Motorsport at the Palace 26th and 27th May 2013
Portent replied to Rocket Ron's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
I'm signed up for the ccgb stand on the sunday :) -
It's a bit of a crossover year. But the later bonnet, wings and bumper came in to accommodate the vr6 so it should have late lenses.
-
I miss my mk4 4motion in this weather. It's the first time in about 10 years that I havent had a car with quattro/haldex. Back to learning the basics for me.
-
It's the hatch hinge caps that are impossible to find now.

Maybe I'm late to the party but I never realised that Classic Parts sold so much for the Corrado now. Or is it only recent? Some examples: Inner door sills: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Karosserie/Innenausstattung/Einstiegsleiste.html Heated seat mats: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Karosserie/Innenausstattung/Sitz-Heizelement.html (are there meant to be two per seat and is this the base or back?) Mirror glass: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Karosserie/Aussen/Spiegelglas.html (I can only find one side - or is it universal? I'll check tomorrow) Brushed silver badges: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Karosserie/Aussen/Schriftzug-16V.html (The VR6 badge looks plain chrome rather than burushed unfortunately) Recaro seat foam and covers in both cloth and leather: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/details/search/1973/recaro http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/details/search/1975/recaro http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/details/search/1974/recaro http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/details/search/1976/recaro http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Karosserie/Innenausstattung/Kopfstuet-2.html Late heater controls: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Heizung-und-Lueftung-Klima/Regulierung.html Exhaust back box: http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Abgas-und-Kraftstoffanlage/Daempf-2.html (Not sure which model this is for - I'd love a new original exhaust on my VR) I've only listed some of the stuff I came across but there is loads on there which genuinely surprised me for the above items. The Recaro foam and covers certainly seem interesting but probably not cheaper than a retrim I guess.

I'd be interested, depending on price. I bought two sets a couple of years ago but can't find them. Oops.
-
Bleed the radiators. If that doesn't work then take them off the wall, put them in the garden and flush them out with a hose. Then put them back on the walls and buy a leather interior for the VR.

I chased a Merc C350 down a motorway slip road last week. I'm not sure whether he was going for it but after he launched rapidly from the lights I thought I'd follow. To my surprise I was keeping up with him. It only lasted a few seconds as I backed off when speeds got silly but it made me grin from ear to ear. Not bad for an 18+ year old car and I bet mine cost a fraction of the price of the Merc :) :) And he didn't have a spoiler doing an erection

Suggest asking sone of the people in the cars breaking section. One of them is bound to have a spare.
-
I've never yet found a Haynes manual to be of any use. I always seem to have the oddball version of the car which isn't quite covered by it. I can't fault the Bentley manual for the Corrado though.
-
I know what you mean. I've been out for occasional drives in mine but with poor weather recently and so much else going on right now, I rarely do get out in it. Having been mostly driving a 4 pot turbo recently (which admittedly goes like stink) I couldn't believe how good the VR sounded last weekend. I'm desperate for some really good weather and a decent drive for some meets :)
-
If that's what they are selling for nowadays I can't see the point of ever selling mine (not that I want to of course).

Headlight loom is night and day (literally!)
-
Buy a VR and keep the valver. Simples :)

Welcome. I'm sure an admin can recover your old account if you want it :)
-
Nice. I quite fancy that one if I didn't already have mine.

Corrado VR6 standard Black Leather Steering Wheel - NOW SOLD
Portent replied to VRSICK's topic in Parts for Sale
Bargain :) -
This was on my daily HUKD email.
-
I doubt you would see.much spare cash after selling and then buying a daily and another vr6. Either sell it and dont replace, or if possible dont sell it at all.
-
A good way to check if its the aux belt is to run the engine and give a short spray of wd40 onto the belt itself. If it quietens down for a few minutes then its the belt. Otherwise it could be the tensioner bearing or waterpump. The belt is dead easy to do. I'm not mechanically minded and I managed it using Jims CCGB instructions :salute: The waterpump looks more effort but the tensioner looks easy. If you were closer then I'd be happy to show you how to do the belt.
-
Nice. How did you get 6.5" behind the standard pods?

That's exactly what I've done with the drawers - just not clicked them shut. That pic was taken mid clear out. It now has a ton of crap in there, two cars and three bikes. You can hardly move around anymore
-
That looks great. I'm not sure why I'm finding tool chests so exciting nowadays :) Anyway... My Halfords Industrials arrived this week and I cleared the garage for them today. One of the drawers was faulty so I swapped it for another at my local shop. They are surprisingly heavy and certainly more robust than the lower ranges of Halfords stuff I looked at. The drawers are also quite deep (ie front to back). I'm very pleased overall. The only thing I don't like about them is that the top box has a strange door locking mechanism. To unlock them you have to not only turn the key but open the top lid too. So while I've stacked some crates on top you can't do this if you want to lock and unlock the drawers frequently. The lower chest has a normal lock. The only other downside is that they are really just for tools and apart from the very bottom drawer there isn't much room for ad-hoc boxes. But as tool chests they are great. Something I noticed while transferring all my tools over from various cheap plastic boxes was that I'd not been looking after my tools as well as I should have been. Previously I've found it so frustrating trying to find the right tool that I'll grab the nearest one and make do. So living without boxes can turn into false economy as you end up buying new tools or even buying duplicates in frustration at not being able to find something.
