  1. stunning, utterly stunning. I just spent the last 20mins going through all 18 pages of this post....its the cats c*ck mate! I wish i had the money and dedication to get mine to that standard, good on you, its comitment like yours that helps make the scene what it is.
  2. woah! how helpful are Scotford! very impressed!
  3. at the width you had darren yeah! worth the work though....
  4. IMO BBS wheels look a bit small in a 15", its the spokes! *braces for the backlash from that comment* if you're after a retro rim try Borbets or Azevs, both do some 'modern' rims and some really nice old school ones too. as for offets, i just bought a set of borbet c's in a 16" et35, I've been told a 5mm spacer should get them to fit nicely in the arches, I 'think' most people say et30 is the ideal. azev A's borbet A's 8)
  5. dont think you've got anything to worry about mate, they look nice! like you say few too many ridges in the glass stops it being perfect, but it looks a hell of alot better!
  6. cheers, i think I'm going to stick with the spare sebring for now as an 'emergency' wheel or try and find a 16" spacesaver from a scrappys., £140 was pushing the boat out a bit at the moment where my cash is concerned, but it was just too much of a good deal to resist!
  7. oh hang on, they're not et30, they're 35! any revised spacer ideas?
  8. spiggot rings? :? ta for the tipoff, i was just going to slap them on and hope for the best! whos this Scotford then? (or what if its not a who!)
  9. you wernt bidding too were you randal? ;)
  10. yup henny ;) cheers for the help! it was your avatar picture that swung it for me! yum! these are et30's so I'll need some spacers like you suggested....what width do you recon? 6mm?
  11. hey i dont care about dirty tyres, probably put people off bidding! do you recon its worth trying to sell my standard sebrings? do they fetch much in a scruffy state? 3 good tyres! :S
  12. after watching this for the full 5 days i just won.... bargain or what? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2488881171
  13. ;) yup mate, the 2/3rds rule! something i try to apply when i can, but in this case i just snapped off a few without thinking really. they do look a hell of a lot better though! 8)
  14. :) hardly! I do like a spot of photograph though, and my C generally annoys me (to photograph) because from some angles it can look REALLY odd! its hard to capture the low/wide impression it gives in real life. anyway, theres some more of my happy snaps here: http://www.chris-hill.co.uk/photos.html
  15. ok, on the drive home, braking from 90 down to 60 and theres LOADS of vibration coming through the wheels :( is that just down to the brakes needing time to settle in? oh and dont think I was being a loonatic by driving at 90 on new brakes, it was on a very very quiet bit of dual carrageway with no other cars about and i just wanted to 'test' them a bit.
  16. ended up £120 all in for discs and pads on the front. it was 'powertrain' not powertech...not as bad as i thought thankfully. funny thing was the guy told me to give myself some extra time when braking to let them bed in, tried them and from cold without any bedding in what-so-ever they're WAY better than what was on before anyway!
  17. good point hutchy! didnt think of that. cheers chaps, helpful as ever!
  18. just a quickie, I'm looking at some 2nd hand 16" rims but theres only 4 of them, so what can I do for a spare without buying a new rim matching the 2nd hand ones? :? what does everyone else do?
  19. bumcakes! he said they use 'powertech' or something simular for pads and disc's, looks like I've got a big bill coming my way very shortly :(
  20. ok, i took it to a little place round the corner and explained the problem and the sort of noise its making (metal on metal grindy sound) and the guy said it sounds like i'll need disc's too. does that sound right or am i about to get ripped off?
  21. hehe, sarcasam doesnt come over too well when you're typing does it  I just couldnt think of any other places that would do it off the top of my head! cheers for the link to that howto dinkus! I'll have a butchers and see if i can cope :S its pi**ing it down today so i'm getting a bit concerned about having working stoppers, might have to bite the bullet and pay to get it done before I have a prang :(
  22. I know mine need doing ASAP as the front driver side one is making some nasty noises, being a novice and not having felt confident in doing any sort of mechanical stuff to previous cars, is changing them easy? I'm a bit wary, I mean, brakes are fairly important things and if i mess it up I could do myself an injury! anyone give me a basic guide? or should i leave it to the 'pros' at kwikfit or somewhere simular?
  23. I think once its been lowered I'll take it to a little underground carpark i know and get a few 'urban' shots bit more mean and moody rather than tranquil and scenic!
  24. lupo wipers! I 'love' being able to see in the rain!
  25. its a bit late now you've got it all sorted but.... I wrote off my last car, an 11 month old astra SXI which I paid roughly 11k for. They decided it was a total loss and offered me 7k. £7000!!! I know new cars depreciate quickly but come on! there was NO way i could buy another one the same condition for that price, and I proved it by faxing them 8 pages of results from autotrader and vauxhall's network Q website with every relivant example highlighted. I got a call back that afternoon offering me just under 9k, which again I insisted wasnt enough. Eventually I got the guy on the phone to admit that £9500 was the absolute limit to what they could pay out before it was worth repairing the car rather than writing it off, and we settled on a sum just less than that. IIRC his words were 'If we offer you £9300 will that be the end of it?' :) I'd been on the phone to him 4 times that day asking if he'd looked at the fax and trying to argue the toss over the payout so i think he was a little sick of me! I think thats the way you have to play it with insurers, hasstle the f**k out of them until you get what you want and never ever accept the offer until they either shout at you for irritating them or you get to a price you're happy with! oh and redlee - try 'greenlight' insurance (google for them, i cant find the number!) they came out a full £300 less than anyone else on my quote!
