Must be the one of the lowest mileage corrado's???
Portent replied to axcel01uk's topic in General Car Chat
Good luck to him if he can turn a profit. Personally I can't see the point in buying a 17 to 20 year old car from a dealer. In fact I'd say it's better to avoid a dealer at this age; It's not going to add much in the way of warranty and to make a profit any dealer would obviously have to buy very cheaply, do very little to it and sell it on at a much higher price after a quick polish. The cars would usually be at the lower end of the market for a reason. And I'd guess that the history you get with the car would be less than talking to the actuial owner and getting handed a nice big folder of receipts for previous work. Sometimes though, there will be a gem in there so deaklrs shouldn't be discounted entirely. Also, what is 'worse', someone breaking a car for a profit, or a dealer keeping the car in circulation? I don't have a problem with either of them but many people on here do break cars. -
Just got your license? What a lovely car to own as a first one :)

As above, the 12v VR6 really has a nice induction sound. When I was looking for mine the one car I test drove with a BMC (and a standard exhaust) sounded absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure I'd want it to sound like a Scooby though. Nothing wrong with a Scooby but each car is different and I think it's better to try to enhance the natural sound of the VR6.

Oooh, blackberry with cream leather, nice combination :)

When you click on the insert picture icon you can either choose to upload from your computer or from a URL. When you select URL you are offered two further options; either 'retrieve remove file and reference locally' or link directly to a hosted image such as Photobucket (it's a tick box). If you keep the tickbox enabled then it will copy the pic and show as a thumbnail on here. But if you untick it then it will link directly to the picture at the URL you specify.

vw-classicparts.de - How to order parts?
Portent replied to joebloggsVR69's topic in Suppliers Forum
I've not used them yet but VW Heritage seem to resuypply some of their parts: http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_act_vwclassicparts.home_lang_EN_country_GB.htm -
Thanks. I think it lifts the cabin having the two tone seats. I see you've trimmed the handbrake tunnel too which is a nice touch. The 'baseball' stitching in the mk1 TT is slightly different. It's more subtle because it has a single thread rather than two threads interveaved.

Ok you've got me on the stitching, I agree it's not great. JMC - any pics?

What was number one when your Corrado was new?
Portent replied to Purple Tom's topic in General Car Chat
Oh ffs it's worse than I expected: Come On You Reds - Manchester United Football Squad :( -
I came across these while browsing. I must admit I really like the idea of retrimming in part leather and part alcantara. I won't do it to a perfectly lovely set of black cloth recaros but I think this would make a lovely interior:

I'll check the date of mine in the morning. But it's 1994 so knowing my recent run of luck it will definitely be Wet Wet Wet :( -
Volkswagen Corrado Storm Register - NOW ON FACEBOOK
Portent replied to Dazza Storm's topic in General Car Chat
Google+ for the win :D I reckon I must be the only person left on earth who doesn't use Facebook/MySpace/G+. -
It would be worth keeping an eye on German ebay too.

I have one small rust patch on the rear that I want to get sorted before it becomes an issue, and while I'm at it I might get the front end stonechips sorted. Does anyone have any recommendations for bodyshops in the Surrey area?
-
I'm not normally a fan of red cars but that looks fantastic.

Spotted a light blue J reg in Kingston-upon-Thames this evening. Definitely an aftermarket shade. I was in the Golf so didn't wave or flash.
-
Yes I own a Corrado VR6 and a long time ago I owned the mk3 Golf VR6. It was a long time ago though so I haven't driven them back to back. From memory the Golf seemed quicker off the line due to lower gearing (even though the Corrado is better on paper). Where the Corrado comes into it's own is mid range and top end.

This is what I'll be doing, but clearly marking it as a self service in the book. I'll also be keeping the invoices for the service parts in a service folder so they can be cross referenced easily. In truth I'll actually be doing more service parts on the car because of the saving over a VAG service (e.g. fuel filter, gearbox oil, etc that I wouldn't be doing if the garage had to do it) .
-
That's crap. Everyone seems to be having bad news lately :( I think I'll get an extinguisher for the boot.
-
I wasn't being serious :) I was simply referring to them obsoleteing everything :D
-
VW will probably tell you the oil is obsolete :(
-
I know what you mean. I was out in mine this morning. It was early, the warm sun was starting to rise, the roof was open, the throaty sound of the VR coming into the cabin, I had some tunes on... and a wide idiotic grin on my face :)

Is the headlights switch ok? Pop it off and check the wires behind. Also check if someone has fitted a fuse on the earth into the switch (common mod) and see if it needs replacing.
