  1. yes converted the sunroof switch.............meltd the first two so i resorting to getting a seat toledo or something switch as it is exactly the same as the corrado and is red to begin with!
  2. ok folks a real basic quick guide on how to change the green switches to red......i will update this thread the next time i take a switch apart so you can see a more detailed section of whats inside.. a quick trawl around various forums etc and Maplins in Exeter i got hold of some LED's... when taking the switches apart be sure to keep it upside down there are little silver torpedos with tiny springs attached you dont want to loose these....try and make sure these are seated fairly level when refitting this can be a problem if not when putting the switch back together.. out came the shit green led's and in went the super bright red led's unsolder the green led using either a gas or electric soldering iron, preferably with a sharp and pointy tip! note where the legs were soldered onto also note one leg is longer than the other..... look at the led itself and inside you will see the contact points one side is bigger than the other this is quite imortant , led's will only illuminate when connected the correct way (bit like a diode) a pic of the inside of the switch, do not let the wires inside the switch touch each other , also try and keep them in as factory position as possible the metal can be manipulated quite easily to get the desired bends.... this is a comparison between the red and green led's... as you can see the green is really shit. i do have a small probel with the heated seat switch as i cant get it to illuminate very brightly at all no matter what i try... standard led's are 20 micro candles... super bright led's are 100 micro candles... the red led's cost .39 pence each.... so a very cheap but effective mod... i thought id continue it thoughout the car...
  3. yes you can maplins i replaced mine with led's
  4. Yea as rob says all my paint was furniture clinic stuff, seems to work exceptionally well ! Make sure you get both the gloss and the satin laquers though!
  5. just checked yes they are black
  6. i think they were all black wernt they? i cant remember if my beige panal has black clips on it im sure it does......
  7. tps do supply the genuine artcles.....they all come in vag packaging and have vag part numbers and vag symbols on them after all tps supply the trade with genuine parts......
  8. lol robrado and myself have this conversation pretty much every week one of us has fallen out with the poxy car! i wouldnt give up on this one bud its extremly nice in the pics id love to se it in the metal but as my car doesnt even turn a wheel god damn thing dont get me started on it its highly likely i probably wont attend any of the shows in time!! in fact i wouldnt even park my car next to yours as it would piss me off! lol
  9. With out being harsh bud to keep it you need to start getting your hands dirty, taking your car to kwick ccrap is not an option, start looking at various bits and pieces your self use the guys and girls on here everyone is willing to help offer advice etc etc you will get good and bad days with if bur it is rewarding when you fix something yourself and you realise how much you've saved and the knowledge you've gained...... Don't worry about it bud just get stuck in brakes are a piece of piss!! If I can do them anyone can!
  10. They are available I picked mine up two weeks ago From Tps Genuine vw side markers with bulbs bulb holders and screws!
  11. no problem...not sure if they were the sort of thing you were after?, if they are i can do a few more on various bits and pieces....
  12. thanks for the comments guys it looks good in the flesh, if any one has other retro fitted brake lights please feel free to add to this thread ,might make peoples lives a little easier when using the search??! :) cheers
  13. project has well over gone its due date and my patience with it ran out several times but soon now we are on the road to recovery.... got the fron tend back on... car looks a total mess!!!!!! just got to finish wiring in the reverse lights and then the starter motor when thats done il then be able to fire it up!!!!!! cant wait anyway next after this is the front bumper i need to retro fit the side markers....
  14. my dads Dodge Ram SRT10 8.3 v10 stainless gas flowed headers high flow cats B+B exhaust , K & N dustbin size induction kit, lightend and balanced flywheel, large bore throttle body, hartage short shift kit, paddle clutch, custom remap....... factory 500bhp not sure what it is now as i forgottn the rr test surprisingly wasnt much more though like 550bhp ....never driven it been passenger a couple times but i sooooooooooo want to drive it it just launches and is surprisngly quick 100mph is just ticking over in 6th at 1500 ish rpm lol it is massive and red and sounds ridiculous... also has the added benifit of the amtrack train horns so could be good fun!
  15. yes look at the new post how to fit an american spec 3rd brake light viewtopic.php?f=45&t=100950
  16. not sure really as the number plate light holder is only really visable when the spoiler is up?? (i think)
  17. no i havent got anything else better to do...... have a look through the forum and you will find a few guys on here have masterd fitting a 3rd brake light they al look good , i wanted the american/canadian style brake light fitted to my car and i couldnt find a tail gate for love nor money, i sourced the brake light on here from one of the guys , you can still get these new i found out! doh!! part numbers are.... Housing 535 945 121 Brake light 535 945 131 Bulb holder 867 906 231 here is a picture of the brake light wire and bulb holer ( cant see the bulb holder as its in the back!) note the wire and bulb plug is the same as any of the fittings on the illumination behind the centre console , so you could go to a scrap yard to get this section of wire needed! start with a tail gate with no hole...... then mark out centrally where you wont the hole.... and cut it obviously make it smaller to begin with to allow for alteration... file out the bits where it catches try to make as snug as possible..... trial fit the brake light closer image of trial fitting of brake light make sure it is central and not lop sided! brake light hole finished and light resting in position....so far so good.... next problem is to actually fit the light.... i did not want to mastick it into the boot lid as its just a complete bodge .......but easier! lol next a bracket was made and welded into place... close up of bracket brake light in position brake light not completly tight here as its just a trial fitting.... area needs to be filled to finish off edges.... filled and primed ready for final prepping bit more work needed fill bottom edge hide metal scars! tail gate painted tail gate painted and brake light fitted.... to wire this up i put the earth onto the earth ring in the boot and took the signal from the brake lights to the other wire and it works a treat! again hope this helps someone or gives them an idea of how it could be achieved...... cheers
  18. beers going down well tonight? ;) lol yes they were! sorry if i offend any one had the most stressful but rewarding week! had to celebrate my promotion with a well earnd drink to myself!! lol on a level headed note as to the two cars.... hmmm its a toughy not too sure about the 16v being light more nimble as its going to be marginal ...i can understand the front end pushes on , on a vr when pressing on but that doesnt really happen if you drive sensibly vr sound is awesome.....but then so is the rate it drinks fuel.....the valver is never goin gto be the vr6..... but then if you have a minter of a valver and the vr is tierd whats worth more monay?.....ins cheaper on the 16v???? to have the ideal motor if the 16v is really that much cleaner even the engine bay then i probably would go for the interior swap.....and maybe sell the vr.... hard to say as ive never driven the 16v ......which colour do you like best?
