Leather refurbishing + plastic painting NEW - STEERING WHEEL
emu replied to emu's topic in Suppliers Forum
Sorry but to busy to do anything now. I'm using gliptone stuff and it is amazing on plastics. I had my foot rest painted long time ago, did around 4k miles since then and there is no sing on paint at all. All plastic's need to be very well sanded and degreased before you can apply any paint, and they need about 20-25 very thin layers of beige paint to transform them from black to beige. Hope it helps. -
checking a cv joints is a good idea, if you turn wheels on maximum and go forward and backward and there is no clicking they should be fine

Got my one few days ago and it's really nice.

wow, how's that ?? I left my car without membrane for one rainy night and ended up having 2cm of water on a floor.
-
In a middle of replacing door polypropylene membrane (foil) and I like the idea of sticky glue. Don't really want to use any silicone etc and like it to be waterproof as I'm fed up drying my carpet every few days so...... if anybody know what VW is using to glue water membrane on front doors I will be thankful.

I wish my one look so nice and shiny, good work.

I have them along with inpro headlights and I like them more than original ones.

did you try german ebay ??
-
how is the bonnet like ?? willing to post ??

It's really worth to collect parts on the shelf. You can buy some genuine parts from ebay or forums for peanuts and some day you will use them saving few quids. I think I already have at least 3 thermostats.

I can help you with Polish suppliers if you gave me their contacts as polish is my first language so everything will be much easier. PM me if you need my help.

I'm planing to fit oem golf r32 334mm discs, still looking for some used for trial fit to make sure they will fit before I will buy new one's. My first hit was to fit them... but 18" are minimum and 365 rs4 disc weight and costs a lot so ended up selling my rs4 setup and bough 6pots instead. Before people ask why so big brakes... I'm still planing to go turbo in some future, so far redecorating whole flat took all the money I had saved for this project and made me to sell most of the parts I had on shelves but will be back. Step by step, suspension, brakes, wheels, engine, paintwork and then turbo

Been playing with new front brakes today. Brembo 6pot calipers from porsche cayenne which will go together with 334mm golf mk4 r32 brake discs (they are not bought yet). I want to fit them under my 17" RH ZW1 and it looks like they will fit. Need some 20-30mm spacers for front clearance but everything looks like they fit.

nice find, your mk1 looks nuts, just love it

Advice needed best suspension set up for running 17" rims on a C . . .
emu replied to Woodsy_is_back's topic in Drivetrain
One more think about corrado and 17". People usually says they are bad for handling but never experienced this feeling. If you have good suspension and good tyres you will be all right but out of pocket as good suspension will cost you around 1k and another 500 for good tyres but worth a try. I had kw V2 and yokohama parad tyres on my green vr6 and handling was lot better than now on 15" with yokohama tyres as well but koni top adjustable suspension which is great as well but not good as KW. Been in corrado on Blistein coilowers and 17" some motosport alloys and toyo r888 tyres and never had so scary experience on corners, car was driving as glued to tarmac. You could push as much you wanted and car was cornering like in a dream but this tyreas are not for daily use as my friend was changing them on new every 6 weeks.
