    Gear knob size

What is the size of the gear knob and what fits... The one the previous owner had on is hideous, and I was hoping to find something like an S3 one, or maybe just a golf one... would these all fit? I've never fitted a gearstick so not sure if its all universal or not. Thanks in advance!
  2. I got it working, its slack because the end that goes into the cockpit was on the floor in my attempt to open it, It seems you have to pull it at a certain angle to pop it open.. This is why when I was pulling from undernear it wasn't happening. So all in all, it was just the level that had gone, the cable and parts are all ok! So I have re-threaded the wire through to the cock pit and for now, using molegrips to open the bonnet by pulling on the wire until i work out a solution for the lever! Thanks for you help though guys!
  3. God yeah I agree... didn't like those inpros at all!!! Turbo? LOL I think its not worth turboing the BF for the money spent I could 1.8T it!!!
  4. Right, I managed to get the bonnet open I was pushing it towards the wing!!!! I don't understand how it works, or why its not working though.. I'll let the pics do the talking... When I pull on the release cable only the passenger bonnet pin opens...
  5. On the back of the clocks you *may* have a air pipe. Some of them do (some are electrical controlled). Sounds like your vacuum pipe on the back of the dash has popped off. Take the bottom of the panel off the dash (under the steering wheel) and you should be able to reach up without taking the clocks out and pop the pipe back on.. This happened to me!
  6. Just pop the bonnet someone plleeeaaaase :(
  7. Green VR6 at Ashby Folville last night :)
  8. Thanks Tom! You have a PM.. Its weird that my clocks have the diagram for the outside temp but dont show it as I go through the MAF (everything else does).
  9. Thanks matey, I'll give it a go tommorrow then!!
  10. Ah right, I have an ABF engine and currently using the original clocks (1.8 KR). The MK3 clocks obviously don't fit.. so just looking for some Corrado Clocks, and thought, be nice if I had outside temp.. The current clocks work on the vac pipe. So I spose the question is.. What features on on what clocks... (on a corrado) :)
  11. Ah ok I'll give that a go, wont it be towards the wing? When you pull the level in the car does it not pull that thing towards the wing... Thanks for the heads up though. Maybe I have been pulling the wrong way!!
  12. MY mate is sorting the paint out on the rear spoiler for me now :) Now I just have to fix my bonnet release which has decided to snap on me :(
  13. Are all the clocks interchangeable if you also use the loom then? And do only VR clocks have the outside temp? I need new clocks anyway as mine are humming :(
  14. Could anyone pop under the hood and see how the fan is connected up please :)
  15. So i went to use the bonnet release yesterday and I heard a PING and the lever was moving freely....I then looked on here and saw guides about trying to get the bonnet open.. I have managed to get the end of the wire out of its housing from jacking up the car and pulling on the far right side so i effectly should be able to pull on it, and it would be like pulling the lever... It opens the passenger side, but not the drivers side..... I have also got someone to push down on the bonnet while pulling and then let go in the hope the drivers side pings up, but to no avail... Has anyone else got any ideas?
  16. haha and the massive pot hole (that I go to the other side of the road to avoid)
  17. Hey Alex, As above you only need 3 wires (2 really but one is ignition) All the others are extra... Multimeter is gonna be the only way... Brown / Black earth Red is ignition and yellow is permament live. So yellow only goes live when the ignition is on.. Sorry If you know all this already :)
  18. That was me mate! I gave ya a thumbs up! Nice to see you were holding up the traffic on the bumps :) Oh dear, If I had seen you I would have helped! Where did you break down?
  19. So at the moment (so I can drive the raddo) I have made a switch so I can turn the fans on to cool the car down when sat in traffic. I wanted to do this the "proper" way, but since the engine conversion I don't seem to have everything I have the loom and it has the following: | FAN PLUG | ---------------------------------- | Switch in radiator | -------------------- | Plug | Now I have plugged it all in and then gave the "plug" some 12v / earth and the fans came on straight away... So I assume the bit I'm missing is the fan controller? I thought the switch in the radiator did this, am I wrong. If so I will have the controller somewhere, I just don't remember removing it... Am I right in thinking I need a fan controller?
  20. How did the MOT go??? :) I rememeber the MOT after the engine conversion.. worrying times when your car has been off road for so long
  21. Its still not very warm, and not very powerful on the blower, so it might be worth replacing the motor and the heater matrix at some point :) ---------- Post added at 10:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 AM ---------- Bodged!!! ---------- Post added at 10:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:08 AM ---------- So i've cleaned up the terminals and taped the blower up to there is no gap... I did find this cable, and I don't know what it is or where it goes (it comes from the back of the car down the drivers side door
  22. Wahoooo its fixed.. I took some photos so i'll post tommorrow, but the plug that goes tot he motor is a bit crap and wasn't on properly (its cracked). I black taped it on properly.... and also black taped a loose earth that was freely wigling around behind there... :) 1 new fuse, it didn't blow :)
  23. Yup, I did also do a engine conversion recently.. so could err be ANYTHING :) I'll have a look, Thanks for your help Alex :)