  19. as i was on a roll with carpet cleaning etc here is the best way to clean the headling and sunroof panel....... would you like to have a fresh cabin? headlining dirty? smells of nicotine? looks dull? just cant get it quite clean enough? here is a beige sunroof panel from a 94 vr6 as you can see its a little bit dirty i cant afford a new one so i wonder if i can clean it??? this went in the bath too!! lol very very very carefully again warm water bold and a very soft nail brush..be careful as the plastic side of the panal will have a few years of dirt and dust try and clean this off with out it getting onto the fabric as it is always black...... using the nail brush sponge or whatever else you can find go in to the direction of the cloth gentley wiping and soaking the panel use the brush the get the more stubborn marks out on it....the fabric will discolour immeadiatly on getting it wet dont fret this is meant to heppen..... so once finished it should look a little something like the one pictured above, i was a bit disapointed as it doesnt look very clean , (note the black marke around the trim panel) and it just looks ??? um dirty? leave this to drip dry somewhere safe....and then look at your headlining........ again this healining is a beige one from a 94 vr6, it looks dirty and smells musty, nicotine smell just looks tierd..... the edge shows what colour it used to be....there are some discolourations and darker patches all over it .... with an extremly understanding partner i used the bath again.....ok she was out and didnt know!! lol i stood the headlining up against the bath attached some masking tape to the top of it just enough to hold it in position... do not use as much water as you do not want to distort the backing card...(headlining itself) a little bit of smoke coloured water came off and run into the bath but nothing major.... let the headlining dry out ans see your results.... back to the sunroof panel..here it is nearly dry what a difference!! and the headlining you can just see the water collecting at the bottom corner of the lining where it is draining out..... again i hope this has been useful to somebody.... as a quick fix if you dont want the bother of all this then i highley reccomend tesco foam upholstery cleaner (spray tin) as the results are fantastic not as good as the above but none the less fantastic results can be acheived!
  20. not sure if this is the sort of thing you would like in here as ive got a few bits and pieces knocking about my thread and im sat at mothers i thought id try and write a couple bits up.... would you like to clean your carpets? are you fed up with them looking tierd and dirty? would you like to try and achieve the show standard look with out having to buy new carpets and mats? all this is very achieveable with a little elbow grease ..... if you are interested then please read on........... :norty: ok i started with mine looking like this feshly taken from a 94 vr6...in case you are wondering yes they are beige..... here is my old set of carpets these are the grey ones.... closer pic of the rear section closer pic of front section note the black marks... i started with the smallest bit of carpet first, i sprayed on the tfr let it soak just a little then i just pressure washed them off throurghly, i didnt even scrub them its starting to look clean already!! this bit is just dirty all done! the fronts you can just about see the brown water coming off them!! most people would write this lot off and buy new or say why bother , your wasting your time etc ....but little do they know.... first off i pressure washed them just to get the crap off quick.... dont have any pics of this on this particular set but here is one of a grey set i pressure washed... note the brown water coming off! also for reference the foam that is coming off could be preivious attempts at cleaning the carpets at times in their life in this case its that and some TFR ( traffic film remover) i sprayed on first to soak in....... next step you need to get your wife, partner, mum, girlfriend whatever in a particularly good mood as you need to use the bath...... lay one side into the bath like so. heres the other side.. now dont get to disheartend as yes they do still look a bit shagged. the reason for putting them in the bath is simple.........i wasnt allowed to use the washing machine anymore (which works fantastic and is much quicker!) run warm water into the bath get a decent scrubbing brush sprinkle washing powder directly over the carpets i used bold all in one , it goes very slippery between your hands and a little bit foamy but not too much, the reason for using washing powder is it has light enhancing properties, so it get the stains out and will make the carpet appear brighter and fresher. so bold and lenor and a scrubbing brush it was, rinse wash rinse condition, rinse, (you get the idea) i left the spin bit out as that would have really pissed her off , ummm yeah the bath water is dirty.. if youve got a wet vac then great but if you havent ......like me....then unfortunatly this is what you have to do the main carpets are just hanging up to dry there are a couple of dark lines on them but that is water , when you squeeze it down it goes light .....so when they are dry they will look 100% better.... there is 2 maybe 3 little tiny grease marks the camrea hasnt picked up on but tar and glue will remove them , i used tar and glue during the washing process to remove the grease form the centre of the carpet from the seat runners and catch at the front where it must have rubbed etc when they are hoovered up itl show all the pile and just look all fresh and nicey nicey here is a couple pics of them dry.... so all thats left now is to enjoy your hard work! top tip to keep carpets ultra fresh use 3M carpet protector stuff you can get it from all builders merchants its a giant cling film style roll partially sticky backed does not ruin carpets at all used in boats at shows etc or show homes i used it as my car has been a daily in between cars and it really saves them much better than standard mats just rip it off when you go to a show!! hope this helps somebody.... cheers
  21. heres how i cleaned my lot prior to resto.... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=87744&start=45 carpets and headlining is on the page after
