  1. Seems pretty fair. I'll be looking in the £2k price range but am staggered at what you can buy for that sort of money!
  2. Going to be in the market for a daily barge soon (next month or so hopefully) and a Golf or Bora V6 4Motion was one of the many cars that were running through my mind as a possibility... mind if I ask what it set you back?
  3. Very nice! :) How does it drive?
  4. How about we don't spam a newbies thread with irrelvent and biased opinions! The 16V's are great fun still, and arguably the most reliable and affordable to fix / run. The G60 gives a little more grunt. The VR6 is more refined and even gruntier but is a touch nose heavy. So it really depends what you want from your Corrado. Not as much grunt and sharper handling, or the superb VR6 soundtrack and still impressive performance at the trade off of it being a bit more boaty in the corners. I'd say just buy the best can you can for £2,000 regardless of the model.
  5. Which 1.8 are you looking at? The 1.8 G60 or the 1.8 16v? :)

    VR6 Badges

My Corrado has both the chromed script rear badge and grille badge in good condition. I'd be willing temporarily donate both for comparison, etc provided they were returned undamaged! And similarly I'd be quite keen to buy some of the reproduction items once done! ---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:19 PM ---------- Regarding the company name could you just post their details up and we can all have a punt at finding who they are, and locating their info..
  7. 5.40pm, A45 in Coventry, just passing the Phantom Coach pub.. older chap in a suit driving an Ice Grey VR6 on Speedlines. Never seen the car around here before so could only assume it was "through traffic" - didn't see me as I was on the opposite side of the carriageway!

    re map results?

Admittedly I do have Schimmel cams in my VR, but the DG remap totally changed the character of the car with lots more bottom end grunt. As Cazza has said, not sure on what the situation is with VR maps any more - whether Graham can still sell / do them for folks or whether Dave can sell them seperately to you, but as a very satisfied customer I'd highly reccommend his map!
  9. Yep... have certainly heard of the term before and heard about it being used to directly relate to a proper sports / supercar. Went to look at a Porsche at a specialist a few years back with a friend. The guy was saying how one of his customers had bought a brand new 911 Turbo and proceeded to use it, literally, to pootle to the shops and back. It started to develop some running "issues". He sent his mechanic out for a look - no faults showing up, no sign of any obvious problems - so basically instructed the owner to take it out for a proper thrash.. half an hour later, problem cured! Car running perfectly again.
  10. Nicely done. That was a fair old slab of work you did there! :)
  11. Make sure you clean the mating surface when you remove the old one so that it's nice and clean and smooth and the gasket stands a chance of sealing!
  12. How do you get through the MOT with the wheel protruding out of the arch like that..?

    Bvf 2011

I think some of these people need some lessons in how to run businesses! (Eric..?! :)) The only way you're going to get the punters is to encourage lots of nice show cars, and lots of traders. When you price the shows unattractively for the people who are showing their car, and you make the prices so high that it discourages the traders, exactly what have you got left to offer the public? I was fully intending to break my BVF camping "cherry" this weekend but an unexpected last minute change of plans put paid to that - so apologies for being a no show! Next year... next year... assuming there is a next year.
  14. Buggery :( I'm off up in Glasgow that weekend :( Make sure you get lots of pictures mate :)
  15. Drove down to Bray in Maidenhead on Friday evening and then back here on Saturday morning and didn't see another Corrado. Saw all kinds of other nice motors on the way - BMW M5, Lambo Gallardo, etc... no Corrado! :(
  16. Only thing with this Tim.. if the discs are warped, should you not really be listing them for sale?! :)
  17. Colour is an interesting one. My VR light switch goes orange, and my 16V one goes green.. and they're both later style headlight switches! I'm not too worried what colour it illuminates to be honest as long as it works good :)
  18. So will this be a direct replacement for the Corrado item or is the wiring going to be different?
  19. Price seems very fair to me. Keep us updated.. definitely in!
  20. Agreed.. looks pukka!
  21. Very true :) It has bought me a lot of pleasure over the years.. be it taking it back to Germany and round the Ring, or just as an excuse to get together with friends and work on it :) Will be sad to see it go.
  22. No indeed... I've never bought these cars as an investment or anything. They are my hobby... but essentially since 2006 when I got the car, and only taking into consideration purchase price of the car and and what I've spent on repairs, i've lost something like £6000... :|
  23. I wouldn't say I got what I wanted for it.. in fact I was slightly shocked at how little 16v Corrado's are going for. But given it's currently SORN and without an MOT, I had to come down on the price to make it attractive. Ho hum. Lost so much money on that car it's almost not funny.
  24. Neil - nothing too drastic. A few simple jobs, handbrake imbalanced, and a nearly perished bush on the ARB.. nothing too dreadful :) Will get onto them soon. In other news, had a forum member come and view the red Corrado and offer me my asking price. So sadly it'll be moving on. On the plus side it will mean I can garage the VR and start saving for paintwork and stuff that I've been wanting to get done for ever.. and just use it for shows and on weekends, etc :)
