  2. ha kinda what i thought :) new filter being collected 2day, fingers crossed all goes well
  3. thanks all, much appreciated :) do you think its worth changing the filter as well as the clips holding the pipes onto it? i have wiped the cylinder clean and no new residue has appeared & no other running problems are obvious thanks again
  4. please please please could someone help me with my VR6 i have a very tiny fuel leak & after many hours searching on here i can not find anything which relates to my issue......im hopeing someone on here may have had something similar or be experienced enough to help :) description is..... it is a wierd 1!! basically when u look under the offside rear and follow the pipe which looks like it comes from the fuel tank the pipe has an interchanger to connect to what i think is the fuel pump......can anyone tell me where the fuel pump is on a vr6 as i am guessing & some posts on here are saying it may be in the fuel tank and if so i dont know what the object is im reffering to? the leak seems to either be from the pipe wich connects to what i think is the fuel pump......its a cylindrical shape obect with an obvious in & out pipe & has a plastic cowling over it.....on underside of car close to offside back wheel? thing is that the pipe doesnt seem to be or feel degraded & i dont know if a C fuel pump [if thats what it is] can leak fuel when it still works? plus it doesnt show a leak when engine running but when its stopped & been sat there for say 15 mins there is a tiny bit of fuel collecting on the metal clip holding the pipe in to the object further to this if the car is left for a couple of hours there is no sign of the leak at all and the pipe is dry i will try to post a pic of the object i refer to but if anyone has any ideas i would be most grateful........all i keep thinking of is my poor baby going up in flames :( lol thanks in advance
  5. i dont think there is an 'easy' way.......its a slow & very gentle route needed it was very tense in my experience as im sure non of us want to harm paintwork lol i used a heat gun, monitoring the temp constantly & worked them off very slowly & this worked great on passenger side think i got a little overzealous on drivers side tho as managed to loose a very small flake of paint :( but the doors will need addressing as the strips leave laquer lines another 4 the to do list lol
  6. the 2 'irrelevant' points u make are definately some of the rewards we reap for keeping them alive & kicking!!!! :)
  7. it is a wierd 1!! the leak seems to either be from the pipe wich connect to what i think is the fuel pump......on underside of car close to offside back wheel thing is that the pipe doesnt seem or feel degraded & i dont know if a C fuel pump can leak fuel when it still works? plus it doesnt show a leak when engine running but when its stopped & been sat there for say 15 mins there is a tiny bit of fuel on the metal clip holding the pipe in most odd but i need to investigate
  8. just thought id share.... the joys of corrado ownership, i normally wouldnt mind....they are aging cars blah de blah.....but why is it she seems to let you down when u really need her :censored: set the scene: big chill ticket [f***in expensive too] - check boooze & food - check tent & etc etc - check everything ready 4 ealry off in the morning.....& fuel leak appearing from nowhere, WTF!!!!!!!!! traced to hose feeding fuel pump & looks easy job but no time to fix, WHY NOW grrrrrrr!!!! i hate plan B's cause they mean no VR :gag:
  9. arrived today, thank you muchly m80!!! im presuming its an insert, twist till locks then pull out motion lol
  10. inifnity, infinity, infinity!!!! from a decent sony head unit i run infinity kappa 693i 6*9s in a modified and re-covered factory parcel shelf (so as speakers not visible) with the kappa 52.91's in the front doors - the sound reproduction is simply awesome!!!! plus the power of them at all ranges means i can save boot space with a smaller 10" sub & tiny amp :) highly recommended to inifnity & beyond!!!!
  11. just a quick note to say a big thanks to zerocool!!! very rapid response and despatch - if it were ebay there would be 5 stars LOL
  12. hello could you put my name on 1 when you return pls :) let me know how to get payment to you thanks muchly
  13. my rev counter does a similar thing - ie engine is running fine & the rev counter needle just dies, then it bounces around for a while & at some point it gets normal life again however the speedo & all other dials etc remain fine i have wondered if it is a loose wiring connection somewhere behind the dash clocks, as it does sometimes relate with the odd harsh bump/pothole [bloody UK roads grrrrrrr], but ive not been brave enough to start pulling the dash out lol not sure if this helps but might give you an idea maybe :)
  14. big thanks to all have posted, its much appreciated :) general check of all hoses, gators, etc etc all done during 1st few wks of owning [& she had been MOT'd days before i picked her up] so a quick once over methinks serpentine belt too as noticed cracks the lead removal tool & deep sockets, coolant flushing & stuff i didnt know about but will investigate here, thanks the ignition leads were just a thought but i had 37mpg on the 12 mile journey home the other night so she seems to run nicely :D again, thanks 4 the advice & if others have more to share pls feel free its all good....when your sat in your C!!!
  15. thanks for the posts cazza & ben TBH im a bit dissapointed with the lack of helpful replies tho.....i thought this is what the forum was all about really?
  16. evening all [time of writing :)] im preparing for the 1st service i give to my vr6 & hoped those on here may have advice & experience they wouldnt mind sharing :) brief history of my vr its completely standard approx 104k on clock last service at 98.4k - performed by the vw specialist the previous owners knew/used & was part of the purchase agreement brake fluid changed 11/06 at 94k [if i recall correct] no known issues [hope i dont tempt fate there] - apart from the usual occassional ABS light lol anyway.....i was hoping for suggestions on brands/types of spark plugs maybe ignition leads air filter oil [tho oilman has helped on this with his thread the other wk] brake fluid & would it need doing now any tools i may need to make it 'simples' & any other advice u think would be helpful :) thanks in advance peas to all
  17. if i recall correctly - or along the right lines - when my parents had their 2l rado their ABS light came on intermittently i believe the issue was due to the location VW chose for the ABS ECU as the box/contacts get wet the garage knew an electrician who replaced the connections - or something like that maybe it might point you in the direction does any1 know of anything similar as my ABS light is intermittent too lol other than that they used to do as previously suggested and remove the bulb - a good relationship with the MOT'er might be necessary tho :)
  18. i think im lucky like some on here, the guy on parts desk at my local dealer is great........the only PAIN is when VW themselves have obseleted the part!!!!! eg heated seat control dash switch - i mean come on VW - its not even like i can make a replacement myself!! most annoying as im sure many will agree
