got a 8.20btg on his 2nd lap,we've all got about 150 laps experience now. I managed a 8.40btg in my RA, obviously you have to remember that you want to drive it home afterwards, hope i can get around 9mins in the Corrado. Got lots of video and photo equipment going out this yr so we will see what we can do. Got a friend with a Honda'd S1 Elise coming out who does low 8's and meeting a dutch guy with a Honda'd S2 who does 7.45 or thereabout, thats seriously quick!, gonna get a pass lap in that for sure!! You stayed in the burgstube a few times too then Paul??, yeah great hotel. My mates went on a european bike tour in May/June and called into see Martin & Heidi for a couple of days on the way back, he gave them our usual 4 bed room even though it was just the two of them, Touristfahren was cancelled on the day due to some people with too much money deciding they wanted to buy out the evening sessions!!!, so Martin,Heidi,my two mates and a load of other guys were going out of town every night to eat together, made to feel really welcome and had a great time anyhow.
  15. Off to the Ring for 5 days/4 nights, leaving friday early. Anyone else heading out there this yr? 17 of us staying at the Hotel Burgstube, we stay there all the time now thanks to some great hospitality from the owners Martin & Heidi, dont know if anyone else has stayed there before but ive only had great experiences with them 8). Im driving a Teg DC2 that i bought for my mate who lives and works in Singapore now, he rented a R26R last yr from Dale at RSR but it was 600 euro for 6 laps and the excess is something like 12k euro's!. I suggested i could buy him a car for the 3 days he can get laps in and he would save himself a fortune, deal was done!! My good mate is driving my VR out, got a few bits left to do - fluids mainly, but she's pretty much there. Maybe ill see some of you out there?? Cheers Pete.
  16. they will be for sale if your interested... BUT, 2 are scuffed, 1 all the way round by yours truly :gag: they are 550 new without tyres. I was going to get them refurbed and sell them for 450, but i would probly sell them as they are for 300 so i dont have to bother getting them sand blasted and powder coated. They got tyres still buddy? Send me some pics via message save cluttering up the thread.
  17. Hankook V12 Evo's or Hankook RS2 if you fancy something a little bit more track focused but still good in the wet. Parada's are good in the dry but awful in the damp which is something to consider in this country!!
  18. What you doing with the Rota's?, i might be interested if you do sell them on funds permitting when you decide to let them go!

    who has A/C

From memory yours has never worked properly though has it? And its down to who has fitted it as to how neat it is, mine you can hardly tell its in the bay as i took alot of time with pipe runs etc...
  20. Harry, run it in conjunction with the OEM heat exchanger so that they supplement each other, i think you can either mount it in the wheelarch or otherwise mount it up in front of the radiator, you will need approx 1.5m of hose for each line at a guess. Its also a good idea to remove the stock heat exchanger and give it a good clean out with a pressure washer, the amount if crud that builds up inside is unreal, also it might be a good idea to buy the two little hoses from VW that feed the heat exchanger as the will be soft with age and heat.
  21. Nice one! Rota force's will look a tad better!!
  22. Unfortunately it seems Dom the previous owner was definitely a style over substance man, i thought you had thrown those awful wheels and tyres away by now!!

    who has A/C

Im sure your more than capable of doing it yourself!! Its a bit of a pig, best thing is to buy a donor vehicle complete with it fitted, you can use a Mk3 Golf as long as its got the diavia kit retrofitted, its exactly the same... That way you will know it works and that its complete and you can see how it come apart..

    who has A/C

Why dont bother?, plenty of cars have Air Con and dont have pump failure. Personally id rather not be sweating my tits off inside a car and having to get buffeted by the wind if travelling at speed especially on a long journey, if youve got kids its almost a necessity imho.... Ive fitted it to my car, got a few teething problems but i will be sorting it when i get back from Germany, i dont want to be without air con in any car now ive had it before....
  25. If its a EK9 Type R then yes, if its the later 2002 ish onwards one then they are different, the seats are the same as the DC2 Integra Recaro's, they are superb, dont think ive sat in a better seat for either road or track...
