  1. Sure this won't be around for long. Wish I could justify buying it.

    Car Wax?

Thanks for that Sean, that is one SHINY Corrado! I won't be parking next to you at the CCGB National Day!

    Car Wax?

up to now I have used wax by applying and buffing by hand. having recently purchased a meguiars g220 machine and had a go at polishing with it I wonder if I can apply / buff off wax with it and if so what pad to use? or is using wax strictly a "hand job" ?

  5. Washed it for the first time in ages, polished the bonnet and front wings. Tried to stop the handbrake tunnel waggling around, found a little box involved with the alarm (proximity sensor I think) under there too. Having looked at Daves16v bracket it needs to go where this little box currently sits. Further investigation required.
  6. CCGB to purchase the equipment!
  7. When I had a full head of hair it was blond but that's as good as it gets. I'll have a go before I get there but if I still need help I'll bring the requisite tools.
  8. Do people come to these events "tooled up" - socket sets and screw drivers as opposed to "shanks" and baseball bats - to help adjust and fine tune minor problems for those less mechanically aware?
  9. Not seen Edd China's cut technique using lots of water before, although I have no experience myself. Seemed to do a decent Jon though. Waiting for a dry weekend to get my polisher out, hoping to do it before national day at Brooklands.
  10. Talking of wheels - just watching the one with the Porsche 914. What a job that old fella did on the wheels! Amazing!
  11. I've been quite happy with http://www.tuningwerkes.com in South Croydon - they have a mechanic that used to do pre delivery checks on the original Beetles and talked fondly about all sorts of VWs long since passed on - think Variant, 411e for example. Always have a range of cars old and new in the garage plus they work on SEAT rally cars having to get software updates from Spain - which impressed me I must say!

  13. Portent is right on this. I have spent a lot on my car but I suspect it is "worth" less than I paid for it despite me improving its condition. Just look at the advert LauraJ has posted for her Black VR6 with heated leather - £2500. It might well be snapped up at that price as it is a well known car on the forum but could equally sit around and then be sold for less. I hope it gets snapped up for a fair price. I'd love to buy it myself but can't justify it. I'd like the leather interior . . . .
  14. my dad had one of those
  15. The Sagem box is from 2006 and I can't remember it costing much. I have one of those powered aerials that plugs into the mains and has the rotating disk but it's a bit old too. Suspect I need to bin that lot and buy a new box and aerial and hope for the best!
  16. I have rescanned and come up with NOTHING.
  17. Help me please. I have Sky in the living room so no problem there. In the kitchen we have old school TV, analogue using the aerial. A few years ago we bought a cheapo Sagem set top box that got us a couple more channels but reception wasn't great and it got stuck in the drawer. Now the switchover has happened and and the analogue signal has gone, out came the Sagem box but got NOTHING! Am I right in saying the minimum we need is Freeview with a one off subscription? So my Sagem box is scrap?
  18. Well pleased with my DG map and cams. Last I heard from Graham at DG it was not easy for them to get a decent deal on the cams and it was unlikely that they would be able to offer any more, but that was a while ago.
  19. As above go for something with the best combination of Service History Big ticket item work done like chains No or little rust No accident damage Replaced exhaust etc Some look for originality Others like upgrades (subtle or max power) for example I have Lupo wipers (that work in the rain), uprated headlamp loom (so I can see in the dark), map and cams for more power lower down the revs, short shifter for crisper changes, etc etc - for me air con adds weight and saps power and hampers economy. Leather seats look nice if looked after but are cold in winter (unless heated) and hot in summer. Oh and all my electrics work too! ---------- Post added at 10:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 PM ---------- And look at as many as you can - I bought with my heart, TWICE. First was a shed and the second is much better but have spent a fair bit to get it to the standard it is now.
  20. It's the Daves16v one ( http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?61985-Corrado-Short-Shifter&highlight=shifter ). The instructions are very good and apart from it taking me ages (because I'm a klutz) to grind away the bit of metal to get the pin out and a bit of fun adjusting things, the result is very pleasing. It really is a shorter throw up and down. Second to third is brilliant!
  21. Couldn't make it but was there in spirit as I spent the afternoon doing things to the VR6. Sunshine if Corrado weather! I hope to make it to the Brooklands day in May.
  22. fitted short shifter - crisper shifts fitted new gear knob - smarter interior fitted new exhaust hangers - less wobble and no banging from the exhaust!
