In a field: In it's more usual habitat: Dyno Jun 2010 - AFR, estimated whp Dyno Jun 2010, wheel torque/bhp Still going well on original clutch and chains, 172k miles!

Looks pricey. See what the Odyssey prices are like for a comparable battery?

Operation weight save - lets all have a crack at it!

Sorry to be boring, but this weight-saving malarky has some nice side benefits too: just managed 39.7mpg (on the OBC) for a 40 mile journey from Farnborough to Hounslow. Good traffic, relaxed speed and good luck with traffic lights helped! -

Where's 39kg of easily removable weight?! Carbon canister, battery, fan, and ? Already had the carbon canister out, but replaced it at the weekend to see if smoothed the ever-so-slightly off idle it has at all (it didn't). -

Rear seats out: Bases: 1.65kg each (= 3.3kg) Backs: 6kg and 9kg (= 15kg) Hump: 1.2kg So that's another 20kg bang on gone... Sitting pretty high at the back now though, especially with only a gallon or two of fuel left (saving another 35kg or so..!). So that's a total of almost 61kg saved for about £50. Happy days. (saved 16.3kg on jack, 10kg on exhaust, 7.4kg on parcel shelf, 7kg on driver's seat, 20kg on rear seats) Just got 188bhp on Surrey Rolling Road, so to mirror the previous working: 1240kg, 188bhp = 151.6 bhp/ton, 1175kg, 188bhp = 160 bhp/ton, 1240kg, 160 bhp/ton = would need 198.4bhp. -
Or 'add lightness', for not a lot of cash!

Octane rating doesn't have anything to do with the burn rate or temperature - it's the measure of resistance to pre-ignition. However, the only thing I can come up with is that the super has a (coincidentally) higher energy density than regular. To get 37mpg I am staying well away from full throttle (well 99% of the journey :-)), so octane shouldn't make any difference to the timing... A bizarre, but repeatable, result.
-
Either way, I regularly get 30 or 40 more miles out of a tank with Super, which negates it's extra expense per litre. I have also just managed a 37.1mpg run on a leisurely commute back to home over 40 odd miles. This is from cold, with a few miles of twisties, some full throttle out of a couple of roundabouts onto dual carriageway, 35 miles on the motorway at 56mph and a mile of traffic round Chiswick. Not bad for 170k mile 2.9 litre!

I really like how my C drives, especially considering I do a lot of bumpy B-roads. However, from a purely aesthetic point of view, I would like a bit less arch gap! For a small budget, is something like the above the way forward? Or is it possible to get some aftermarket (-30mm-ish) springs with a similar spring rate to the OEM ones? Cheers!

Asked for a discount, they said £128 if you pay in cash...

This has been sitting on my shelf for a while, but after a bit of a fuss involving a snapped bolt, I have fitted this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT Ended up being just under £50 inc P&P. These are 80A shore hardness, so just softer than a Black Forest industries Stage 1 (85A). This should be stock - any increase in vibration is negligible, but the subtle changes to the way it drives are noticeably better. Well worth £50 and half an hour of your time IMHO!

Anyone got their's working on a Mac?!

I have ventured on to German eBay as I there a very few decently priced options in the UK - search for 'polyurethan'. My front mount should arrive next week...

Bit of a thread resurrection, but... Took some stuff out of the VR this weekend after fitting my new exhaust and realising quite how much the VW weighs! Spare tyre & jack - 16.3kg OEM exhaust - 20.8kg (assume Milltek weighs about 10kg) Rear parcel shelf (with upgraded speakers) - 7.4kg Front OEM seat - 16.9kg (Corbeau bucket 6.5kg plus subframe = c.10kg) Obviously the replacements weigh something, but I had already installed them without weighing them first (doh)... but that's still taking well over 40kg out without much effort. To come over the summer: Odyssey PC680 battery (6.7kg vs 16kg stock) Spal fan (1.5kg, vs ? stock fan plus cowling) Rear seat lightening of some sort (still want to keep the ability to take a rear passenger) Lightweight flywheel (c.5kg vs c.8kg stock, weight loss a side affect to polar inertia!) Should be another 15kg minimum easily. -
Hey, my first spot - cheers!

Same, but mine intermittently works, so guess it's just a continuity problem. Trace the wire I guess?

Heard good things about yellows - going to replace my M1144s with them next time.

I replaced my tie rod ends and rods recently - pretty straightforward job. Got these - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... 8c9b6&TRAS Inner is fixed to the rod. Easy as pie as long as you manoeuvre the steering so you can get a spanner to the flat on the inner end. Much improves the steering! Remember to grease up the threads so future tracking adjustment is easy.

About to buy full Milltek system for Storm - any thoughts?

Quick one - do all Corrado exhausts fit the same, or are they specific to engine? Thanks. -
Many thanks - keep forgetting the wiki (does the search look there?)! 1) Seen the GB and would love an LSD, but trying to keep costs right down I'm afraid! Reckon I can do this for 2) Will keep my eyes peeled for a G60 box then. Will the FD from a 2l 16v (CGY/CES) fit? 3) I presume a 3.94 FD would be unsuitable for every-day road use...

Have spent all morning searching the forum for this, so forgive me if you think these are daft questions...: 1) What is the gearbox code for a standard UK Corrado VR6? 2) Is there a UK gearbox that is a direct swap for the above, with a 3.68 FD? 3) How difficult is it to to swap FDs in the current box? I have the usage of a full motorsports garage, and am quite handy with a spanner so labour is effectively free. Thanks!

Hi - just wondering if anyone can identify where and why this seep is from? Seems to be in/near the black box and this tubing (PCV?) http://i50.tinypic.com/2lawles.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/1gope.jpg Thanks for any ideas! (clicky for big pics)
