Need to get some bits and bobs for the Wifes Seat Ibiza as the Mot is due, including filters, discs, pads, cv boots, steering rack gaitors, rear bump stops. For the whole lot vwspares want £75 quid, GSF come in at £100. A fair difference. Just wondered if anyone had used them and had good service?

http://www.vag-tuner.com do them, big advert in PVW this month. They are an off shot of Regal (a vauxhall tuner) in Southampton.
-
Can recommend William Street Garage in Southampton for full alignment. They will have the car for a couple of hours and do a very thorough job.

Supersprint discontinuing Corrado exhausts...

Heard good things about these http://www.bastuck.de/edelstahl/html/ht ... 194_vw.htm Saw them for sale in PVW from a company in Southampton.....can't remember the name though. Got an idea that it maybe an offshot of Regal Performance in Southampton, who have sold Vauxhall (spit!) bit's for years. Maybe a good alternative. -
Got zimms on mine and all has been ok for 20k. On the subject of GSF, I used to buy most things from them, but have found that there bits just don't seem as reliable as VW's bits, so tend to buy original most of the time now. It's the suspension bits that seem a little off, ball joints, rubbers etc. Filters and that seem ok though.

I have just trimmed off the rubber on the inside edge with a sharp stanley knife. I have found that they hold themselves into the recess very well without the self adhesive tape, so have not replaced this. I now remove the strips whenever I wax the car. Allows a good clean of the strips and stops you getting polish all over the strips. Removing the rubber from the inner edge also seems to make them better at controlling the water on the roof, dont get the deluge of water on the window switches as much now. Biggest bonus is the £80 in my pocket! All round winner.

Gotta be black grill and head lamp surrounds on silver. When I get my body work done, I will be having the grill and headlight surround done in gloss black to give a more modern look.

Was talking to James R the other night re climate control. The display flashes if there is something wrong with the system. So I'm guessing that your probs are down to the fan, maybe the old thermal fuse? though that would still allow the fan to run on the high setting. SO maybe a lose wire to the fan? Hope you find it.

Tint them all red and spray the chome on the outside satin black....then they would look good.

Just found this http://www.sanden.com/support/servicema ... tents.html think it fully answers the question I had re the oil.
-
Thanks borderair. No caps have been fitted, so will need to replace the oil. Sure you can see this coming....ummm so how do you change the oil?? And whats the best way to flush out the evaporater and the hoses?

Top tips, thanks Storm. Not cheap but so nice when it works!

Had a quick play with the bits tonight. Had to remove one of the hoses from the condensor as Dinkus cut it to get it out. Unfortunatly the tread has gone on the condensor, even socked it overnight in WD. So a new condensor is needed, along with a new pipe. Any recommendations on where to get a new condensor (how much?) and a new pipe. Also need to source new dryers and seals for all the pipes. Otherwise things are looking good. Compared the pipe work on the two systems, all the matching pipes are slightly different lengths. Seems that I have two systems where all the components are slightly different. Makes you wonder if each system is a one off and they just chucked whatever was hanging around in a box and put a corrado kit sticker on the outside!!!

you should be able to, the screws are fitted from the front and below on the ones I have. The screw positions do seem a little random when comparing the two. Guess its a drill on assembly thing and that one operator may have decided that screws round the back would be a good idea!!! ps, if anyone has a spal fan and it goes bang, the housing could be easily modified to fit the Valeo fan.
-
Here are the pics of both fan assemblies taken apart.... just undo the 4 or 5 screws that hold the bottom plastic part on and the fans pop out. Very easy. Also a pic of the part number on the Valeo fan.

Thanks for the tip on the file name Jim, now working at the top -
Just been round to see him tinkering. Think he will be working on the car most of the night, so dont expect contact this evening!

Will have a look tonight and take closer pics. From what I can remember from last night it looked like it twisted out like the standard fan. Will get back to you later on. Andy
