  1. It's low for the year, certainly. I've seen VR6's have timing chains done at 120k and also seen cars at 180k without them doen, but no sign of needing them. It really depends on how the car has been treated and services. But being low mileage the chances are it won't need them for some time unless it has been driven hard. From the pictures the car looks well cared for but that's just an assumption.
  2. I've looked at that same advert a few times and if it were closer to me I'd probably have taken a peek at it (just a touch out of my budget though). But I'd say that looks a really good car on the face of it. Definitely worth a viewing if it's local to you. From the receipt it sounds like the chains may have been done. But at only 130k I'm not sure how much of a bargaining point the chains would be if they hadn't.
  3. I'm on the lookout for a car so I can give a buyers opinion... hard to reverse mods would put me off. Keep it standard.
  4. It will also depend on whether the wiring loom is included. There's a grey leather interior (seats, doorcard and wiring loom) for sale in the parts forum. It's been there for a while and hasn't sold yet. It's just been reduced to £695. So I'd say £600 is fair if that one hasn't sold yet.
  5. Ah yes, the carbon fibre spoiler makes sense. Well can't blame someone for trying to make a profit if they were lucky enough to pick it up at a good price.
  6. I've been keeping an eye on this car, but not considered it too much as it's a touch above my budget and I wasn't sure I liked the colour: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1767253.htm For the spec it seems reasonable money; low mileage, leather, and even air con. But the mention of a carbon fibre boot panel and the lack of any rear badges raised a question in my mind (ie has it had a bump - which is ok as long as it has been fixed properly). Then I noticed it has been on sale recently for a much lower price, with rear badges and no mention of air con (surely air con is something you'd shout from the roof about): http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1675775.htm So what's going on there? Why did it originally sell for such a low price (obscenely low for a VR which looks good condition and with leather) and why has it suddenly popped up again for a much higher price, lost it's rear badge (gaining a carbon fibre panel) and now has air con. Does this seem dodgy or am I just reading too much into it? And is it fairly common to replace the boot panel with carbon fibre to prevent rust?
  7. Might be worth checking the fuse hasn't blown again if there is no difference. Maybe there us something causing it to blow.
  8. Could you put some netting on the gutters or wherever they perch?
  9. This may be a silly question but why does the VR6 sound so good? It may seem obvious that the V6 is the reason and of course that is a major part of it. I don't have a Corrado VR6 yet but I have owned a Golf mk3 VR6 and a mk4 V6 4Mo 24v. The 12v in the VR6 sounded much more aggressive than the refined note of the 24v. So I suppose this is a question for the 24v Corrado owners... does the car sound as good?
  10. Exactly what I am doing. Had a low mileage 4mo for years and rather than change it, am getting a weekend VR too.
  11. Hold on, this poll could be flawed. There's nothing to stop the same car being registered in the poll by different owners. So the most popular colour could simply be the colour that people buy, end up unhappy with and the sell on again  So the rarest colours must be best because people keep them :notworthy:
  12. Loving that video... "...and this is the Espresso. It's like the Corrado. One shot of it and it blows your head off" :D
  13. Arse. That's a PITA. At least it's fairly minor but it pisses me off when other people do that.
  14. I saw two today in Norfolk. The first was a mystic blue storm in Burnham Market at 4:40pm (reg *** JAP). Then about 30 mins later on the A10 a dark one came past me in the opposite direction going north. It had a bonnet bra and sounded like a VR.
  15. If you decide to stick with the AAA still cause a fuss and try to get a bit of money back.
  16. Would you mind taking a peek into it. It has been around a month now and it hasn't activated yet. Same name as here. Thanks :)
  17. Sorry I'm just not getting it. It was a 16v last year. Now it's a G60... but without a supercharger... and has a turbo instead??? Is it: 1) A 16v but with a turbo bolted on? 2) A 16v that has had a G60 engine replacement... then the supercharger swapped for a turbo? Sorry I'm a bit slow :)
  18. Do you mean a G60 supercharger? Or a G60 supercharger AND a turbo?
  19. Total bargain, especially as it has leather recaro's.
  20. Depends on your budget. But if you can afford it then lower it :)
  21. Yup, I realise that. But the 4Mo 'feels' quicker to me because it has more low down torque. Unless you drive it hard then the 4Mo pulls very strongly with little effort. It might also be because I'm comparing a low mileage great condition engine with around 47k, to cars that have done 150k+. So the older Corrado engines might be a little more 'tired'?
  22. I don't suppose you have AA Relay or similar?
  23. I can sympathise with Butler. I've now driven a few VR's (including the one he bought) and they all seem quite slow to me. My other car is a Golf mk4 V6 4Mo (so a similar engine but more modern and 24v). But I've put it down to the fact that my Golf has huge low-down torque and also that I don't tend to drive hard on a test drive. Maybe I should but I'd feel guilty really pushing it hard. As mentioned above, modern engine design is different, with 90's engines generally needing to be revved hard to get the power. I recall when buying a mk2 Golf I had to think long and hard between the 8v and 16v which had different characteristics and the 16v really needing high revs (I got the 16v and loved it). I don't want a Corrado just for out and out speed. It would be nice but I really don't drive anywhere fast now. It's more about loving the car itself and taking me back to a time in my 20's when I really wanted one and life was so much more fun and free. Maybe the ideal Corrado then would be a 1.8t 20v which would have modern characteristics (one recently didn't sell in the forum and is sadly being broken - I quite fancied trying it but as it was in Scotland it was too far for me to go just in case I liked it). I'd love to try a G60 if anyone is in the Surrey area :)
