Oh yeah definitely it'd be a shame to scrap it, he's owned it for years and used to own Jags before that (had a new one every year!) It just got to the point where he was too old to use it. I've got the know how, not so much the time though as I've got a project beetle, its a shame its not an air cooled Porsche haha. It would be a good tribute to restore it so maybe I'll suggest that to my Nan.

Thanks guys, yeah, I've got the same thread going on RR and VZi. I've had the most responses here, but I think this forum is generally better for getting replies anyway. One person on RR reckoned just scrap, someone else suggested £150 scrap value. I know the photos obviously don't show its best side lol but under the circumstances it has to be as the car currently is. I'm not sure what the plan is with it, I don't know whether it has been specified in the will, it would obviously get tidied up and running before we tried to sell her, or maybe it'll be a project between myself and my brothers (as I know previously it was suggested that I had it, but no doubt they'd argue and moan :haha:) I think £300 is a reasonable price, I mean after all it is still a Porsche at the end of the day, regardless of it being the less desirable 924.
-
Yeah, I've had a quick look, other than ones on auction the cheapest buy it now is £500 for a non runner, similar age but i think the body looks in better condition, although obviously my grandad's is really filthy so maybe £300/£400 or something?

So, my grandad sadly passed away last Friday and we've been going through the proceedings. One of the things is that we have to value all of his assets for the will etc. One of these includes a 1980/81 X reg Porsche 924 which unfortately has seen better days. He was driving it up until about 5/6 years ago which would have put him in his early 80's! It just got to a point where he couldn't really get into it anymore, so he bought himself a Puma (not really MUCH better but hey). Anyway its been sat on the drive, not being washed or anything, the tyres are flat as you can see and the interior is going a bit mouldy. I appreciate that I could have washed it and taken better shots but if I'm honest, that's not really on the top of my list of things to do... So I need a bit of help just to value the car as it is, not what it might be worth. Generally it is in good condition, there are a couple of dents in the wings and surprisingly hardly any rust. Obviously it hasn't been started in a long time but from what i remember everything worked. It has full electric windows and the metal sunroof, everything is genuine, the service history is unknown but i believe we have most of it (another thing we'll have to find). Please take into account that the car is dirty and would need a blow out to get rid of the cobwebs etc, I just need a rough estimate, based on the 924 being in a cleaner condition. Please see photos, any advice would be much appreciated. I'm not sure where we need this information for but the sooner the better for the will etc. Thanks for your help in advance.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking, they'd be doing a 1/3 of the car might as well do it all!. I've got the courtesy car for a 28day lease...I doubt they'd mind if it took longer!

The window goes up and down so thankfully that is OK. I received the engineers report last night and a letter from the solicitor. From what I can gather they're going to repair it. I had to phone the people dealing with it as the letter didn't make much sense and the guy on the other end said he thinks its repairable but he doesn't know why they haven't contacted me regarding getting it booked in...he's going to look into that for me. They cannot get hold of a new door so the cost of the repair is based on a second hand one, which albeit it a bit cheeky is better than writing the car off i suppose. They've valved it at £1800 based on Glass's guide retail of £2110 and Glass's guide trade £1885. The repairs are estimated at £1361.88 which involves: New Parts N/S outer door handle, N/S/F door moulding, N/S quarter moulding, Door foil Sound pad Repair Parts N/S rear quarter panel Rear bumper Wax Final check and QC Paint New and repaired areas to match and blending as required At the bottom in the comments areas he's put 'Door to door skin not available, probable problem with mouldings as well confirmed with VW dealer bodyshop. Cost of repair based on second hand door' I think if they were able to get a brand new door it would have been a write off based on a second hand door plus all the work coming in at around £1400, labour alone is most of that! So now I've got to wait for a call to tell me when they're going to book the car in for repair. I just hope the paint matches as its had a new bonnet in the past and it doesn't match anymore and it'd mean the bonnet, plus the n/s will look good and the rest of the car looking poor haha! Guess I should look at getting the bumper and drivers door sorted too! ---------- Post added at 9:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:10 AM ---------- The window goes up and down so thankfully that is OK. Yeah i know its not a big claim, but when you read the reasons that insurance companies write cars off its kinda saddening and annoying. I've had the engineer look at the car and that was on wednesday, I still haven't heard anything and he said he would let me know on thursday... Obviously i don't want to have to take things further but at the same time i dont want to lose my car or have to pay out for another, at a potential loss... Renson, what colour is the door? I have been offered another but I might need another door for the valver...
-
Haha, fair enough, well the engineer came around to survey my car, I'll find out tomorrow but I might well be paying you a visit :( I'll let you know of the outcome. He didn't sound very confident to be honest, he did mention that it might be a write off which just sucks...

