Hi Peeps Quick one fot you, how do i get an olloy of 45ET to fit on a hub which is 35ET? Cheers
-
Hiya mate, I wouldnt be accepting £1k for a VR. When mine was written off (1.8 16V) they offered me £550 initially. Managed to negotiate to £1100. I work in insurance and can confrim if the costs of repairs to the vehicle exceeds the value then they will write it off. But if you can prove the cost of your VR is say £1800 or more you may have a chance at negotiating repairs. I would definatly keep the car and the salvage value is negotiable still. From what you have mentioned about your VR i would say £2K settlement with keeping the remains. If you have any problems or issues drop me a PM and i will help if needed.

Funily enough i only had a good read of this post last friday. finished work and was on my way home, sat in very heavy traffic. Put the windows down so i could get some fresh air and not fall asleep and i some guy in the passenger seat of a van shouts over "how long have u had that then" and then generally asks me a few questions about the C and gives me some praise about mine. He says he has 2 mint MK2 golfs if i fancied a swap. My response was how mint are they?? swapping a mint MK2 golf for a average KR Valver. His excuse for the swap is that he couldnt get hold of a C anymore, i advised he was looking in the wrong places. Then i was fueling up later friday night and a guy waiting for the pump i was using told me that my C looked to be in good nick and was nice to see, Then he explained this his dad passed away recently and he has a mint G60 sat in his garage but didnt know weather to keep it or sell it. I akwardly gave him my number and advised under no pressure to give me a call if he comes to sell. i could either get the info and post on here or if i had the money be greedy and have 2 C's

Hi Mate Ive got an early valver and been looking for some dials with no luck. Is there any chance you can do me set? Just let me know what you want for them and if you can do em i will give you my idea for design. They will be illuminated from the original green light which is there. if UV is better (think i read that somewhere) i will look into getting my lights changed too.
-
Ive always wondered if my C was early or late. i have the VDU dials (which wasnt in my early valver) and the dash is black yet the rest of the trim is gray. I beleive the VDU and the black was later peices of the puzzles

Hi people, Got the car jacked up and manged to chase the leak, not sure if this is where its coming from but its as far as can see. basically where the belts etc are its dripping down there. theres one pulley with a few round things on the side and that as far as i can chase it. is there any seal or anything next to this or any hoses above it which i can propably see under the car? any advise or ideas is much appricated.
-
Its grim innit mate, im having to use my mums Pug 206 CC :camp:
-
Looks like its a valver not a VR, 4 studs on the rims and just about see the V on the 16v grill badge. Watson what do you think? Sounds like a good trip too. The VR was a random guess, still after time/costs involed tho!!
-
Your pics are quality mate, always wanted to take my C on a trip but i dont have as much faith as you have. If you dont mind im after some cost/timescale on touring to holland and back. do you have a rough idea of fuel usage and timesacle. Obviously your VR will use more fuel than my measly valver. :salute:

Thanks David, it will have to wait till this weekend before i can jack it up and have a look. Are the pipes/waterpump costly to replace?
-
Right guys, ive put water in the tank and its pissed out underneath. cant see much coz of the snow. I can see water dripping from under the cambelt. is there any pipes round there??
-
worst would be head gasket if you let it run to long with no coolant but I wouldn't jump to conclusions. check the oil using the dip stick, if it looks creamy or frothy then thats bad news... if not then open your water bottle, start your engine and give the bottle a sniff, if your head gasket has gone you should smell exhaust in the coolant, if thats a no top up the coolant replace the cap and let the engine get up to temp, then let the engine cool until you can squeeze the hoses easily (low water pressure).open up the water vessel again and see if there is any frothy, milky crap floating about or rainbow patterns over the surface. If not then just chillax and pray its just a couple of hoses that needs replacing[/quote:2idrtvv4] Cheers again Alex Yeah im hoping nothing more than a replacement hose.

Cheers for the replys guys, will be having a look this eve. Just for info purposes whats the worst damage i could have done damage wise here? rad? gasket?? Thanks
-
was there any water coming out from under the car? any steam in the engine compartment?[/quote:5emj341g] Hi Alex Didn't really look into it that much but when i popped the bonnet there was steam coming from the lower part of the engine, say between the rad and belts. I just threw a load of swear words at it and drove 0.2m back home.

Hi People Just need some advice on what my issue could have been this morn. After de-icing the outer and INNER!! of the C i set off to work in the minus 8 degree temps and i didnt get far when the temp light came on. I was getting just warmish air from the vents and had topped the water in the tank up the day before. but i can possibly be certain there was no anti-freeze in the water. All the water had gone from the tank and smell from the engine was very warm. i presume it was the lack of anit-freeze, but i dont want to just presume. Any advise, tips or abuse welcome. Thanks

Haha, thats what i thought when i first found this out. I bought a sub from a friend of a friend. When i was wiring it up i noticed it was filled with the inners of a pillow. I tested the sub both with the cotton in and out and there was quite a big difference. I still dont understand the logic but it works. I asked the seller about it and he was advised to do this for better sound. Thats all i can tell you im afraid.
