  1. Driving back from Norfolk to Surrey today. Saw a dark Corrado with Storm wheels (probably a storm?) parked in a layby on the A10 just outside Downham Market at around 2:45pm. I didn't have time to check the exact colour or if it was a Storm. But it was parked behind a white van and appeared to be with a Golf parked in front of that. I'm trying to make a decision on a couple of Corrado's I've seen lately and maybe that was an omen :)
  2. Thanks guys. How do I get the discount? Told you I was going to ask silly questions :)
  3. This might be a silly question but here goes... when looking for quotes on a possible VR6 I may buy I keep getting asked if I'm a member of an owners club. The insurance is cheaper if I am. Which Corrado owners clubs are there? Like I said, silly question but I'm new to this :)
  4. Lovely car. I enquired about that one but then things went quiet when it was found to be a cat c, not cat d. That's a great price too. I absolutely love the colour. You've done well there.
  5. If a Corrado has evidence of being well maintained then should high mileage be a concern? I'm talking about 160k+ here (obviously that's average for the age, but you know what I mean :))
  6. That's a lovely example. I see you've got a mk2 Golf there too... looking very similar with the colour and rear lights :) EDIT: Oops that's the previous owners mk2 I suspect.
  7. Nice car. Shocking price (or is it worth it for such low mileage?): http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1561263.htm
  8. Slightly off topic on my own thread, but I'd take heated seats and a sunroof over aircon :) I have a Golf V6 4Mo with heated leather, air con, etc, etc. I use the aircon a few days a year. But I remember my days in my old mk3 VR6 and I loved having the seats on and sunroof open on a cold winters night :D
  9. Thanks. I read on one advert recently of a standard VR6 being Mystic Blue as it was an option. Is this correct? Or was it never an option?
  10. Just a quickie... do Storms still command a slight premium in price over an equivalent spec and condition VR? If so then any idea what that premium is? And is there any difference in desirability between the blue and green Storms? Also, if I find one then how do I confirm it is a genuine Storm?
  11. Well I've never yet owned a Corrado but this weekend I decided I'd start looking for one. Back in 1996 (?) I almost bought a brand new Storm from my local VW dealers. I still remember test driving it and I absolutely loved it. Sadly my wife didn't like it and in the end I got a Golf VR6 Highline instead. That was a great car too and several years later I've been through various VW's and Audi's and currently have a Golf mk4 V6 4Motion. But I've never had the same feeling of excitement as I had when I test drove that Storm. Money is quite tight with two children and a huge mortgage. My wife still hates Corrados. But I told her today that I'm going to start looking for a Corrado. It's just something I need to do at some point in my life. She's less than impressed :) But 14ish years after test driving one I've decided I'm going to get one. I doubt it will be a Storm but it's highly likely to be a VR. One quick question... why does my Golf V6 seem so tame, with a relatively poor exhaust note compared to the old 12v VR6 I had in my mk3 Golf?
  12. Thanks for the tuning guide, I will take a look. Don't recall the car having a rusty door. It could have as it wasn't the greatest of conditions. But it was an 'interesting' colour... pink or very faded red! I'm in Claygate, just off the A3 (KT10 postcode).
  13. Thanks for that. Well if I did get a 16v and my Golf ever got written off then at least I'd have a doner engine :D Is the 16v very tunable? e.g. get a standard cheapish 16v and then when funds allow start modifying it?
  14. First off I'm new here so hello  A couple of weeks ago I drove past a Corrado on the M25. It wasn't in great condition but it made me remember how lovely these cars are and how much I wanted one when younger. I almost bought a green Storm when they were new. My local garage had a beautiful one advertised and I'd taken it for a test drive. Sadly my girlfriend (now wife) persuaded me to buy a golf instead :censored: My circumstances are changed now and with a massive mortgage and two lovely kids I simply can't afford a new car of that value. But luckily I do have a mk4 Golf V6 4mo. It's a fantastic family car with full heated leather, etc, etc. But in comparison to the Corrado it just feels souless. So I'm thinking about a cheap fun weekend Corrado. Now, the issue I have is that funds are very limited. Leather is unlikely to be an option and while I'd love a G60 or possibly a VR6, realistically a decent condition model with one of those engines will be hard to find at a price I can afford. So I'm considering a 16v. But in all honesty will I be disappointed with performance? I've previously had a mk2 16v Golf and thought it quick at the time. But now having had a series of VR6 and V6 Golfs will I find it a little sluggish? Oh, and if anyone near Surrey fancies driving past and showing their car off to me the feel free to show it off :D
