Picked up new wheels & leather handbrake handle form PhillT. Gave the insides of the wheels a damn good clean, and fitted them. Took the car to my local tyre place to get new tyres fitted + tracking/laser allignment only to be told they were shutting early 'cos they were of to a wedding in Swindon  Tyres & allignment on Monday then!
-
Got that going on in the background, but the other 'creak' is much louder. Also does it when I depress the brake pedal when the car's cold. Might have to take the under-dash off again and have another nosey under there :?
-
Thanks to PhillT for my new wheels and handbrake handle. Nice to meet you- good luck with your G60 project- looking forward to seeing the finished results!

Bigger wheels look better, but the bigger they get, the more it affects the handling. IMHO, a 16" wheel is the perfect compromise. Borbet C's are the business, although they're like hen's teeth in the correct size. I've just changed my 17's for some standard Corrado G60 rims which are 15's, and look cracking. Is your car lowered? This is also something to consider, and will make the standard 15's look better.

These badboys arrived from Mytyres yesterday 8) Picking up my new rims tomorrow morning and will hopefully get the rubber fitted + laser allignment when I get back.

Sorry to hear the news :( It's very difficult- they really do become part of your family. Still miss my dog loads- he was put down 5 years ago! You'll feel better as time goes by, and instead of getting upset, you'll have a smile on your face when you remember her  :) -
Any ideas guys?

Impreza WRX fastback? Thought about getting one before we bought the vRS. Just wasn't quite big enough though :(
-
Welcome. Nice to see another so' west member :) That's a nice standard early C- has it been lowered?
-
Get a flat head screwdriver onto that tab, and it should slide off pretty easily.

People use the solid Golf MK2/3 diesel gearbox mount. Vibratecnics mounts are popular, but pricey. I've got a front mount which was around £120 fitted. Good thing about these is that when they wear out, you only need to replace the insert which isn't too expensive. Other than that you could go for genuine VAG or a pattern part from GSF, ECP or AVS.
-
Got a new VT front mount, so can't be that. Maybe it's one of the others?
-
Bare in mind, most people on here will recommend VAG cars  Go and drive a few and see what you like- best way to make your mind up.
-
VTI also has aircon, headlamp washers and half leather as standard

Know it's time consuming, but go and have a drive of them all. They're all quite different. I'd say the Civic is defo more fun to drive than the 1.8T. Never driven the Volvo, so can't comment. The 1.8VTI engine is pretty good all through the rev range, unlike a lot of other VTEC's, which can be pretty gutless when not in the 'zone'. It's an excellent engine, which is a slightly detuned version of the engine found in the late 1990's Integra Type-R.
-
Forgot to say, the 1.8VTI also has a LSD.
-
Hmmm, tough choice! Think I'd go for the Passat for build quality & tuning capability. Then again, the VTI is a bit mental and really good fun. Would prob be more reliable too. I've had 3 Civics (N-reg 1.6 VTI, V-reg 1.8VTI and R-reg 1.6 LSI coupe), and didn't have to spend a single penny on any of them! Liked the 1.8 VTI best to drive- very useable power as it's more torquey than the others. If you get one, get a CAI fitted. When it comes on cam it sound fantastic!

Nice and standard. Can't go wrong with a black C 8) The late ride height always amazes me!
-
Roddy, not really. More of a typical 'creak', and only when the pedal is around 3/4 released at it's biting point. Had window down this morning and sounds quite loud from outside the car. I tried to rock the engine. It hardly moved, but it did make the same creaking sound (although it was not as pronounced). Could it be a mount?
-
My wife loves the C, and totally understands my obsession. When I got this one, she said she wouldn't let me sell it 'cos I'd miss it too much. She doesn't like driving my cars though, in case she crashes.
-
 Cheers dude. Will check it out tomorrow.

Seems to be inside...
-
Cheers. How can I stop it? It's doing my head in!

Been getting a creaking sound coming from the clutch when I lift off. Seems worse first thing in the morning, and sometimes also seems to come from the brake pedal :? It's getting worse and seems to be coming from inside the car under the dash. It doesn't happen when I change gear when the car is stationary, only happens on the move. I took the dash panel out below the steering wheel and lubed up all the mechs etc, but it just appears to be getting worse. Very occasionally, I can also feel a slight click through the pedal. Please tell me my clutch isn't going! It doesn't slip or anything. Could it be the gearbox mount? Cheers.

G60 BBS rims are nice, but a right royal PITA to clean!