for sale Green 2.0 16v for £1000 in Milton Keynes
eugopnosaj posted a topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
2.0 16v | Green | Milton Keynes Price: £1000 Description: Year: 1992 Mileage: 174,357 (block, head around 88k) Tax: N/A MOT: 12 Months Location: Milton Keynes Price: £1000 Contact details: 07845370986 So the time has come to sell my '92 valver which I have owned since 2009. As some of you will know I bought her as a non-runner where she was blowing across 2 cylinders with a suspect failed HG. She came with a second valver with a good low mileage engine (86k) and a supposedly good head. A few weeks later I swapped the head over, carried out some other works and got her back on the road after she'd been unloved for around 2 years by her former owner. In all the time she was on the road she never missed a beat until 2011, 2 weeks after a new mot, the replacement head went so off the road she came. Whilst getting the head skimmed and repaired (I have all the receipts to prove) I saw a VR6 for sale which I just couldn't pass up so a lot of money and a trip to Mansfield and I had myself my 2nd Corrado. Unfortunately this meant that the 16v never went back on the road after the head had been repaired. It has now been nearly 2 years and I have just bought myself a project beetle which is taking up all my time and all my funds. Regrettably I am forced to sell the valver as I cannot afford to run 3 cars let alone find space to store them all. She has a new mot (with no advisories) however she is uninsured and not taxed. All electrics work, including the spoiler which raises and lowers at the correct speeds, all windows open and close on the remote central locking (and with the key in the lock). The ABS is fully functional and the sunroof slides and tilts without and problems (again closes completely on the central locking). The paint is showing its age, she is 21 years old and has a few rust patches. The worst part is where someone keyed the car on the passengers door and the previous owner tried painting over it however the lacquer has now cracked and could do with touching up. Mechanically the car is sound. If she doesn't sell and I get the chance I might try and tidy up the door. I've been as honest as I can but its worth coming and checking out the car as its only the paintwork that lets her down The car comes with the 6 spoke wheels as shown on the pictures below not the BBS' on the photobucket album. The BBS's in the album are for sale separately or can come with the car for an additional £200 Unfortunately there was only the service book that came with the car so I have started my own, there are also some spares including a set of hydraulic tappets (she's a bit noisy, alternator, and whatever else I might find in the garage! She comes on standard suspension but is fitted with a Momo steering wheel, KR inlet and exhaust cams, a Supersprint stainless steel exhaust, uprated headlights, Kenwood front speakers and tweeters, Alpine 6 x 9's in the parcel shelf (already cut when I got her), I have retrofitted heated seat pads into the front seats and I was using old rocker switches from a mini but these can be swapped around. There is a Hawk 280 alarm and immobiliser with also a 2 stage Selca I'm 3.22 immobiliser on a push fob (fuel and electric cut off, comes with 2 keys; the master and the standard fob). There are 2 alarm fobs, I do have a brand new second key however I never got around to getting it cut. Please see pictures below or there are more on my [a href=http://s147.photobucket.com/user/eugopnosaj/slideshow/Valerie%20the%20Valver]photobucket[/a] account (including some when I first got her). I am looking for around £1000. The dodge in the pictures is not for sale . Viewings are welcome in Milton Keynes, the car can be heard and seen running and if you're insured we can go out for a spin. Photos to be added once I have edited them and made them smaller to upload -
Thanks, the car will get surveyed next week hopefully so i won't know the outcome till then (whether they can do the repair or ill need to buy a door). Out of curiosity what colour is the door?

Hey guys, if you don't already know i had some idiot lorry delivery driver crash into my n/s door causing some considerate damage to it and the rear wing (not so much but still would need repair) so while im awaiting details for the insurance (hoping its not a write off) i am searching for a new/second hand passengers door in good condition, also the later style handles with the lipping around the lock. Since i will be getting some spraying done i might also be in the market for a drivers door also. Colour is not an issue as spraying will need to be done, but it needs to be in a reasonably good condition. Let me know what you've got, i won't be buying right away but would be good to know what is out there. Thanks!

