VW roundel - two clips, Corrado script - four clips. My 16v badge was stuck on, so I assume the G60 one is as well?

Fair do's, no experience of fitting Mk4 one's myself, only Mk3.

It can sometimes be possible to exercise and free off the mechanism, but if it works at all will probably just be a temporary fix. Sounds like youl'l probably need a new rear caliper I reckon. If it's the early type I would replace them with the 'later' type, which is basically Mk3 Golf and is less prone to the handbrake mech seizing, instead of the 'early' Corrado / Mk2 Golf type. This way it's a straight easy swap. Some people advocate replacing with Mk4 Golf calipers but I beleive that's more trouble. I replaced my 'early' type calipers for the Mk3 Golf type 4 years ago and they've been perfect ever since. It's not majorly expensive or difficult to do, apart from the caliper attachment bolts with stupid allen key heads on them. Make sure you thoroughly soak the bolts with WD40 or similiar, to save rounding the heads off. If you get majorly stuck I'm local! Just to see if it's the caliper mech seizing or not, get someone to apply / release the handbrake (on a level surface!!!!), while you take a look under the car at the rear calipers. Where the cable attaches to the caliper there should be a kind of bracket. Does this move 'on' and 'off' as the handbrake is released? If when the handbrake is released the cable kinks / goes slack and the bracket stays still, the caliper is seizing.

vr6storm, Hmmm, not gone for it,..... yet! Keep getting put off by comments about an auto being less desirable and that it should perhaps therefore be cheaper than it is, but then I keep thinking back to the lovely interior, and the great drive......., but then I think of the high fuel prices at the moment, and don't think I could bear to sell my 16v, .....ho hum, reckon I will be going for it just as soon as I can dare to check my bank balance! Thanks for the heads-up on the mag, could be interesting!

If it aint broke, don't fix it, if it's broke after you fix it, try un-fixing it again, I reckon! :|

Hmmm, that's such a co-incidence you might get some help from whoever installed your stereo in tracing the fault, or at least they could confirm it's not down to them by double checking the connections they made. Worth a try? I don't suppose your stereo flicks on and off in time with the indicators does it.... Even if they haven't made an incorrect connection it's possible they may have pulled apart a connection to the indicator accidentally whilst playing with the wiring for the stereo.......

Think you beat me by about 30 minutes, but I did give the headlining a thorough clean while it was out of the car! Funny thing is i had a quote of 4 hours minimum to sort it out from a garage, just goes to show, provided you familiarise yourself first, DIY can often be best!

Ex-girlfriend showing all @ Max Power2004 !

If it is the girl referred to on the Corrado bonnet, no wonder it's taking you a while to get over it! On the other hand says she drives a Peugeot, so sod it, better off without! Seriously though, hope you feel better soon. ....can picture the scene though,....... You- 'OY!, get your bl##dy polyester bikini bottoms off the Corrado, youl'l scratch the paint...' Her-'Bl##dy hell, you think more of the car than me!' You- 'Yeah, well at least the Corrado never answers back...!' Her- 'That's it, I'm leaving!' etc etc...... -
Gonna be a pain in the arse, but if as you say it wasn't the bulb, I would follow the wiring back from the non operating indicator looking for any accidental damage to the cables. Presumably it's only one indicator not operating?

Doesn't matter what you spend - Boxster Disaster??

Damn right, give 'em hell and go to the top. I had many issues with Norwich Union Direct at one point, eventually got the name and direct office address of their Director, two page (but reasonably, never aggresively) toned letter straight to him got me a decent cheque in the post for my inconveniences! A drop in the ocean compared to your woes though, good luck with it, I reckon youl'l be fine if you persist, and remain a reasonable complainer at all times.! -
Matt GTi, .....'My new VR6, Ice grey violet, full black leather, air con, K+N Induction kit' ....think I want to buy your car, exact spec. I'd ideally want! :)

Easy to see whether the cable has been changed, just take a look under the car and you can see where it attaches to the caliper, does the cable outer look clean? Is the rubber boot at the caliper end looking new and in one piece? It is feasible to change the cable quite easily in 1 hour, and it sounds like they charged you the right price for it too, about £15. Sounds to me though like you have the known problem of a seizing caliper handbrake mechanism......

Corrado with Morris Minor van bodykit? bit more clarification of what you mean....

Nearly as cheap as petrol then! Seriously though, always preferred using Silver to Gold anyway myself on a 16v.

Yep, but these are working trips, obviously, ahem, cough, well....mostly

Yay, got in there first!... stands for Volkswagen Audi Group. Not sure if it's the same where you are, but basically the suggestion is to try your local VW dealership as best option.

dinkus, Nah :D , have been attempting Dutch for a few years now, on and off. Work for branch of KLM, so comes in useful. Not brilliant, but getting there. Free trips to Amsterdam once in a while, so not a bad job really 8)

Prima, ik ben onder de indruk! Avatar is nice too 8)

Reminds me of when I hired a V6 Chevy in Florida for a week in 97. Filled it right up from empty, and it worked out at an astonishing £6 total! 'Great' Britiain'? hmmm. Think there's gonna be a huge traditional British back-lash over this soon, apparently last week some guy down the road tutted, and another guy shrugged his shoulders quite aggressively yesterday down the pub...there's gonna be trouble

I would say do it with about ten 1/4" holes, on the side facing the wing, but don't go over-board with the holes. You can always put more in if you want to.

And my airline card, came in very handy last time round

colinstubbs, Sorry mate, don't have the part number, but stealer should be able to get one no probs. Just be careful they give you the correct one. Seems to be a smaller bright finished version with a kind of clip over the middle, and a larger duller finish one (as per the piccy). Stealer tried to palm me off with the smaller one with the clip, but wouldn't quite fit my car, so they gave me the correct one eventually. P.S - Like your signature, sums up my attitude to religion nicely. :)

Circlip, as indicated at the tip of the white pen. Check the spring forward of this in the piccy as well while your'e there, but reckon if that had broken you'd have trouble with accurate shifting. I'm betting it's a missing circlip.
