    Big Ben's VRT

Any updates on this superb car?
  2. Typical 17" weight, not the lightest not the heaviest c 18kg with tyres IIRC
  3. Agreed, change cap on expansion bottle and thermostat and take it from there.
  4. Seriously though nice show and makes a pleasant change to be free entry. Would be good to get a bunch of Corrados together for a forum/club display.
  5. If we can persuade them to lower the admission price count me in.
  6. Gotta love this forums resolve to take on issues raised by old and less than perfect OE parts and find great new solutions. Would be interested in ready to go green set up at the right price:thumbleft:
  7. I think it looks great! I'm currently looking into getting a wheel retrimmed. Are you getting a remap with the cams? would love to hear your post fitment reports:thumbleft:
  8. Would like to see pics of the wheel:afro:
  9. If those sizes are correct then yes, and the offset will decrease by 12. If in doubt about fitment run the specs up on here for some guidance. If dealing with splits the ET quoted on the wheels is only correct for original spec and the ET and likely fitment will change with every change to inner or outer dish and also with the use of adaptors or spacers.
  10. If I own an older car I choose to keep it in good order as I want to run an older car by choice not simply because I want a bargain basement banger. Theres no point scoring or one upmanship, just a sense of enjoyment from owning a car that gives me some pleasure, a hobby and one I can share with like minded enthusiasts. As it goes i'd probably rather run just a diesel turbo daily at the moment but just because my car isn't worth much in the scheme of things doesn't mean it needs to be neglected or run into the ground or sold for peanuts so it makes it more desirable to run it on a classic policy living a relatively pampered life
  11. I know there are notable exceptions but I must reiterate that Corrados are a desirable car if kept, maintained and presented to a good standard and if not they become simply another ageing car past their prime, increasingly unsuitable for the rigours of every day use especially in the face of pricy and obsolete parts, fuel costs etc. They are really now a weekend/hobby/summer/classic car to be cherished and enjoyed. If you have the time, money, space and love they truly are a joy to own, when that level of commitment is no longer sustainable or justifiable its time to move on
  12. Would like to go but fear its too far on this occasion. In these tough financial times it would have been nice too have perhaps piggy backed onto one of the bigger quality shows with a mega club stand eg VW Festival, VW Northwest etc. This is not a criticism just a reflection of scarce time and resources on my part.
  13. Thanks Rob, appreciate that, i'll pm my e-mail address over
  14. shamelessly stolen from Robs thread, taken at BVF
  15. Looking good there Rob, some nice pics. Good to catch up and see the Corrado looking fresh:thumbleft:
  16. its a yellow/green check in the Scirocco, quite distinctive and attractivey
  17. The stripes are MK1 the effect is undoubtedly muscle car, no bad thing for a custom car, for a true retro vibe take infuences from early Sciroccos, like tartan trim etc. check out the green ED 38 Scirocco owned by Lesta.
  18. Quite interesting the RML Snowflakes will give a similar look
