Mk3 GTis - utter pants or is it just me? Alternatives?
GlosterOx replied to Mystic Rado's topic in General Car Chat
If I remember right, magazine road tests were pretty scathing of it at the time. Compared to a MK2 8V, it had put on about 150Kgs in weight, which blunted the performance and it wallowed around bends due to the suspension - It no longer deserved the GTI title and was more of a cruiser instead, due to the stiffer bodyshell. Hi Cazza, Got my Chrome replacements off this guy, really knowledgeable and (I think) a fellow Corrado owner - Only seems to have Grille listed currently: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-BLACK-PATTERN ... 1|294%3A30 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-BLACK-GENUINE ... 2|294%3A30 Ian :D

Swompy, Glad you're pleased with it - Let me know if you are coming over to collect the KR Inlet Cam? Ian :D
-
£20.00, either collect it from home in Gloucester or I work in Stroud if easier. PM me if interested. Ian :D
-
I have a KR Inlet Cam going spare if you want one - Should be near to you as I am in Gloucester? Ian :D

If it is fitted with H/L Washers I think the washer bottle is increased to something like 7 Lt capacity. Ian.

As Kip says 7075 is a good alloy, we anodise a lot of it as it is used extensively in the aircraft industry. One of the downsides with it, I am told, is that it is not weldable. Ian

Matt, I got the same rear wiper off Les Bray (fellow Corrado owner) on E Bay and it makes a big difference - Well worth the £11.00 or so. Ian :D
-
Not sure if the clips are available, I just put a new switch in when the passenger side was flapping around like yours. ian.

Ex Works I have found normally means price collected i.e without return carriage, etc, Ian :D

Blasting with fine (180-220) Grade Aluminium Oxide Media would probably be a good alternative on aluminium - Just make sure you get all the residue out after. Ian :D
-
I've never looked into it but one of the parts guys I spoke to reckoned there was a Polo Strap of the same era that would fit - Anyone know if this is true? Ian

PhilUK, They went obsolete around July/August last year - I phoned all the dealers who were supposed to stock them and found 1 only!! Ian :D

Not sure if they can help, but our company does some plating for these people and might be worth a try? http://www.brenmark.co.uk/frames.htm Ian :) -
Or you can try these people: http://www.corrado-teile.de/shop/produc ... rrado.html Ian :D

Hi Drew, Good luck with your new venture. Being pedantic too, in the applications section "degreased" is spelt a few times as "degerased" Ian :D

Hi Perky, My 148000 mile 2.0 16V has a 2.5" pipe from the cat back, Panel Filter + KR Inlet Cam and it made just over 157 BHP on the Stealth R/Road after a remap. Ian :D

Very realistic and quite hard hitting - Hope it gets the message across, especially this time of year when people are perhaps more tempted to drink and drive as well. Ian
-
Toad, Slightly off the subject, but the Indicator stalk on my Corrado is very "slack" compared to the action of the wipers - Is it an easy job to change the stalk? Ian
-
Hi Lufbramatt, Link to the guide you wanted!! http://the-corrado.net/wiki/index.php/Re-tumbing_locks Ian :D

I had a look at mine today and all I have is a hole where this plunger(?) should be - Folded the rear seat down and the boot light was on with the tailgate shut so assume this was the same problem!! I've taken the bulb out for the time being - What exactly do I need to get everything working properly? Appreciate any help. Ian :(
-
Jamin, I'll take that as a compliment!! - I have been working in the Metal Finishing Industry for the last 22 years so like to think I have learnt a few bits 'n pieces in that time. Ian :D
-
Jamin, I believe EBC Discs are Zinc Plated + Colour Passivated - It gives an irridescent type finish to them plus obviously some corrosion protection. Ian :D

Hi Pip, Welcome to the forum from another 16V owner, just down the road in Gloucester!! :D

Maybe I was lucky(?) but I got the SX2 loom and had it fitted along with some +50% bulbs and have to say that I'm really happy with the difference it has made to both dip and main beam. Only slightly worrying point was that in his instructions he reckoned it could be fitted in 10 minutes but it took our works electrician (who admits he knows nothing about auto electrics) approx 1.5 hours to do it properly to a standard that he was happy with.
