Il take a blue set with clips for a vr6. Paul

Have you checked the white clasp that locates the centre part of the handle to the door is still there and not dropped off or broke? Paul
-
In the process of refurbing my car ive found that the guide rings on the radiator are all broken. Are they still available? or does anyone know of an upgrade to replace these plastic items? Items interested in are marked as 6. Also Before i go and get the radiator shroud powdercoated marked as 9, anyone know if these are still available and not stupid money? Thanks Paul

Thread lock would be a idea, prob a medium strength like 'blue' incase u ever want to undo them at a later date.

Yeah i had a good read through my Bentley manual and had no success, i get what your saying though. There is no up and down movement at all . Thought it best to ask as i didn't fancy it exploding.

Well ive stripped it all out and there is about 2mm of endfloat on the intermediate shaft. The wear marks on the block dont corrilate to any wear on the sprocket or chain. It seems wrong to have play on it but is it supposed to?
-
Hey all. Today when changing my cams to 263's i noticed the intermediate shaft had endfloat. There is about 3 - 5 mm of endfloat play and you can see that the sprocket / chain has been wearing against the block. Tommorrow im going to be looking into this further but Is the shaft adjustable or is it like im thinking that new bearings required? How much of a pain is it to renew if bearings are required? Paul

Yep. Just use a decent sized hammer :)

If you get a drift or punch and hit the hub where the ball joint locates while its under full tension it should pop out. Give it a proper couple of hits not a :camp: girly tap and its probbably best to hold the drift with either a proper holder or vice grips - it will properly hurt if you miss and hit urself otherwise.. Currently reshelling my white vr6 to a bordeaux one, so the whole thing is getting tarted. various polybush r32 bush and paint all parts, Rebuild gearbox, New heater matrix and radiator. New abs sensors, hubs , mk4 rear brakes. 263 cams and new tappets. currently removing all the dash etc.. to swap cars, checking and re wraping the looms then sleeving with conduit.
-
Yeah its not looking too bad, Its nice tarting up my own vehicle for a change and not just project vehicles...

Its been on my mind for ages to tidy things up, since we had all the snow its started to look a bit scabby.. Decided on having a full stripdown and fitment of goodies.

Just for curiosity i just got a quote with privilege as a new customer . on a identical policy to my current vr £410 instead of the £560 for being a valued customer. What a :censored: rip off, does nobody value keeping existing customers?
-
Ive just come to renewing my insurance on my vr rado and yet again its gone up :( Im 28 have full no claims and a clean licence. last year i was paying £480 fully comp with protected no claims, This year is £560 for exactly the same policy... I know shopping around is the best policy but ive been with privilege for four years and their usually pretty even with other companys... When i got the rado i was 22 and my old insurance company quoted me £2500 fully comp  I did the compare crap and found i could get it for £650 fully comp, so went back to them and on the spot they agreed to do it for the same.... :D I did the same this time and can get the exact same cover through atleast 5 other companys for £340, i went back to privilege and there on the spot said they would drop it to £520 - Why are they such robbing :censored: Im nearly paying the same as i was when i got the car  Im taking my car off the road for a few months to do various things, asked how much a j reg 1.2 renault clio would be to as a run around £270. About £269 more than its worth  Im now shopping around some more, this time il have to look for vr insurance with mods.

In truth there isn't alot of difference flange side with regards to bore diameter. when you compare the throttle body gaskets the obd1 is slightly bigger but out of memory only by 2mm or so. as it only cost a couple of quid to experiment i thought what the hell.
-
I blocked off the isv hole and got sum m8 aluminium threaded bar machined up and loctited it in the obd1 manifold holes. Left it a day and sanded them flush with the flange, then marked out where the obd2 throttle body sat drilled and re tapped the threads in the manifold. The only thing i had to do then was shorten the throttle cable bracket from the obd1 bringing the cable closer to the manifold so it was alligned with the obd2 throttle. Easy peasy.. The only downer was i got the golf manifold powdercoated and the corrado one is just plain and scabby, mabie il just paint it or polish it right up... It feels more resposive but when i get round to getting my 263's and remapping it im hoping on asking nicely if i can swap them over and do a comparison with both manifolds.
-
Just a quick one. I did the conversion a little while ago and for curiosity i modified my obd1 manifold to fit the obd2 throttle body to compare the two. The obd1 manifold seems more responsive than the obd2, so ive been using it ever since. Anyone else done this and using the obd1 manifold on the odb2 conversion?

They even took my vag com lead :bad-words: My old neighbour heard someone breaking into his wifes car a while back and confronted the scumbag with a crow bar. scumbag locked himself in the car and wouldn't budge, no matter how beconning my neighbour gave. Fortunately for scumbag the police were prompt, else who knows what would have happened.

Nice suprise this morning, because of the recent snow i parked the rado on the street instead of the drive and some goat blowing mother f :censored: decided to break into it.... :mad2: :bad-words: its only the second time its not been parked on the drive in the year ive lived here. They smashed the o/s quarter glass getting in aswell as fubar-ing the lock, ripped all the heater controls and center consul to crap trying to get me stereo out but obviously too techical cause its still there. Nice load of finger prints left all over the stereo facia.. Cd's nicked and remote for stereo, okleys gone etc The boot was full of engine bits and my new brakes etc.. ready to be fitted. which is now all over the inside after the car, Shame they had to rip the rear seats forward to nose about.. :bad-words: Obviously not to their taste cause its still pretty much there. They must have been curious about the old isv though - was originaly in the boot and found that on my drivers seat.. Anyone got a spare o/s quarter pannel glass for sale? Paul
