  1. Yeah - it was horrendous. I think it won't be quite as tedious on the VR6 somehow but easy to put back if it sucks! :) Cheers Andy - I will have to go have a go at my airbox then!
  2. Just in case you didn't know these are in stock at VW Classic Parts in Germany for £66... so you may want to come down on the asking price a bit!
  3. Does the snorkel in the VR6 airbox simply tap out?
  4. It's not really for taking around or doing any serious work on.. it's for when I don't need to fire up the main PC at home, for watching Netflix on, for plugging into the stereo and using Spotify, etc etc :)
  5. Precisely what I'm looking at replacing it with mate :)
  6. Recently acquired this when on special offer at PC World as a taster for a tablet and decided I like them enough that I want to move up to something more powerful. I've only had it a few weeks so it's in immaculate condition, comes with the box and original charging / sync cable which is unused. RRP now is £129 (I think), I paid £99... yours for £90 + postage! Pre-owned ones are going for over £100 on eBay so this is a fair price! Cheers.
  7. I always said I'd never change the wheels on my Corrado for Solitudes or Speedlines. But if I didn't have a paintjob to save for, and various mechanical maladies to sort, I honestly would buy these. Have a free bump.

    Drivrr's door handle

I was going to say - might be worth getting the daves16v legendary door handle repair kit rather than keep buying old ones which are just as prone to fail again? :)
  9. It'd be amazing if they remanufactured a run of those. God knows what they'd cost though! :)
  10. Not as far fetched as you might think I'm afraid ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_New_Beetle#Beetle_RSi_.282001.E2.80.932003.29
  11. Nice to see something that was destined to be broken, saved and given a new lease of life. Good work. Looks very nice and clean in a fresh coat of Alpine White!

    Nice engine looks

Elbow grease, degreaser, trim dressing, being willing to replace various parts, and possibly strip / powdercoat / paint other parts is pretty much what you need!

    Haters!!!

Can't say it's ever been a problem for me to be honest!
  14. Definitely one to read over a few days on lunch breaks and stuff... I skimmed the first few pages in disbelief!
  15. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=148000&page=1 I can't even put into words how incredible this is.
  16. Guess they've got to keep the shareholders happy. And make sure the senior management get a 33% pay rise or whatever insanity it will be this year. The sooner more and more big corporations flop and crash and we go back to small, independent businesses, the better.
  17. My only advice is - if you're claustrophobic, avoid it.. once you're in the scrum of people at the market you can barely move - I can't describe quite how busy it gets!
  18. I know it's an endlessly long debate on PistonHeads but as I say - I just had enough of dreading the snow every year and reasoned that as they'll only be on the car for 5 months at a time (also reducing the wear on my road tyres as they won't be used for 5 months) they essentially won't cost me any more over a period of 3-4 years. Just the pain of the initial outlay. Even if we have two weeks of inconvenience of snow this year, I'll be happy to have paid for the full winter tyres.
  19. To be honest I only went down in size to save money. The same tyres but in 18" would have ended up costing me the best part of £800. Screw that.

    Dreaded Chains

Get the gear linkage checked / aligned and try a gearbox oil flush too - might help the gear change situation! Redline MT90 or Silkolene SynTrans are the two gearbox oils to try :)
  21. I'd have said winters were a necessity in your village Wendy, especially given that road up to your place - it's near vertical!
  22. I justified them by telling myself they'll extend the life of my 'normal' tyres and should last a good few years - so can write the cost off over a few years!
  23. Mine were not £50 a corner either :|
