It's amazing how small the internet community is... I saw these pics on GolfGTI Forums! Looks fantastic! -
Have a good flight back Pete! Good luck with the brake lines as well fella! They are not too much of a hassle if you have access to the right tools :)
-
alright i'll raise you - maybe a crowbar, a bacon sandwich and some V-Power vouchers! what d'ya recon?![/quote:1wlbajvq] How big is this sandwich?! More V-power vouchers will keep me in there for longer
-
Would need more than a crowbar if it were me in there!
-
Anyone any idea?

Mine works but i'm not too sure on the accuracy? I ran it very low the other day (according to the gauge that is) and only managed to put 57 litres back into my 70 litre tank. Am I right in thinking that all VR6's came with a 70 litre tank? Is there any way of adjusting the calibration of the sender. The gauge will also quite happily move up and down by around 2 needles width when thrashing it about... Again is this normal?
-
Let's hope so, mine is running closer and closer to the refill area!

Sweet!

Liking the plans Pete - You are going down the route I want to take - give or take some bits. PS I'm guessing that you work for the same people as me as you are in the place where i'm going soon. -
The reasoning behind the dampening, I would take an educated guess at is, to eliminate a sudden load being transfered to the water pump and its fins on start up. There would be no inertia in the water and the sudden load over time could damage the fins. Especially if it has plastic fins on a metallic spline drive - eventually leading to the fins not turning with the pump. Imagine it like this, water is soft when you touch it gently, belly flop into a pool tho and you find it's not so soft!
-
It may be a viscous clutch for the water pump? It will allow the pulley to engage/disengage when it is not needed. It works on a temperature system. My old BMW E30 had one for the cooling fan...
-
Is that Kiddlington you use? I use Iffley road but as you say they are not the best....
-
Cool.... I'm going on an extended holiday with work to build sand castles soon. Will treat myself when I come back I'll definately be treating myself to something along these lines!
-
So what is so good about the new one then? Educate me :)
-
I would love to get hold a mk2 but finding the right one which is in good enough condition is getting more and more difficult. Mk1 with a VR6 would be heaven!
-
Fair one! I'll let you off! :)
-
Man you don't have loads of luck with this do you?!
-
Looks good fella! I'm loving the RX's myself...

Sean Jaymo - Grey Scale!! Pg8 - Go on have a look!

It is now starting to sit closer to 110 than 100. There is a switch on the coolant manfold which i'm sure will cure it but have just ordered myself an adapter for my OBD2 interface that I already have. Shall see in the week what that brings! -

Ever since I have had the old girl, its been running on the warm side, fine when on the move but climbed quickly when making good progress or sitting in traffic! Then I had a hose come off when navigating a round-about. Steam everywhere and an angry biker emerging from the steam in my wake! I managed to bodge it back together but found a decidedly sorry-for-itself elbow on the top of the radiator! New one from VW £6.82+ vat pt# W535-121-647 Also fitted a new radiator as well as the old one was rather tired after 150k - Have also fitted a new thermo-switch and thermostat. Result? Runs a whole load cooler and spot on spec but still sits around 100c in traffic. There is another switch on the cooling manifold that I can replace as well so will do that and see where it takes me! New and old I also decided to change the indicator stalks as I managed to get hold of some face lifted ones to replace the old style ones. I then discovered that you also need the top steering column shroud from the face lift so that the new and improved big hazard button will fit. VW being VW, the parts under the skin are exactly the same so I just had to swap over some bits! SO I now have some posh new stalks (which are a damn site more ergonomic than the olds ones) with the old button fitted :) Laters tatters! -
Well it worked! And I doubted you lot! Thanks again!

I've just got in from my night shift so will try this afternoon when I wake and the rain has hopefully subsided!

Why would that affect the operation?
