  1. i`ve got a j reg 1.8 16v Hpi clear 42mm inlet with no casting stamp? although sonia`s g reg does recessed spots early bonnet early slider controls etc... did have early grill but now got VR6 one(doesnt fit but i bodged it!) and NO blue writing! woudlnt worry but VW should be able to clear it up if your really worried!! (i wasn`t but i`m thinking now..... joke!)  :D
  2. as far as the Elise goes you might look cool spinning around in one an inch off the floor but you do NOT look cool climbing out of it on your hands and knees-cos i couldnt get out the bugger! it might be alright if your about 5ft tall though
  3. found it a bit tricky to hold both round pins up and pull it out but thats how it works on mine!!
  4. finally fitted my new shocks an springs today absolutely fantastic!! i had to go round every roundabout till i was dizzy on my test run. i`ve left em on full soft for now, the ride feels firm but very complient over the bumps, really tight without much body roll, compared to sonia`s standard C its really responsive, with the slightest touch of the steering wheel the car begins to turn in! (have a guess what her cars getting next??) i had jamex setup before and although they felt fine they dont compare at all (and my front springs were in 3 pieces when i removed them!!!) for someone who doesnt need coilovers i can recommend this setup as a comfortable but sporty drive. thanx to Kev Haywire whose posts were very influential in my purchase! if anyones thinking about new shocks and springs save up the extra and get some of these! and thanx to everyone on here for such an informative and friendly forum-keep it up!!
  5. was the handbrake light on the dash lighting up intermittently?? when my slave went that was the first signs of a problem, unfortunatly i didnt really take much notice and got stuck in a multi story car park in liverpool!! the bleed nipple was seized so as a as a quick fix i just put some new fluid in and pumped the clutch by hand until it got some travel- got me back to anglesey! dunno if it`ll work all the time but worth a go if your stuck!!

    Wheel bearings

done a front wheel bearing today, the hub bolt was a b!t@h as was the ball joint one, air guns and a blow torch seemed to do the job after an hour or so, defo worth getting a proper press to but the bearing in the hub though!!
  7. yeah i`ve had that aswell about 12 months ago! tightened it up then but when i came to change my suspension today it was soooo tight i broke a snap-on tool belonging to my mechanic! in the end had to get it off using a scaffold bar for leverage. just be glad your wheel didnt fall off and check `em regularly!
  8. yeah it looks good from afar but the front arches just dont fit with the rest of the car, it looks lovely an` smooth but a bit too fat for my liking! the M3 looking mirrors arn`t too hot either although i do like the number plate!

theres a silver oettinger corrado for sale on autotrader at the moment, i put a post yesterday? cos it was branded oling special edition and i didnt have a clue wot one of them was!!
  10. cheers my bits are all going on on monday so i need to do it then, havnt got time to order new ones... can i cut the fronts??
  11. when cutting bumpstops, do you trim off the same amount as the is being lowered ie 30mm drop = trim bumpstops 30mm which end of these bumpstops do you trim when fitting to lowered suspension?? thanx
  12. not talking chargers here but if ur gonna spend say £500 on something that you might want to do better in the future, is it not cost effective ( as well as BHP effective)so do one thing at once and do the best you can afford and put other things on hold for now?? depends on how long your gonna keep your car what you wanna do to it and what you expect from it! personally, my feelings are get the best you can, after shopping around of course and it will benefit you in the long run. anyway i always want what i cant afford but its just a case of what your willing to put into it... and all boys (an` girls love toys, dont we??)
  13. sorry, i cant afford another one, me an` sonia got one each! just wondered on the spec! :D
  14. i did think oettinger but hadnt heard of it oling before so.... the grill is minging though looks like its off an oldsmobile or something.... wooden wheel... i dunno!!!!
  15. found his on auotrader anyone heard of this before 1990 G Reg VOLKSWAGEN Corrado 2.0 16V 3 Doors, Manual, Coupe, Petrol, 160,000 miles, Silver Metallic. A very rare Oling Limited Edition, wooden rim wheel, different alloys, different body kit all factory std. Fully documented SH, has been owned by the same family for years. Very good condition, Just serviced, MOT'd and fully alarmed. A very nice original ltd ed car.........07973 382454......All usual dealer fascilities £1,993. strange grill sorry dontknow how to do hyperlink? thing!
  16. we can all find faults with the corrado but you can with any car. in the last 6 months i`ve been able to drive mine less than six weeks, due to head gasket, steering rack, suspension, slave cylinder, calipers, oil cooler.... etc and my car had full VAG history when i bought it! still it covered over 140K now and theres not many cars that look or drive as well after that sort of milage. i`ve had to spend over £2k in that time but it just makes me more excited getting into when its back on the road. the corrado is a way of life and i`m gonna be proud to let my son (if i ever have one..) take it for a leisurly spin around the block in 20 odd years when its still gonna be as cool as ever!!! :D :D :D long live the `rado!!

    Bonnet

purely a guess.... but if you can find the bonnet release wire in that area under the dash in the drivers footwell, grap it with a pair of mole grips and give it a tug!!!  ouch!
  18. cheers kev they`re not on the car yet so i`ll have to wait an` see, dont mind firmness so i`ll prob do as you suggest. Oh, and the c-clip on the rears -- middle slot?? can they be adjusted on the car as i think i read somewhere that the rears can`t??
  19. i`ve just recieved delivery of my Koni top adjustables and H&R springs for my 1991 16v Corrado and was wondering what settings to put them at??? i`ve also ordered new front topmounts and rear bumpstops, is there anything else i should replace while i`m at it?? thanx
  20. i`m gonna order one of them an stick it on my mums 1.4 polo....ha ha!!!
  21. all air boxes are the same size on uk corrado`s! the 1.8 16v as stocked in demon tweeks is the us automatic version ( as far as i can work out from my purchasing experiences! ) finally got my k&n panel in and it does make a noise difference...but as far as power....i dunno!?? havnt drilled the air box yet but i`m happy so far! :)
  22. people have asked me what car i`m gonna get next...an` i say i`m not! reason: i got a `91 1.8 16v, 140,000 miles, few bumps an scrapes...etc what would i get for it? £2000???? what car would replace my corrado for that kinda money?? Nothing!! yes they might be quite demanding, cost lots of money and sometimes make you want a new car... but at the end of the day we own all fantastic cars that are worth as; PhatVR6 said, " worth more to me than anyone will give me for it, so I'm keeping it." so buy `em and look after them! ben
  23. you guys should come up to north wales... theres loads of corrado`s up here (good thing/bad thing???...i dunno!!) i know at least 7 (inc. me)people with a C!!! 4 x 16v 2 x G60 1 x VR6 and i see another 4 regulary.... 2 x storm (1 green, 1 blue) 2 x 16v and there`s another couple about that i see rarely! it`s dub mad up `ere!!
