I'm no expert, but I would be looking at the 'fifth injector' which injects a bit more juice during start up from cold. If it is the ISV it's a doddle to change, might be worth cleaning it internally first though as it gets a bit guncky over time. Failing that I would be looking for air leaks, especially at the pipe that goes to the top right (as you face the engine) of the cam cover. As i say I'm no expert on the engine, so can't go in to too much detail on the above points, but from a fair few years of 16v ownership that's what I would be looking at, followed by the electrical side of things, leads, rotor arm etc.... hope you get it sorted.

As above replies, the indicator thing is normal 'parking lights'. The oil on the air filter again is normal unless it's very heavy contamination.

Wow, my search is over, with these 'wheels lids'!

..welcome to the.....Forum Club, and 'VR power'! 8) 16v 'aint so bad either, owners motto . 'just coz it feels like your'e thrashing it to death doesn't make it wrong!

...and then realised that must be the new sender I have fitted a few days ago. (049 919 563B). The plot thickens, think I'm gonna check the wiring as that seems to be the right sender for the guage now. Thanks anyway for the info, given me a new direction to explore.

Nice one Henny, , I had it on good authority you'd see me right! Next stop stealers. 8)

Erm....bump! :D Henny?, anybody, somebody! :D Showing an oil temp of 65 deg now on a 16v is a little optimistic even for me! Need the part number of the correct sender with 10M x 1.5M thread for the VDO oil temp gauge part no. 855 919 541. Probably originally fitted to an Audi coupe.

Looking damn fine, must be something I can add? Oh yeah, recently posted up the VDO Wiring Guide pdf on the Forum, worth adding in perhaps? If you can't find it (I'd have no idea how to 'link' to it) PM your e-mail and I'll forward it to you.

Now that would be a damn fine idea....a database of common engine noises to watch out for and what they are....

...erm, me too!

Think it looks great myself! Isn't there a lovely siver one in the Karmann Museum too. I'd have one, no problem 8)

I have owned (#shudder#) in the past a lovely marsupial beige Morris Marina, with luxurious plush brown vinyl, if you like a sweaty arse and the pleasure of gingerly peeling your legs off it in summer, PVC's the one for you! Youl'l never get out of the car quickly again, unless you like the feeling of getting your legs waxed! Leather, definately. P.S. Where is this guy based, for that price I'm interested myself.

Come on guys, somebody must know. Thought I'd sorted it by fitting Sender 049 919 563B (0 to 180 deg.), but now instead of showing 130 deg when actually at 100, the gauge says just over 60 deg. There must be a sender to pair up with the 60 to 170 deg VDO oil temp gauge, with 10M x 1,5 fitting?

I take it Pablo likes it!

Rank, just rank! Imagine if you turned up to a CCGB Meet in that.

Cheers, let us know if you want to sell your 13 row one on!

Oh well, I suppose the dark haired bint was some consolation!

I'm just waiting for the scene where he has a smelly body in the boot of the Corrado, tries to turn the blower motor to full...'damn, it's jammed'.......tries to open sunroof...'bugger, forgot itl'l only tilt not slide'.... ...cut to scene of him dumping body at side of road, gets caught, the end!
-
aposegil, Can you give me a few pointers on a decent oil cooler brand and prices to fit to KR 16v? Ta!
-
Well, last week I put a 4" hole in the plastic trim that sits between the rad and the offside headlight in the engine bay, and she seems to run about 5 to 10 degrees cooler on a run, which has really surprised me. Worth a try perhaps, as well as looking in to all the above. How hot does she get? Around 100 degrees is pretty normal I beleive, is it higher than that?
-
Ah, yep, very true! Don't think it will have gone up in price much though.
-
Used to have one of those as a child, but never got the hang of pedalling it!

Every insurer I've tried wants at least a Cat 1 Immoboliser. I've had an Autowatch 172RLi for 5 faultless years, cost about £100, and best of all it's a remote immobiliser, and with a total closure module added in , well worth it!

Ah, erm, not totally sure, in properties it says created April 03, if that helps. Program list on PC calls it Quicktime 32 bit.
