right so a fellow car enthusiast and i were outside this morning and Mike had seen that my front tyres are seriously worn on the outside edge... I'm using Toyo Proxie T1Rs.... not exactly crummy quality tryres... i had them replaced just under 5000 miles ago and had the wheel alignment done at the same time... I know i do tend to fly around the corners but thats a bit silly isnt it? i'm on stock shocks and speedline alloys... the inside of the tyres are fine tho... and the rear tyres that i've had on for almost 12000 miles are still going on strong! does this sound normal? am i missing something... could it be camber? can the camber even be adjusted on these?!

only problem with parking in the corner is someone might smash your window and try and steel stuff, seen it happen a couple of times thats where a G5 alarm system comes in handy!

-
cool.... i'll give the stealer a call at lunch... you don't happen to have a part number do you?
-
TBH i think it'll just be an excuse for ppl to swing thier doors open without caring... if anything, they will treat it like the buffer that it's supposed to be and eventually they will miss it and get the lovely paintwork instead... it's just asking for trouble... besides the point, it looks stupid... your better off just parking a million miles away from anyone and walking!
-
what is that?
-
Ordered the part today... Should have it on Friday... Along with a couple of rear ABS rings...
-
good work so far tho mate... you'll have yourself a brand new corrado when your finished...!!

Awsome! i'm just going to order that cable then...

-
hey guys... i got the exact same problem... tho i spoke to VW today, they said that they don't sell the clip seperate and that it does not come with the bonnet release cable... do you think they've just missunderstood what i'm talking about?
-
Holy HELL that look complicated!!!
-
had a dude come up to my while i was filling up at 3 in the morning in a shell in norwood.... i was sh*tting my self! then he kept asking me if i was selling it! after about 15 mins of me juts saying..."nah, mate..." he offered me £6k for it!! i declined again... love it too much!

