Got an offer today from the insurance co, £3k and I can have the salvage for £480. Not to bad an offer but will go back and ask for some more as it would be difficult to replace a silver VR in as good a condition for £3k, what do you reakon?? -

was told by the assessor that viewed my C that the glasses guide said £1600 for a 93 c, but he never uses the guide price. He has a look at autotrader to see what the market price is. He asked me how much I thought mine was worth....I said I had had a look round and expected to pay £4 to £4.5k to replace it with a C in similar condition!! We shall see what the offer comes in at! -

Just spoken to my insurances nominated garage and they have put a quote in of £3255 to fix the C. Thats got to be a write off. Will have to wait and see what the insurance company have to say now. I'm hoping to keep the remains and it can become a donor for all of you! -

I didnt think to much to the slight stiffness of my neck on the night of the accident. But over two weeks later I'm sat here with a big headache up the back of my head with knotted muscles in the top of my neck. I think its gonna be a while before i'm back to normal. A few trips to the oseopath will be in order. I'm not one to take advantage of a situation, but it bloody hurts! -

Sorry to hear the news of another. Mine was hit a couple of weeks ago. Still getting a bit of stiffness from the whiplash, hope yours is not to bad. If you havent already get your insurers to put you in contact with an independant solicitor to sort out a personal injury claim. -
Gumball Cancelled.... ?End of Gumball?

I'm scared that this might have an effect on rallies like the scally rally. We had such a great time last year with no trouble at all (apart from some banger racers who decided it was a good idea to have a banger race on Barcalona beach!!). We are doing it again this year, so really hopeful that we don't get effected by these rich kids! -
I have always sprayed my coilovers with cavity wax, has stopped any corrosion of the threads.

Thanks for all the remarks, she is defo a write off, the boot is twisted and the sunroof is not sitting straight like it used to, so there must be a fair bit of twist in the chassis. I'm gonna get all the good bits off it sharpish, if the insurance company lets me have it, I will break it as I have a nice big drive and a fairly understanding wife! That will be three dead cars on the drive! Got a new Audi Avant for this years scally rally (http://www.teamrado.blogspot.com), this ones a turbo quattro but needs windows and a rear seat. Just back from picking up another avant that we bought off ebay for £52 for all the spares we need. Can't decide what I want next, another C, a TT, an A4, Grinall Scopian...I just don't know. Got you look at it as a oportunity to get something different or better! -

The C took a beating last night.....from a Nissan Almera doing about 30mph sideways with all 4 wheels locked up. I'm sure its going to be a write off as the qtr panel is twisted. So not sure what to do at the moment, maybe another C or something different. Got a few bits on it that I want to rescue like exhaust, induction kit, coilovers, steering wheel etc etc, so think I will try and get old standard parts and see what I buy before selling any of the bits on. Boohoo, another C dies........ RIP -
Like this you mean!

Andy Brookes replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Today I mostly came back to my car with a nice big dent in it from some twat in waitrose carpark in Ringwood........arse wipes. Rear bumper is the shape of a banana and the rear panel has a subtle crease to it.....arrrrrrhgggghhh. Thinking about claiming on the insurance for once. Hope you have all had better days! -

VR broke down and then would not restart, now fixed
Andy Brookes replied to Andy Brookes's topic in General Car Chat
Now fixed, it was the ignition module, now a few quid lighter in my wallet but VR now running. If anyone has the same symtoms here's what I found. I disconnected the 3 pin plug to the ignition module, brown pin is an earth, black pin is 12V feed when the ignition is on, red and black pin is a control voltage from the ecu, this showed 1.4ish V when the engine was cranked over. So all of that was good, but I wasnt getting a spark. New ignition module fixed it. I havent heard of one going before. Also of note is that the engine had been taking a while to start for a good year or so, with the new ignition module it start immediatly.
