my breaks are getting shoddy now, skweaking and pulling, i need to know what breaks fit on a 1.8 16v (standard alloys 15") and if i can get them off another car which ones? also need to know what i need hear lots to do with bearings and flushing the brak fluid?? anyways theres enough threads on here on how to do it but none on what is needed and where to get it from? cheers

Hi People As the subject explains i need a new gearbox. mines ready to pass away at any moment and im not the richest person, so would like ideas/advise on what gearboxes fit a 1990 1.8 Rado? Im looking at either 2nd had ones i can get from a scrappers for cheap.

defo change the engine mate, kepp it off the road until you can afford it, dont let the shell go to waste

yeah, it takes me 45 mins to get to work and a good 30-35 mins sat in traffic, it possibly did better due to the lack of traffic this morning.

Hi Guys ive done the sparks,leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm. i have checked the timing and it was out by a tooth or 2 but has been corrected now and also the idle has been changed so is doing better, i got upto 31.7mpg this morning, thats about 10mpg more than usual. Next step is for the fuel system pressue, how can i check this?

Hello People I have been offered a 1.8 engine which produces 220BHP (proven from a rolling road) apperently its got 4 throttle bodies instead of the air inlet. Anyone know anything about these? Any ideas of how much this thing would be? Cheers

DONT DO IT!!!!!! I had a guy after my last car (fiesta) he was on holiday and said he will pay by bankers draft, everything was agreed and he advised a shipping company will collect the vehcile. i told him i wasnt prepered to let the vehcile go until the monies had been cleared, thats was the last i head from him. ive heard lots of stories about this thing happening. just watch your self!!

That will be your Battey, i had this problem with mine when i bought it, it was sat on this guys drive for 6 months, we re-chared the battery but it still didnt work. i went and borrowed a battery off a friend and it worked first time. the charged battery had enough power to start the ignition ect but not enought to turn the car over, Hope this helps

Cheers Dave, this will keep me busy for a while, ive done sparks, leads upto now which has helped slightly, think the next step is the dizzy and rotor arm. Just has a new timing belt which helped again, i was getting 10 - 15 MPG to start with, which was nightmare going to work costing £10 per day.

Cheers for that, im new to this so i dont know what VAG-COM is??? Also i was having issues with the damn thing starting when its cold, someone mentioned this Lambda probe, is it an expensive thing to change?

Hi as you can tell from my recent posts, ive recently purchsed a 18. 16v with a whole cluster of problems. the next one is the MPG, i travell approx 40 miles per day in the C and get approximatly 20mpg and if the road is clear i can sometimes can get 25-28 MPG, from what i have read on the parkers guide i should be getting a lot more. any ideas on how to solve this issue? The other enquiry was can this be re-mapped? or superchipped?

Cheers for the advise, i can see some lump of metal behind the wires, i will take my hacksaw to it next weekend, hopefully this will sort it. All the connections etc are fine, how can i check the battery and alternator?

Sorry it would help, no its no VR, im in new starter in the corrado leauge and only 21 is i can only afford the 1.8 16V

Hi After 2 attempts of patching the hole in the middlebox it still blowing, anyone know where to get exhaust pipe replace and remove the middlebox entirely? is this a good idea? a friend advised it will do better on performance and sound a lot better, but i presume anything will sound better than a blowing exhaust!! All ideas/advise appriciated.

Hi Firstly i have a decent Alpine headunit which wont fit in my 1.8 16V, it sticks out at least 2". Any ideas of whats stopping it fit properly or is there a certian headunit which will fit in? Secondly i have fitted a Fusion Sub and Amp but to get this to work the revvs have to be on, if its sat idle with the lights on then it wont work, i have to revv the engine for the bass to kick in!!!! It feels like its getting no power, do i need to upgrade anything or get a new battery? All replies appriciated, Thanks
