  1. I wouldn't bother spending too much on the rears- fronts are much more important! Personally I'd go with the Brembo discs that GSF sell. Really good for the money and don't tend to warp at all. I'd go with standard or cheap-ish Pagid pads.
  2. Woah, brilliant work, Alex! Glad the scuttle area we cut out for you has gone to good use- a real work of art! 8)
  3. That's a shame, Jon :( You should be able to make a bit from Ebay though...
  4. Welcome matey! Sounds nice 8) Go for a turbo- you know you wanna!
  5. Gutting mate :( Did you get the reg? I would defo make a claim... not cheap to sort out even a minor scrape + it's not your fault! I've been bumped 3 times in the work carpark in the last few months- every time the culprit has driven off. Grrr!
  6. Is it a common prob on Volvos? What year is it?
  7. :tumbleweed: Seriously though- wish I could help, but don't know the first thing about welding. Sounds like a great car though- defo worth saving if you can!

    Woah, that's quick!
  9. Octavia hatch or estate. Absolutely love our vRS estate- perfect family car- so practical, yet fast and fun when needed. It takes such a battering from the kids and does loads of miles. Nothing's gone wrong in over five years of ownership.
  10. Mate, I've got the half set- I'm 10 mins off J14 M5. You're more than welcome to borrow them, although I'm out all day today...
  11. Nice one, Dave! It's taken a while!
  12. Thanks Jon! Just saved myself £15 8)
  13. Wish I hadn't have looked at that! That 16v wrapped around the lamp post (think it's post no. 34) is one of the worst crash pics I've seen! :(
  14. You'll be very, very lucky to find those bits in tan!
  15. Very, very nice! Like it a lot- black interior, gauges, sensible mods. Obviously been looked after too :)
  16. Can't believe they didn't fit a new bias valve. Crazy! At least it's in good hands now ;) Lovely car by the way :)
  17. That looks truly stunning, mate! New paint makes such a huuuuge difference 8)
  18. Rear beam looks superb mate! And as for the exhaust! Great work :)
  19. Haven't updated for a while! Done a few bits and bobs over the last few months- most notably engine mounts. DG fitted a solid rubber MK2 diesel gearbox mount a while ago. After that, the car seemed to have a lot of engine movement. As it had a front Vibratechnics mount, I assumed it was due to the rear mount (still the original!). Changed this out myself for a new rear VT mount. The original mount seemed in OK condition when I removed it. Unfortunately, this didn't solve the prob, so did the old handbrake test and found the front mount seemed to have some play :( Money's tight, so couldn't afford a brand new VT mount, and couldn't find anywhere that sells replacement inserts. Black Forest Industries have loads of well-priced inserts, but don't ship to the UK... Did a bit of research on here and on VR6OC and found that quite a few Golf VR6 drivers are using a solid front mount. Wasn't too keen on the idea- had a solid mount on my last 16v and it gave horrible vibrations at idle etc. However, after looking at the reviews, the guys on VR6OC seemed very impressed and also said it gives next to no extra vibrations, due to the cross-member bushings. So I bought one off Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Mk3-VR6-S ... 2c59852c78 . Well-priced and arrived quickly. It's a really nice piece of kit! Fitted it last night, and took for a good old drive this morning... it's superb! The car feels amazing + there is basically NO extra vibration. Totally cured the engine movement, gearchange feels better too. Would totally recommend this mount :)
  20. 1. Ant Massacre 2. Bristol Volksfest- a really nice surprise. At a new location, cracking weather (sunburn!), really busy and a damn good turnout of Corrados. Camping next year, methinks :) 3. Difficult one: CrazyDave's VRT OSV's VR6 My old 16v (now owned by V8rumbler- for sale though) 4. DG Autotech + Awesome GTI- so good on price, service etc.
