I'd rather mine got called a Scirocco than it's current repertoire of "Corolla" "Delorian" or "The Shed" haha
-
Cheers both... on a side note, should it make any difference to insurance for my dad only, who's name the car is registered in?
-
I got one about 6 months ago, not sure if it's been discontinued since... got a spray can set as well.

Can't seem to find the relevant info online... I am going to Oz in November for potentially a year or more. My Dad has agreed to keep the 8v and run it regularly, however, I may decide to sell it while I'm over there. The car is currently registered in my name... will he be able to sell it on without my signature? :confused4:

Which actually brings me to my main gripe... Ghost drivers!!! Drivers who get into their car, shut the door and enter a world of their own where no other road users exist! The ones that do whatever they please, not to cause annoyance or danger, just because they're in a "world revolves around me" trance. You'll know them when you see them by the blank expression on their faces, no eye contact, no emotion, nothing, absolutely nothing! :mad2:

I hate that!! Any complete lack of lane awareness, island or not really fecks me off! Although it has to be said, if there's no-one on your right (only common sense to check), some islands benefit from being straight lined due to the position of the left hand road. Hard to explain but sometimes sticking in the left hand lane to go straight on means to cars coming out of the left hand road it looks like you're goin left rather than straight on. Few like that round by me.

Washed, clay barred, washed, polished, glazed and waxed my car and then spent 5 minutes thinking where the fuck did Saturday go???

I've used Marine Clean for a few months now, has got pretty much everything off anything so far... definitely works better diluted in hot water (just off the boil). Dilutes 5-1 as well so lasts quite a while. http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp? ... 0Gallon%29

When you phone a company you speak to a person, 90% of the time you're not getting that particular companies service but that particular persons. Such is life

8v Starts Then Cuts Out Instantly (Periodically / Random)
V33DUB replied to V33DUB's topic in Engine Bay
Cheers will try that... I don't need the car over the weekend as it's bank holiday and everyone knows they are for heavy partying! haha. Bonus cos it's my daily! If that doesn't cure it I'll try the relays.... infact as there cheap enough I might do them anyway but in that order so I can post the results for anyone else. Cheers all. -
8v Starts Then Cuts Out Instantly (Periodically / Random)

I take it all back, the coil pack hasn't fixed the problem... it's back! Will try cleaning the immobilser contact and see what happens then. -
I don't know how etka lists them but when I phoned up for mine the parts guy ordered this non-uk one so either he was having a bad day or it's not very clear on the system.
-
I had this problem too. Searched on here and found out there are 3 different ones. GB RHD, Scandinavian Daytime Running Lights one and a LHD version. That one looks the same as the one I got which is the LHD jobby. Took it back and swapped it. think the part numbers are on here somewhere... worth giving them the p/n as it saves them searching and getting the wrong one. Had to wait 2 weeks for the first switch, took it back and the other was in stock from a uk depo the next day :bad-words:

8v Starts Then Cuts Out Instantly (Periodically / Random)

Sorry! Yeah, wires were fine. Changed the ignition coil which seems to have solved the problem. :salute: -
I'm a graphic designer... or as most of my mates tell me "a colour-in-erer" :censored:

The insurance on my 8v is due for renewal next month so I thought I'd have a blast on the comparison sites to see what's what. 27 Years old, 1 years no claims (jinxed that now aint I! haha), 8k miles a year, fully comp. The cheapest I got was £848 which is about £100 cheaper than last year but I was hoping for more so just out of interest I thought I'd try the same details, but change my 8v with a value of £1300 to a £5k H Reg Sierra Cosworth. What I didn't expect was the quotes of around £700. Not just one but about 5 or 6 came in at around that figure. I tried some other cars randomly all with about 150-350bhp and other than a Subaru Impreza, all came out either cheaper or not much more expensive than my 8v Corrado. WTF? Conspiracy!! haha How do the insurance companies come to the conclusion that me in a £1.5k 8v Corrado poses more risk than me in a £5k Sierra Cosworth? :bad-words:

If I had the money I'd be stright down to see it!

Just browsin and saw this... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1912608.htm Seems reasonable money considering the charger rebuild and interior, might be of interest to someone on here?
-
Due to the engine weight on a VR I'd assume the handling would be different so not a straight comparison, but I have nothing but praise for the KW spring/shock kit I recently fitted to my 8v. Not crashy, firm but comfortable, doesn't bounce round corners and lowers the car pretty nicely. Maybe not low enough for the hardcore but it's my daily and I don't wanna lose the comfort of the car. I only have a well worn standard "4X4" set up to compare it to but I'm really happy with it!
-
Nope doesn't do it when stationary and I've tried going really slowly and changing from first to second... does it when I change carefully and clunks if I change quick so I don't think the speed of the car is anything to do with it but rather the speed of the change.
-
Hi! Clutch has started to make a metalic 'clunk' noise when lifted off. Used to happen between first and second when changing vigorously but has turned into every change and only doesn't do it when changed really really carefully / slowly. I've read through the forums but there are so many things to do with clutches I'm a little lost!! I'm thinking either new clutch or gearbox mounts?
