My God!! A man cannot be more jealous than I was looking at that.

Amen to that!

just dug the invoice out, it's a £70 fine, £40 if paid within 28 days. Issued by UKPC (UK parking control Ltd) for using 2 spaces at Tesco, Broadbridge Heath in Horsham. This is the first time I've seen or heard of anything like this so beware if you live in West Sussex.
-
yep, photo evidence and all. I didn't think you could enforce parking rules on private land but it appears you can!

Got an invoice from the people we hire our works delivery vans from last week, £60 fine because one of our drivers parked in 2 spaces when he popped into Tesco for a whizz. Be warned people, they're ba**ards I tells ya.

I've never kerbed the Corrado but I did my girlfriends Clio 182 twice in the first 3 months she had it :nono: I was not popular for a while until she opened the MG door straight into the crease on my Corrado door, BIG dent. Now we're even. -
Operation weight save - lets all have a crack at it!

You are totally correct but recipriocating mass governs turn in, higher mass creates more gyroscopic force which requires greater energy to overcome that force. It will also adversely affect acceleration due to the torque being used to initially overcome the static mass of the wheel Unsprung weight relates to how well the suspension can work, a sweet handling and quickly accelerating car requires the wheels to have good contact with the road. The wheels need to be pushed down onto the road by the spring recoiling from the mass of the car rather than the suspension pushing the car up from the mass of the wheel which reduces adhesion. Every action has a equal and opposite reaction and all that. -

My 288mm calipers arrived yesterday, they are heavier than the 280s by a noticable margin plus the larger diameter discs will weigh more, 312mm have bigger carriers so will be heavier still . Not sure on the shock weights tho. You have raised a very good point. If you decrease sprung weight, you must then decrease unsprung weight by the same percentage. A saving of 10% on the mass above the suspension should be accompanied by a 10% saving below it, ie wheels, brakes, tyres, wishbone and suspension unit. You will need suspension adjustable for rebound and compression in order to dial out any handling maladies from saving unsprung weight. -
Yor VR like other Corrados has VW's A2 platform on the front so I expect Mk2 golf suspension could be made to fit, but the rear end is a B3 platform used on Passats of the same vintage as your car. So, no, Mk2 golf stuff wouldn't fit and even if it did all the spring and damping rates would be way out of whack. Check out Awesome GTI's site, they've got Special deals on KW V1's for Corrados at the mo.

I hope they're the same! :pale: I just bought a pair of Mk IV calipers (awaiting delivery) and they better fit or I'll be so pi**ed off at myself.
-
Yeah, the ATE 288mm calipers were late mk3 golf VR6 also used on Mk4 golfs and with different carriers and 6mm spacers will do 312mm too. It's all on here somewhere.

I've got A K&N 57i kit on my VR. The sound is delightful, a real deep bark but about 750 miles after I put it on, the car started to feel like it's lost a huge wedge of power and torque below 4500 rpm, pulls ok above that but not as fit as she was. From searches I've done on the forum I expect my MAF is up the creek or at least covered in air filter oil. Sorry this isn't a definative answer, I haven't VAG-COMed so this is my subjective opinion, but considering there have been no noticable performance gains (with no other engine mods) I wouldn't recommend the 57i to VR owners.

Hey Y'all, I've read this thread from start to finish, thinking I might put KW V1s on shortly, struggling to breathe with the altitude of the standard shocks. Been wondering though..... So many posts reviewing so many setups but no-one has mentioned the weight of their wheels, be they 18x9 or 15x6.5. I've been lead to believe unsprung weight ratios are one of the most relevant variables effecting how your suspension works? Whether you rate your setup or not could be hugely affected by the weight of your wheels/tyres or diet status of your lardy G/F? Or not, help me out here!! I'm on 16x6.5 BBS RX2 splits, not sure what they're off, 16x6.5, 5x100PCD, ET43, Beetle maybe? (Love to know...Someone...Please) Bloody heavy anyway. Anyone tried their suspension with heavy and light wheels? Would really like to know what difference it make to the ride quality. It's a VR by the way (PCD tells all!) Little help please, don't want to spend my suspension budget when the weighty wheels could spoil it all. Cheers guys, and Gals.
