  1. This is a lovely car. Obviously if the offer is too good to refuse then it's worth considering. But I certainly wouldn't sell it to get an R32. The R32 is a better car but the mk5 is quite new still and so will depreciate. Whatever people say about Corrados still falling in value, they can't fall much more and I think you'd be moving your money into a depreciating asset.
  2. I got some decent quotes from HIS which advertise here. I think the key is to look around for specialist insurers who will put it on a limited mileage or classic policy. Are you picking the car up today or tomorrow? If you're passing Esher then pop in :D I've put my car purchase on hold for a bit but seeing this one again may persuade me!
  3. That's gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.
  4. The new Polo is a cracking car :D But make sure she gets the new GTi. 1.4 Supercharged/Turbocharged with the DSG gearbox, 180bhp and 45mpg  A mate has this engine in a mk5 Golf and it's a great engine. I wouldn't want to own one when they're getting older (10yrs+) though. Lots of truoble stored up there I think.
  5. I assume you got some quotes before buying the car?
  6. Thanks guys, all yery useful comments.
  7. Those seats are gorgeous :) But I think you've put the bike rack on the wrong side of the car
  8. Very nice. Not a fan of bonnet slots though. But the rest is lovely.
  9. The one I'm considering is 170k and hasn't had any of the engine work mentioned above done. But generally feels a good car, same owner for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrs, etc. I'd have bought it by now if it weren't for a left-field issue making me reconsider a second car.
  10. Good point so it's only relative. But a lower mileage car will usually sell easier than one that's got around 170k or 180k on the clock.
  11. Today I found myself at my local dealer getting a replacement alloy center cap for my 4Mo, so I took a quick look at the mk6 Golfs in there. I was absolutely astounded to find a GTD on the forecourt for £30k. Yes it had leather and all the toys but it's only a Golf for crying out loud. I also found the feel of the plastic was inferior to mine and the swicthes felt cheap and flimsy. One of them, in the roof lining, flexed a large amount when I pressed it. Yes they looked nice but really nothing above average in the quality department. I can't see me replacing my 4Mo with a mk6 anytime soon. Very disappointing.
  12. Such as? I must admit I'm concerned about resale value. But I'm getting the impression my possible purchase might be a good long term car.
  13. Dark (blue or black?) G60 parked in one of the car parks in Richmond Park near Pembroke Lodge this afternoon.
  14. Looking at the front (admittedly debadged) and the rear, the designers just got it so right. It's so aggressive.
  15. It's threads like this that make me want to sell my 4Mo and buy a rough car just to restore it. Sadly that's not possible and I'll be on a tight budget if/when I do buy.
  16. Not bought a car yet but doing some investigations into possible scenarios. If I bought a higher mileage car and wanted to plan for an engine rebuild or replacement in a year or two, what are my options and rough costs? e.g. Could I take it to a specialist and get the whole engine 'rebuilt' (I'm a n00b so forgive any obvious lack of lknowledge). Also, how much is a 24v conversion roughly? My thinking with this option is to buy something high mileage and run it 'as is' for a few years, saving for a full on conversion. But costs would very much be a factor.
  17. Ouch, how much is that costing!?
  18. Not a fan of the wheels to be honest. But I really like the colour. WHich is odd because in any other car I hate yellow. But it suits the Corrado :)
  19. PM'd you about the V5. Probably all fine but wanted to make sure the info I was told tally's with the info you were told. If it does then great. very nice car :)
  20. Nice. Glad it went to a good home. I looked at that one a while ago and nearly bought it. But the big history gap and issue around the v5 put me off. The car itself seemed very nice though and the interior was in great condition.
  21. It's funny looking at other peoples cars. I look at yours and think "oh, that's nice!" and forget I have one sitting in the garage which is equally as nice. It's like when you're cooking for yourself you enjoy it less than when someone is cooking for you :) But it's nice to see the cream leather. I've always been a fan of black interiors but recently I've been moving over to the light side :) I need to get rid of the damn wood effect in mine though.
  22. Pink... people run a mile very quickly.
  23. Excellent. It looks lovely. I do like that colour and I'm glad you found your car in the end :)
