The part of the body where the rear badges are will become a weak spot if the plastic lugs that hold the badges on are broken . Water will penetrate there .

This must be caused by the light cluster leaking then .

Difficult to tell , but is the last picture showing where the light cluster fits Jim ?

As above please . The plastic half turn fixings that hold the long cover in place on the boot lid . Mine are a bit sketchy and I'm missing a couple . These are no longer available from VW Heritage . Kind regards Rob

The screws and fixings that fit in to the splitter itself are available from the steelers Sean , for about a tenner . Worth getting if yours are a bit sketchy like mine were .

No mate , they can't be made either apparently , something to do with the thread type . I only have to of these fitted , but along with the new ones that attatch the splitter to the body it's rock solid and not going anywhere .

I'm about in mine , mostly weekends and the occasional evening . Who will be doing the bodywork Dave ? .

I don't have much of a clue when it comes to suspension , bushes n stuff . I got a second hand beam that's ready for powder coating . It was poly bushed , I removed these and intended to refit them . I don't think I will now . I don't push the car hard so I would not really know if it handles well or not on the way it's set up now . I was talking to some friends about this the other day , you get used to your own car and how it handles . Someone could get in my car drive it and say it handles like a bar of soap compared to their set up .

I will check this Jim , thanks . I did have a few droplets of water on the rear seat , but I think it was down to the condensation box falling over , it spilt in the boot too . It was sat on the parcel shelf I had forgotten to remove it when I drove the car .

Sorry to keep jumping in Carrots , we both have the same problem and rather than run two threads ,i hope its ok to join in this one . Ive removed the plastic cover which covers the motor and the tiny rust scab i have looks to have been caused by something scraping on the paint in the past . Its not caused by the condensation . My rear light rubbers are in a1 condition , the badges are bonded on so i have no holes . The boot rubbers seem fine too . Rob

Top quality plugs are always best , but I can't see a new set of any make of plug causing a misfire . Less expensive plugs won't last as long that's about the only difference . I take it the other tests you have done , have not sorted it ? .

I've got the willkingsons boxes in mine . It's a plastic box with with the crystals in , same thing really . I've got to sort mine sooner rather than later . I'm stacked with work though , so hard to get time to do what I need to do . Interesting about the washer , my rear wiper has stopped working too .