Yeah this os my worry, the driver admitted liability and we phoned Timbermet's head offices straight away, we have good contacts there and she is putting it through to their transport department. It was in our carpark and there were plently of witnesses. As you say, if it gets written off and I buy it back it'll be hell to sell it further down the line :( I will look into second hand doors and getting them resprayed, theres other parts that need spraying like the aforementioned rear quarter and both bumpers, although i could claim for the rear bumper as its the same side and the black mark and dent line on the door through to the wing can be followed down to the bumper (although it was already there when i bought the car) Thanks guys for your responses.

Its their fault 100%

So, at work with my car in the carpark, parked where it normally is and one of our workers comes upstairs and says to me 'er, Jason, Timbermet owe you a new door...' (I'm a designer for a joinery company and Timbermet are a suppier) I was like WTF, went downstairs and found this staring back at me! Needless to say I'm not happy, going to need a new door, sprayed to match car, rear quarter repaired and sprayed to match. What do you think, I know doors aren't cheap, even if I can get a hold of one. Obviously I'm going to claim on their insurance but i know insurance companies have written cars off for less...the door opens and locks but the handle is a bit stiff. Thoughts please :(

I wasn't holding him up, I was doing the limit and I know what I did was stupid, i regret it, but thankfully no-one got hurt and what he did (and did next) was just as stupid. To say i swerved out directly in front of him isn't true, i was still in my lane, he was sat up my arse and i flicked the steering to show him i was there, true it stopped him overtaking, but i could have been swerving for any number of reasons (things in the road, the same oil patch you just mentioned....) yes the reasons weren't that but if he wasn't so close it wouldn't have mattered.....don't you agree? He then proceeded to slam his anchors in front of me, whilst overtaking, in the wrong lane at the next roundabout, swerving in front of me as we came off (from the 2 lane roundabout to 1 lane)....he took what i did and made it much worse. So you're saying that if you'd been driving like an idiot, and i annoyed you in some variation and then we met you'd beat me up and smash up my car and think it an appropriate way to 'put me in my place' There are lots of variations that can make what either of us did seem worse.
-
Mong driving? I'm not even sure if I've seen you around...
-
Hmmm probably but unfortunately idiots and bullys like that you rarely see getting their commpunance...I'll just lay low for a few days and hope it blows over
-
I hope so! Especially as he's much bigger than I am!
-
Yeah I know. It just happened and believe me I'm not that type of person. Garage is not an option but I could put a car cover on during the night. The place I work is on a farm so thats not an issue. Although it wasn't that close to my house but that doesn't mean he won't remember when or if he sees my car again...I'll just keep it covered for a while and hope it goes away. Thanks, watch this space though....

Ok so I need a bit of advice, kinda just made an enemy....driving to the gym and some guy was sat right up my asre and decided to try and speed to overtake really close to me so I swerved a bit and stopped him over taking which got him angry obviously and he was beeping his horn and flashing his lights at me to pull over and followed me. I stopped because he kept pulling in front of me and he got out his car and started shouting and swearing at me and I yelled back 'theres a speed limit for a reason' which ****ed him off even more so he ran at my car at which point I sped off...oops...think if he sees my car it might end up with some broken windows or worse. I know I shouldn't have done it and im not that type of person, at all, I don't even know why I did it. I juat wasn't in the mood....I'm sure we've all been there. Juat a bit concerned now as to what will happen as he was a big skinhead and the VR isn't exactly a car to be missed....ideas please I really don't want my car beaten or me for that matter it was a stupid moment and I regret it 100%

Hey mate, I'll have one please! Just had to take my lights loom out and replace one of the wires as it started to melt! -
anybody fitted an amp in there car? and get bad feedback on start up?
eugopnosaj replied to bully's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
You need a ground loop isolator http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l2736&_nkw=ground+loop any of these will do! Make sure you get one with RCA plugs, i used to have one of the cheap £3.99 ones with the gold label and worked a treat, have since got a better amp. -
The inverter is required, its like a starter for fluorescent light bulbs

I've looked at EL panels before, I wasn't sure whether an A5 sheet would be big enough...Is that one that you've made previously, I take it A5 is a suitable size?