Right, so the time has come to replace the heater matrix... it's been a nice hot weekend and i've been putting this off for as long as i can... following the details from the corrado club canada forum - http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8848 - which was great, tho i had to improvise on a couple things... anyway, so, with a lot help from Andy and Andy we got crackin and i thought i'd take as many piccys as poss to help those who need to do the same thing... The things you will need: * Phillips screwdriver (long, med and stubby - good quality ones!! i broke 3 brand new screwdrivers doing this!) * flat head screwdriver * A decent socket set (i had to buy a set from halfords. awsome quality! tho the socket wrench was a lil big for a couple of bolts...) * a #2 philips screwdriver head and decent quality pliers (i'll explain later!) * WD40!!! * trays for screws * labels... lots of labels! 1. so to begin with, i took the seats out... so much easier to work without them! they are a pi$$ easy to take out... 1st remove the plastic cover the housing that the seat roller sits on... there will be one for each seat situated on the inner side... it's fairly easy to take off... just clipped in... Then remove the bolt at the front of the seat which should then allow the seat to slide all the way back off the rollers... 2. next step i removed the steering wheel and vents... steering wheel is straight fwd... unclip the horn and you should find a (off the top of my head) a 24mm bolt holding the thing in place... the vents just unclip, so it's a case of pinch and pull... I also took this time to remove the radio and labelled up all the wires at the back... 3. Removed the dash speakers... the covers are just clipped on, so you should be able to just pry them off with a flat head screw driver... the speakers themselves pull out quite easily... label up the wires... Note - the thing in the middle of the dash that looks like a speaker is a dummy!! i'd been fooled into thinking i have 5.1!!! 4. Now you need to take the bit under the glove compartment out... there are 3 screws at the top and 2 on the side where your right leg would normally be... it then just pull out... no trouble there... 5. now the glove compartment... unnecessarily dufficult!! there are 2 screws at the top and 2 at the bottom... the 2 at the bottom are covered by a plastic strip that needs to come out... lift it srtaight up to avoid snapping anything... then just loosen the latch hook thing in the middle at the top... the inner light just pulls out... unpug the wiring and lable up... Getting the thing out after that is a pain in the a$$! there is a bit under the glove compartment that i have marked (1) that gets in the way of the bit marked (2)... there is no trick to this... i'm not gonna sugar coat it... it's a c*nt to get out... 6. remove the vent housing on the passenger side... the 2 screws at the bottom are fairly easy but there is also one at the top that is a pain as there is no space even for the stubby philips... so this is where the pliars and the #2 philips head comes in... you can see me doing the same thing to the screw on the centre vent... it was tighter than the virgin marys a$$. but i got it... :) Red blobs where the difficult screws are... sorry, my hand is in the way! 7. there are a couple of pics missing now... sorry... we got a lil carried away but it's nothing too difficult... next thing you do now is to remove the passenger side vent... remove the screws on the driver side vent (a lot easier to get to!), unplug and remove the headlight switch and pull that vent out... 8. the facia for the heating controls just pops out... good ol flat head for that... then there are 4 screws holding that in place... now the centre console can come out, i imagine it would make things a LOT easier!... however... i could not get the bottom 2 screws you see in the pic below out... i broke 3 screw drivers trying to get them out... if you can get them out then great! if not, you'll have to leave that centre bit in... ash tray housing is screwed in by 1 screw at the back... there is a light in there that pulls out... label it up... then you can pull the cig lighter out, unplug and label... at this point i did not bother taking anymore screws out of the centre console... but i think i saw3 another one behind the ABS light at the top... and i THINK there is one on the right side of the console... sorry for being so vague about that bit... :S remember to also remove the ABS light, fog light switches and demister switch and label up before taking the centre console out... 9. OK, now moving onto the driver side... the bezel around the gauge cluster is fairly easy to remove (sorry, no pics on this... Andy got excited and removed it all while i was making tea! so i stole a pic from the canada forum and flipped it!) there are 4 screws in total for the bezel... the 2 in the bottom corners are under clipped on covers... then the upper 2 you will need the stubby philips screwdriver for... bezel comes out nicely after that... remove the tray to the right just above the bonnet release, held in by 2 plastic things that you should be able to remove with your hands... then the plastic housing under the steering collum is held in by (i think) 6 screws... remember to pull the spoiler switch out and label up... 10. the gauge cluster should be exposed nicely now... there are 2 screws holding that in place... remove the cluster and label up the cable that goes into the back of it... 11. now you will need to remove the housing around the steering collum... this is in 2 bits and is screws together by 3 screws underneath the steering collum itself... to get the top half off you will need to remove the lever for the steering wheel height adjustment... you can remove this after taking the bottom half of the housing off... 12. now you need to remove the indicator and wiper stalks off... (this is just to make it easier to take the dash out...) they are screwed in by 3 flat head screws... left stalk will come off 1st then the right stalk has all the wires connected to it... remove and label the wires... the right stalk wont come all the way off, but you just need it out of the way really... 13. there is now just the immobaliser and the what i presume is the spoiler control module (already dissconnected in the pic - at the top) that need to be disconnected... this is located on the far right just above where the spoiler switch is... Note - when reconnecting the immobaliser connectors stick some WD40 on em as i'm told that they are notorious for dry joints and you get the car not starting properly intermittantly... a problem i myself have had... 14. OK, so if i've explaind everything right so far, you should be able to remove the screws to remove the dash... there are 6 in total... 2 on either side of the dash, under black plastic covers... 1 behind the lower centre part of the dash... 1 hidden on the left of where the gauge cluster was... and 2 10mm bolts on the other side of the bulkhead... you will need a mirror for them! 15. before taking the dash out, there are a lot of cable ties holding cables to the dash itself... remember to free these up! you can then remove the dash and you should have some thing that looks like this! 16. Right, so the matrix is slap bam in the middle... you'll need to remove the vents on either side and the centre vent which is held in place by 2 10mm bolts... 17. after you have done this there is the fan arm connected to the side of the unit you need to take out... it's connected by 6 metal clips... 1 on the top, 1 on the bottom, 2 at the fron and 2 behind it... the 2 behind it are b@stards to get to... i accidently broke one of the clips at the back... 18. right, so now in order to get the unit out, you have to dissconnect the water pipes going into the back (i had a bypass done on it myself) and there are 2 10mm bolts holding the unit in place on the other side of the bulkhead... i needed WD40 to get 1 of the bolts out... 19. the unit should be loose now... getting it out is a bit of a struggle... take this metal plate out if you need to as it does free up a lot of space... 20. One you have the unit out, you can access the matrix from the top... 2 screws and 2 clips then it simply slides out... spot the difference!! 21. stick the new matrix in, do everything in reverse and Robert's your fathers brother!... Note - one thing i felt i had to do tho was to stick a hose in the new matrix to see if there were any leaks from it... Note - mate sure you secure all the cabling nicely so that you don't get any rattling after... well there you have it... i'm a moron when it comes to this stuff... and if i can do it anyone can... my car does not have AC, so i'm not sure how that would effect you AC rado's... It's not too difficult with the right help... but it takes ruddy long!!! njoy! :salute:
