Thanks for getting back to me Stuey and Quicky , how much for yours Stuey ?.Im still deciding weather to get mine repaired or get anther one , if i get mine sorted i get to keep the super chip .But there are claims of them comong back not fixed or people claiming to have done more work than they need to do . I hate not knowing whose working on my stuff . The company i spoke to said it can cost anything up to £160.00 , thats for a full rebuild , but whose to going to know if it has or just had a small component replaced ? Rob

I think my ecu is faulty , I can borrow one to check , it will be from a later car though . I was going to have mine repaired as I didn't want to loose the super chip , but am hearing lots of horror stories with them coming back and still not working . Rob

Remove the fuel lines from the rail to make sure you have fuel . Top the bottom one is the return line . When you have taken off the top one , crank the engine and check for fuel. The bottom one should also have fuel in it . Also check out robrados Rado non starter thread for plenty of ideas .

The chip has been on the car for over 8 years Sean , i have a receipt for it upstairs but the name escapes me at the moment .

Had the auto electrican round today. With all the undertray out he began testing and looking at the wiring .The immobiliser was the first thing tested and found to be suspect ,so that was sorted out . After that it started ,then it would not . so the fuses relay and wiring to the ecu was tested and we found power going to the ecu . But when we tested the ecu there was nothing on the multi meter . So the conclusion was that the ecu is shot . Ive put out a wanted thread for one , when fitted i hope it starts and this will be the end of all . Rob

As above please ,the engine one , i will put the part no , we all know what an ecu looks like but just to make sure its the right one .021 906 258 b ,also has 0261200493 above it . Many thanks Rob .

Sounds like a right mare ! i wouldnt mind if i just drove it and never looked after it ,but im always replacing stuff and doing bits ,its always been serviced as well .

Thanks Rog , you have been a great help mate thanks , hope i can repay you when you need info or help as long as its not electrical lol. Thought i had it nailed too !. I have just spoken to Devon dub shack , he put me on to the electrician they use , he said , he would always recomend him Vw is his main area , he knows his way round a vr6 too. And he is cheap . I spoke to him tonight and he said all being well he should be able to get here on sunday . HERES HOPING Rob
