  1. still loving your car mate, which is good i suppose since you could argue mine looks very simular! ;) dont think mines as clean though, good effort!
  2. well if its worth doing, its worth doing right! ;)
  3. i got my valver resprayed for around £700 notes too, which included colour coding everything in sight and came out shinier than I could have ever hoped! i did have a couple of silly £1500 quotes too, just have to shop around and make sure you see other work before you get yours done. worth it though, nothing like giving it a good ol' wax and polish on a sunday!
  4. i'd just spray it, that colour looks superb all polished up!
  5. its man vs carpet in an all out sprint, some of those shagpiles can really shift! oh yeah, its traditional for the crowd to encorage the competitors by shouting 'underlay! underlay!'..... i'll get me coat :(
  6. I've found the corrado has a bit of a legendary status with alot of people, along the lines of how some people feel about the skyline, and how people 'used' to react to scoobys when you didnt see quite so many as you do now. It seems like people know of them and hold them in high reguard, or have never heard of them at all! I feel like i'm letting the car down every time I discribe it as "a sort of golf coupe" to people who dont know about it. I might take to carrying an 8x10 photo instead...
  7. and remember to get this thread deleted before you put your advert on the forum
  8. get a quote for the respray, is it less than what you think you'd have to knock off the price if you didnt get it done? sadly you're either going to loose out by selling it cheaper, or loose out by having to get the respray done. off topic - selling already?
  9. nah mate, didnt have a clue! I just used google!
  10. introducing..... Mr David Spashett - carpet racing champion! (seriously! :?)
  11. I'd suggest you have a look at the dampers at the same time mate, not sure how shorter springs effect them but i cant imgine it doing them much good...might be worth spending a bit more and changing them at the same time along with top mounts and bump stops, that way you'll know for sure your suspension is in tip-top condition and you wont have to strip the struts off twice!
  12. i'm sure its inxx who make the twin lifters too rob, i had a single one on my valver and it worked great in terms of lifting up the bonnet, but didnt really offer any advantage in terms of access to the engine as it still got in the way.
  13. as far as I can tell from looking at classic car mags in the news agents while trying not to be spotted glancing up at the top shelf, a classic is anything thats old, has enthusiasts and was considered 'quite good' at the time. on that basis both cars in all guises will become classics, but i've no idea which will be more desirable. to me, the corrado.
  14. mines down 60mm with a 90mm spoiler, i drive over 5 sets of speedbumps to get out of my street every morning and so long as I'm careful it doesnt catch. The only time it does is in multistories, which I avoid anyway most of the time!
  15. Nassur Hussain (or however its spelt!) had one didnt he? I was on the same degree course as a lass who appeared in the TV advert for Teesside uni, she had a corrado.... ok so that maybe doesnt count :D
  16. try ECP or GSF, they might do the springs at a better price. If i was you though i'd be looking at replacing the dampers for some shortened ones to accomodate the shorter springs, and going very slowly over speedbumps ;)
  17. 968 vs corrado? i think i'd be the 968 in most peoples eyes since its a porsche and automatically inherits classic status. out of the range of corrados, its hard to say, storms will be sought after as they are now and there will probably end up being far fewer g60's than vr6's making them a bit rarer. I suppose it depends how you're deeming something to be 'more' of a classic than something else.
  18. see the stickied lupo wiper thread mate...
  19. I'm pretty good at getting the seats back in their runners... :? once again my paranoia over these cars makes me think something thats perfectly fine is broken...ho hum at least i know how to adjust it in future if i ever need to!
  20. yeah its about 5mm or so play....maybe it was in the right place all along! :( just after washing it at the weekend i noticed the headlining was damp around the gap, have to keep an eye on it and use some of the ever-useful sticky felt to subdue the rattle!
  21. yeah i did the electrical reset, I can get the steel panel to sit flush just fine, but if I do that the inner one has enough up/down movement in it on the back edge that water could get in. I've managed to get it to line up correctly, its just the inner panel and the steel panel seem to be misaligned. I'll try a combination of those torx bolts and general fiddling tonight and see if i can get it a bit better than it is, ta! just to clarify, the inner panel I'm talking about is the smaller central tea-tray sized cutout that moves up with the sunroof when it tilts, not the entire lower sliding panel.
  22. do a search for bonnet lifters, mine used to have little ones either side of the bonnet (removed before i bought it) and i took some photos of where the bolts attach. IIRC they're lifters intended for a mk3 golf sold by euro car parts and they work just fine! I plan on getting some back on when funds allow...
  23. which is the faster again? :? that always confused me! anyway, if the VT(whichevers faster) is 120-130bhp, as I said its still 40bhp down on a clio 172 and must weigh roughly the same. Not saying you're not right as I've never seen it in person, but it's a little suprising! a 172 isnt exactly an easy meal for a VR6 until you get your momentum going
