  1. I'm not sure which company it's with (I left my notes at work) although I hadn't heard of them before. But I got it through Herts who advertise here.
  2. That looks stunning. I'd also appreciate the breakdown of costs.
  3. Now I've managed to get a lower quote, everyone else is trying to beat it. I'm currently being quoted £362 with only a £70 excess, track day cover included (not that I intend to use it but it's handy) and is apparently with a company that's mod friendly. It must have a Thatcham approved alarm though. I'll keep going :D
  4. Nice. I have one very similar as my main car. Same colour, heated black leather, aircon, winter pack (headlight washers - looks like yours has them too), sports pack (allegedly lower suspension from factory and different wheels). Great cars. It's getting older now but I can't see a reason to change it.
  5. The problem with that is that it's a limited mileage policy that I need, and although I can't carry across my NCD, some of the specialist insurers will take the NCD from my other car into account. I'll give confused a go though. but I wouldn't expect it to give great results in this case.
  6. Thanks. I'm already with them for my main car and had forgotten about them. Their quote was fairly decent... £419 so I'll start seeing if anyone can beat that.
  7. When I first started looking for a VR6 in Feb I was getting quotes around the £320 point for fully comp, limited mileage, second car, old git driver, safe area. I've just had some quotes for a very slightly modified Storm (different wheels, nothing else) and it's coming in around £540. That's getting a bit expensive for a second car that I will only be driving occasionally. The girl at Adrian Flux said that premiums have gone up a lot in the last month? Can anyone recommend a cheap (but decent) specialist insurer? I'm getting similar quotes from the insurers sponsoring this board too.
  8. Just after a quick sanity check on price. Is this an ok price range for a good condition car with nearly 170k miles? Assuming well maintained but chains not done? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1567892.htm
  9. The price is there buddy on the about us section  Sorry for calling it a bit pants :) I was having a 'moment' :D So I just fill in the form on the register page and then do I send a cheque or do you contact me with a reference number and then I send a cheque? It's nor immediately obvious. Mind you, this is probably just to prepare you for the ongoing frustrations of Corrado ownership :D
  10. pm'd you. What colour is the interior and what condition is it? Some more pics would be useful. Can you elaborate on what you mean by overhauling the engine, brakes, etc?... what work on the chains, clutch, gearbox, etc?
  11. Ok, how do I join? I've looked at the official site and the sign-up looks a bit pants and doesn't include a price.
  12. Nice :) You need to put this in the chuftie thread.
  13. Glad you got to see it with someone who definitely sounds like they know about them. Personally I'd have taken it for a drive just so you know how it felt and can compare it to the next one. Good luck with the search.
  14. Funnily enough the gold is growing on me a little :) But the silver or black look better. Overall I'd go for the silver. I love the wheels but if you're not happy with them then do what you need to :)
  15. Love that Corrado and the wheels... except I don't like them gold. Great wheels but highly polished silver is the way to go imho.
  16. Nice. But I don't like the wheel colour either.
  17. Yes, I'm not disputing it's just as great a car. The handling will be far superior. But getting back into my 4Mo it just felt smooth, quiet and quick. But they are entirely different cars. The Corrado is a sports coupe. The 4Mo, at least my one, is a fast hatch that eats motorway miles and takes a family comfortably. It's the 4 door version, leather, aircon, cruise, etc, etc. It's just so smooth and pleasant to drive. But it lacks character and fun, which the Corrado has in spades.
  18. My wife hates them. She's the reason I didn't buy the brand new Storm I test drove in 95. I've driven a few recently. Don't expect to be blown away compared to a modern car. I got back in my mk4 Golf 4Motion and realised how much cars had evolved since 95. My 4Mo feels quicker too. But they have real character and it feels a very 'personal' car.
  19. Nice. I don't usually like dark wheels but they suit the car very well.
  20. What is it about the Corrado that you love? A lot of cars have a fan base but what is it that attracts you to the Corrado? For me it's the looks, relatively small size, the sound (in VR6) and just as importantly the fact they are now getting rare. I could get a lot of other cars for similar money but I'm looking for a Corrado because they are unusual.
  21. Early Monday would be ok. I've replied to your pm. But if there is anyone out there who actually knows about cars and can go instead, they would definitely be more useful than me :)
  22. Not sure about Monday. Will have to check. I'll get back to you on that one.
  23. I'm no mechanic and probably know even less about cars than you. I'm looking for a VR6 myself and have seen a couple so would be able to compare it to them. Like I said I have absolutely no mechanical expertise but if no-one else can help and you want someone to come along for moral support then I may be able to join you if it's early tomorrow morning. It will also depend on where in London as I have a family so the wife won't be impressed if I'm gone for too long on Easter Sunday :) I promise I won't try to buy the car from under you. I'm in Surrey (near Esher) close to the A3 so I guess it's probably on your way.
