  1. Oh yeah! One other recent addition- a Votex (Nardi) 3 spoke steering wheel. I used to have one of these on my old mk2 vr6 and loved it. Regretted letting it go when I sold the car. Then one came up on eBay recently, so I had to get it. They were available from VW Dealerships back in the day I believe, so it is almost OEM! It is identical to this one:
  2. Thanks Sean. Yeah I have decided to keep the car and keep trying to improve it each year. I have come quite a long way with it already and there isn't really much else I would want car wise to replace it. It ticks all the boxes for me as its performance is great, it looks good, it's easy to work on and it's got the rarity factor these days too. I was a bit annoyed with myself for not dropping the axle and getting it powder coated, but figured i can do it another time. Another thing I did when the rear silencer was off was to bash a big dent in it to stop it knocking on the shock bolt- after fitting the Eibach on there, the bolt sits closer to the exhaust. I just hope the dent is big enough, but won't know for sure until I take it on the road next.
  3. I have spent the last few weeks underneath the vr, cleaning up everything back from the engine Bay Area as that was done only a year ago. I removed most things from underneath, everything except the axle basically. I chose not to remove the axle this year because the bushes were replaced with Genuine Vw items not many miles ago. I think I'll drop the axle next year or the year after to get it powder coated. In the mean time it has been repainted in situ using Hammerite smooth black. I have removed the stainless Magnex system and polished it up as it was starting to look a bit sorry for itself- it had been fitted to the car for ten years though, to be fair! It has cleaned up nicely and given the system a new lease of life. The floor pan has been cleaned up and painted using underseal with waxoyl - this area gets exposure to bumps and scrapes, so I wanted it well protected. The boot floor was cleaned and found to be perfect, so I have left it as it was with the factory underseal on show. The fuel tank straps have been powder coated, along with the disc heat shields and numerous other metalware from around the car's rear. I replaced both rear flexi hoses and any metal pipes as required. A new fuel filter was fitted along with the newer style plastic filter holder, to replace the rusted old one. I bought three cans of Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 and pumped all the cavities and box sections full of the stuff, it goes on really well and is so much better than waxoyl imo. I also pumped it into the wishbones and subframe and cross member up front as realised they would be starting to rust from the inside out after they were blasted and coated last year. So the underside of the car is nice and clean and protected now, which is nice :) I repainted the mk4 rear calipers and fitted new discs and pads to finish the mechanical work. Next up I shaved, sanded and painted the rear lights to all-red spec... They look ace! - I will post some pics as soon as I have cleaned the car- it's currently pretty dusty and filthy from being sat in the barn. I will probably do a few more jobs on it (maybe a sunroof swap if I can be bothered) and then put it back on the road in the new year when the weather starts warming up again :)
  4. For sale is my Momo Jet Steering wheel. It is in excellent condition, having under 10,000 miles usage. It includes the VW large spline boss and horn press. £100 delivered. PayPal gift preferred. Will consider p/x with a vgc standard vr6 wheel. And can get better photos if required, once I've removed it.
  5. What timing! It was only yesterday that I realised i'm going to be needing a pair of these too while stripping the axle down on mine. I'll definitely have a pair of you're getting some made up
  6. I have a pair of 312mm carriers which are surplus to requirements. I had these, along with the calipers powder coated, but am sticking with 288mm. Low start bid :-) http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121468912202
  7. That looks great Sean, so shiny! [emoji106]
  8. Feeling pretty pleased with the latest addition to the Corrado.. An audi S-line gear knob and gaiter :-) After a bit of faffing around, it fits beautifully. Here it is: The car will be coming off the road at the end of the month as the tax is running out. I'll use it as an opportunity to do some more tidying/painting/polishing under the bonnet etc.
  9. Mine has arrived too. Agreed about how thin it looks, but I'm sure it'll be fine once fitted. Thank you Em :-)
  10. Would love to see what they look like actually fitted to a Corrado!
  11. The later ones (after '95 iirc) have 288mm front brakes too, which are a great upgrade on the Corrado.
  12. I'm surprised at just how many inaccuracies there are throughout the magazine. The celica 3sge engine definitely uses a timing belt, not chain! Also, I was just looking at the staff car sagas and Sam Glover's Mgb gt6... 0-60 is apparently 7 seconds, which is identical to the 0-60 they have for the Corrado vr6.... I'd love to see that mg try to keep up with a vr Corrado!
  13. And I'm interested in the Motorsport coil pack if you could do a deal :)
  14. Hi there, what condition are the aqua door mirrors and rear spoiler in paint wise? Also, I'll take the scraper seals if you still have them
  15. Just came across this and found it quite amusing... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171417750102
  16. I did my CBT last Wednesday! I nearly put up a very similar post to see how many other bikers there are on here... I have just bought a cbf 125 to get some practice and experience on. It's great fun, even though it won't do much more than 70! :-)
  17. It does sound like slave cylinder or the rubber hose (which is part of the slave too) may have ballooned.
  18. It does still sound very much like the issue I had. It drove me mad for a while, because it wasn't making the typical noise a cv joint makes when on its way out and there were no visible signs of anything rubbing or catching. But it did happen at the same point every revolution and increased resistance slightly as it made the noise. If you can't see any other visible signs of anything wrong, it might be worth a try. Obviously check the splash shield for rubbing first as Sean said and also the abs sensor as cinadine said.
  19. I have had this before on mine and it ended up being the cv joint (outer)... Although mine was making more of a creaking than a grinding!
  20. Payment sent, many thanks. And just to confirm, it is a vr6 liner I'm after. Cheers!
  21. Am I too late for this? If not I'll have one with no emblem. Thanks
  22. Nice one, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
