I went to the dealer in about August and was told they were obsolete. I checked again yesterday and was told they could still be bought. No mention of low stock this time.

Spark plug lead removal tool - and - plug remover
Portent replied to Portent's topic in Suppliers Forum
Thanks guys. -
That's a total git. What is it with all the crashed and damaged corrados this week? At least it's the front wing rather than the back so should be repairable with a new wing, bumper and slam panel. And you can use it as an excuse to get the whole front painted. It's infuriating when people just drive off.

Nooooo. Glad you're ok but real shame about the car :(
-
Just seen the OP is around the corner from me too (SW20 - I live just inside the M25 at KT10). Something I've noticed is that the type of Corrado owner is starting to change from people looking for a fast cheap car to those looking to recapture their youth and memories and owning as a second car (it's the reason I bought one). That's a real sign to me that the car is becoming a true classic.

Welcome. That will be very satisfying when you've got it up and running properly. I guess it would probably have been cheaper in the long run to buy one in better running order but yo'll have the satisfaction of restorig something. I'll keep an eye on this thread :)

Wouldn't one of the symptoms of the matrix also be coolant loss and condensation in the car? Agree thought that the heaters in Corrado's are usually fantastic. It heats up and gets much hotter than my Golf (mind you so did my old mk2 Scirocco).

Mk4 Golf - Standard leather sports seats - vs- leather recaros?
Portent replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
Yes I saw that. Looks lovely. Exactly the same colour as mine to (Indigo) although different colour imterior. Mk4's are great daily cars and a nice contrast to the Corrado. They are simple to live with and even though they aren't as sharp in handling and 'feel' as the Corrado, they are so comfy and still fairly quick. Thanks. Just when I'd decided to save the money you remind me how nice they are. I'll have a think on it overnight :) -
I'm looking for suggestions on where to get a plug lead removal tool (apart from ebay). Also is the best spark plug remover the Halfords magnetic one (and which size)? Thanks.

Exhaust looks lovely :)

Mk4 Golf - Standard leather sports seats - vs- leather recaros?
Portent replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks so far, I must admit I do like the look of those cream mk4 recaro's. I'm not too bothered about electric seats (ie the A3's). I have those in my Corrado and once set I never move them. I'm probably leaning towards not bothering with the upgrade. That would be another £400 I could put towards the Corrado (the strange thing is I always find it hard to justify spend on the Golf except for maintenance but I usually find a way of justifying spend on non-essentials for the Corrado). -
Great story. If it's the car I'm thinking of then I used to lust after it on this video when I was looking for a car myself:

I currently have a mk4 Golf 4Motion with heated black leather 'sports' seats. These are similar to the leather recaro's in mk4 Golfs and to be honest they are very comfy. It's my daily driver and I've owned it since it was 6 months old. It is in superb condition with about 57k on the clock and as I've already suffered the depretiation over the years I can't see any point in selling it in the near future. The seats are in superb condition with only one very small mark on them. The heated elements are very toasty. I have a chance of getting some heated black leather recaros. I suspect they won't be in quite as good condition as my current seats so may need some refurbing. My question; does anyone have any experience of both seats? Are the recaro's worth it over the standard leather sports seats? As with the Corrado the standard sports seats are very similar to the recaros and I'm not sure if the extra expense is worth it (about £450 plus any cost to refurb if they need it). Opinions?

Great stuff. It looks like there is enough interest to buy a square (the cheapest square is actually £95 but I'll bung in the extra fiver if necessary). I've just dropped an email to Brooklands to check we can get a "team name" on there instead of mine. Once they have done that then I'll start a proper group buy thread. For now I'm assuming it's a Corrado Forum group buy so that name would appear on the square but I'll drop one of the CCGB people an email to see if they want to be involved and do a combined name. Also, out of courtesy I think I should check with whoever actually owns The-Corrado.net as I don't want to step on any toes if I'm using the forum name. Any idea who should I check this with? Please keep the replies coming as it gives me an idea of who is interested and I can ping them with a PM to confirm interest once I start the proper group buy thread. If we get enough interest then we can either buy a more expensive yard (the ones higher up the bank cost £150) or buy more than one yard. It depends on how many people are interested.

National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands

Also thought I'd mention that Mercedes Benz World is right next door so definitely a lot to do even if it's a long drive: http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/mercedes-benzworld.flash.html?csref=mbworld_url_021211 -
National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands
Portent replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
This just sparked an idea in my head for a group buy of a piece of Brooklands track. I've started a thread in the group buy feelers section to gauge whether there is any interest: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?59949-A-piece-of-Brooklands-iconic-track&p=761722#post761722 -
Following on from the thread in the Events forum about the CCGB National Day 2012 being held at Brooklands, I thought I'd gauge interest in a group buy of a piece of the world famous Brooklands track: http://www.bankingonbrooklands.org.uk/track.html To raise funds and continue with maintaining the track and museum Brooklands offer the chance to sponsor a square yard of track on the remaining bank. Prices depend on the location of the sponsored yard but are £90, £125 or £150. In return the sponsor gets their name on the Brooklands website as the 'owner' of that piece of track. As far as I'm aware there are no other perks of doing this so please don't expect free entry or such like. In the current economic climate I suspect it is too much money for most people to simply buy a sqaure on their own. But I wondered whether there would be any interest in a group buy; e.g. a number of us get together and put in £10 each. We then buy a square under the name of either the Corrado Forum, CCGB or both (opinions welcome on this part - I assume most people would want it in the name of the Corrado Forum unless CCGB donated towards it?). Why Do This? 1) It supports some British motor sport heritage. 2) It promotes the Corrado name. 3) Some of us may have considered it in the past but not been willing to spend £90 to £150. So what do people think? Is there any interest?

National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands

I'll be there. It's a great place and they even have a concorde there that you can walk around for a fee. I've walked up the bank recently and its surprisingly steep. Its close to me which is even better. I've just signed up on the ccgb link. Do I need to sign up anywhere else or do you just pay on the door?c -
Blooming heck that's cheap. If I was in the market right now then I'd be bidding on that.
-
Are the Storm ones more expensive?

I used my Jedi skills and found some: http://the-corrado.net/archive/index.php/t-56714.html? http://the-corrado.net/archive/index.php/t-56796.html?
