Shit me how much have you spent on bodywork,...!!!
-
1) so is why they have helper springs...?
-
yes thats it, thought it was the same on my mk2 but wanted to check..
-
When the car is jacked up there`s movement at the top part of the suspension.. should there be..?
-
whats happening next mate...? what shows are you attending this year..? The cars taken a bit of a back seat recently as I've had a lot going on but hopefully should be able to start cleaning the engine bay in the next week. Hopefully should be able to clean/refurb a few more parts as well (brakes and suspension) but we'll have to wait and see if time allows. As for shows, I'm not too sure. Mainly due to me being quite new to the show scene and still finding out which ones are my kind of thing. I tend to enjoy the air/water mixed shows mostly. The Harewood house one looks a good one but I'm not too interested in those out and out modified shows. I feel a little out of place at those as I don't own a hoody or glow in the dark trainers. Yet to have a look at show dates so will probably weigh it up closer to the times. How about you. You earmarked any shows (Can't wait to see your car once the paint's all finished) ? stanford hall tatton park harewood house bvf same as you mate more chilled out shows with a good mix of water/air cooled...

it comes with the usb cable and its great, not too many features to baffle you but just what you need for a good sound and illuminates green to match the dash.. mine came fitted with the silver one but then sourced a black one which suits better.. you can always try mine first if you want[/quote:245dhyz1] Cheers fella Funny that you said about it illuminating green as the missus has been having a go at me for years saying my pioneer doesnt match the dash very well and looks like blackpool illuminations (as it flashes) haha also was it easy to fit ive seen a couple of the units wiring harnesses and they have a big silver box coming out of the back and with the corrado having feck all room at the back to get the stereo in?[/quote:245dhyz1] took the side panel off from the passenger side to make it easier.

Back to the bodyshop tomorrow, having the bonnet and both wings done, inside the petrol cap for laquer peel and small dent on roof.. plus all the buffing to be done on previous parts they`ve painted.. Hopefully that should be it then, it should be pretty mint...fingers crossed.. :?

Just sorted out my wiper motor, just needed to be adjusted on the motor side to have the wipers sitting right... pain of a job tbh
-
Yeah im trying to get them cheaper though[/quote:1lzp5t0c] awesome sometimes have deals on so worth trying them mate...

Did this last week took 30 minutes, only thing i did different was having to jack the car on the sills to get the trolly jack under the gearbox as mine has been lowered.
-
Trying to keep the car as original as possible, but thanks for the offer. I feel guilty daring to put a non standard steering wheel on ! I agree that the later controls are easier on the eye but that's what VW intended so that's how it's staying (as long as it's in my ownership !). whats happening next mate...? what shows are you attending this year..?

number plate surround obsolete now Any other advance on it being obsolete, no doubting Mr C5 OEM but merely querying as I've heard of parts being obsolete then suddenly some are available...? june this year, i got one of the last ones.. not sure as and when they would bring parts back

Picked up the new vw mount today, genuine solid rubber mount. Took about 30minutes to fit and engine feels alot better, still has movement but much improved.
-
Yep I've heard that said too but can only speak from experience and say I've not had the slightest issue since getting mine fitted at D&G last year. which ones have you had replaced..?
-
I had my engine mounts changed last year and went for standard ones instead of the Vibra Technics ........what kind of improvements would I have seen with the Vibra ones then KIP  ?? Hope this doesnt clog your thread up too much C5 OEM :? from what people say there`s less engine movement and better response but sometime makes the gear change a bit harsh..
-
Just ordered the gearbox mount from vw and they only list the solid rubber mount for the vr6 now..
-
The bolt that holds the lower part of the front mount had fallen out, i must have forgot to tighten it up when rebuilding the front end..!! fitted it back on but still feels a bit of movement from the gearbox mount... whats the part number for the mk2 diesel one....??
-
Think i`ll go for the genuine front mount first and go from there, the one thats in is prob the original so worth starting there and then looking at the gearbox if that doesnt cure it.. It`ll be sorted asap as i`m a fussy sod with my cars and wont even drive to the shops if its not polished and clean... big time ocd...
-
standard mount, dont thin its worked loose but will look closer in the morning.. oh well good time to up grade i suppose..
-
fitted the front end back together couple of weeks ago and everything felt ok.. did give it some beens today..!!??? oh well... sick as a chip.!!!!!
-
Just had another look and dont know if i`ll need the gearbox mount as well; the engines moving corner to corner...???
-
wont be that much for the mount and i`ll fit that myself, paint wise i`ll see the guy tomorrow but its just something else to pay for..!!!!
-
Just took the car out for a spin, did give it some stick and whilst accelerating hard heard a noise and thought nothing of it untill i got home and saw a nice dent in the bonnet which has cracked the paint..!!!! Looks like the front mount has gone..!!! even though it felt ok when i put it back together... nice rub mark on the manifold..!!!!! :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:
