LOL! We often complain about the quality of some cheap parts over here but normally they'll at least fit the car and last 6 months! That's unbelievable!
-
Welcome to the forum. Post up a picture - one of us might recognise it!

Had also been thinking about Nav or something else (carputer?!) in that little binnacle for a while.. be interested to see what folks come up with.

Late Headlight Switch....New Batch Delivered. Fit All Corrado's.
Jim replied to 8vMatt's topic in Forum Group-Buys
Me please! One headlight switch. Sterling work on organising this - what this forum is all about :) -
I think I should buy a set for 2cc... :)
-
Done!
-
Might be worth calling Stealth Racing as they used to do the BMC packaged up with a fitting kit for the VR6 which included the bits that you needed! :)

Disconnect the cold start injector tomorrow morning and see what happens....

I wish i could buy this new for my Corrado - tell us and let us ask VW!
Jim replied to Andy@VWH's topic in Suppliers Forum
Apparently the Corrado VR6 radiator was obsoleted by VW. I think we'd like to be able buy these still and one was certainly on my shopping list in the not too distant future... -
Welcome aboard! Sounds fantastic! I think one thing some of us are interested to know is what is the situation regarding body panels? We know they were all pressed by Karmann. Do VW still have these presses? What are the chances of ever getting new panels made and what is the likely minimum order they'd need before they even considered doing this?

Please PM me and I'll try and help you with your problems using the Classifieds feature.

May need to speak to him soon as corroded brake lines were an advisory for me on this years MOT!
-
I think if you arm yourself with the Bentley manual for the Corrado, and the Peter Russek book and refer back to the forum for any other direction, you won't go too far wrong! :)

I have seen a G60 Turbo Corrado.. JabbaSport did one and we saw it on track at Mallory Park a few years ago at a VW track day. It was incredible. I think it was putting out over 300BHP and was well sorted chassis wise, etc. It was absolutely flying round and left a lot of other stuff in its dust!
-
Not sure about that! Bear in mind a decent second hand G-Lader is going to cost you the same as a good condition 1.8T engine... and that's before you get into all the other ancilleries and stuff you'll need to replace. I reckon assuming you were doing all the work yourself apart from any fabrication stuff, your costs would be pretty much the same no matter what you do! But if you do down the 16VG60 route then that's always commendable as doing something a little out of the norm!
-
Will be expensive but possibly worth getting to put away.. I'd provisionally say I was keen!
-
I think it's debateable whether there are any real benefits of doing something like creating a 16VG60 unless you want something that is unique and "period" for the car and you want to keep it fairly original (which are perfectly acceptable reasons IMHO!). However if you simply want power, it's arguably going to cheaper and more fruitful to do something like a 20vT transplant.

Thankfully I'm no more than 45 minutes from DG Autotech and 30 minutes from Stealth Racing. I have on occasion used a local garage and been quite pleased with the service I've had but certainly is reassuring to know that if something comes up that I want a VW & enthusiast minded eye to look at, I've got options!

If you have access to ramps it'd make things a heck of a lot easier as you can sort of jack the back of the car up and leave the axle in place and just drop the front of the beam down to do the bushes. The method we used when we did the ones on my old 16V seemed excellent.. simply powerdrilled out the (f*cked) rubber inserts and then took a hacksaw to the metal collar.. after carefully cutting through it, it eventually "pinged" out of shape and we were able to just pull it out, then insert the replacement bushes with the VW tool!

Sigh. A what price thread becomes a covert sale thread immediately. This is why we don't allow them. Locked.

Glad you had a change of heart. If you do manage to scan stuff in, I'll be sure to scan the two articles I bought from you to contribute!

Always liked this modification on the Corrado.. :) Makes the front a bit more moody :)
