Dinkus could you please verify.....when you say turn the ignition on, do you mean turnit so the lights come on (or do you mean actually start the engine?) From the post I read it to mean that you start the engine, then turn off the engine but so that the lights are still on? After all, how would anything happen if you switched the lights on, then switched them off completely (as thought the key was not in the ignition) and then expect the fan to come on after bridging B and D on the cable? Sorry, just need some clarification....after all, I've tried bridging the black cable that controls the stage 3 fan before and nothing happened (even though my stage 3 was working at the time!) cheers.

well I put my new thermostat housing and seals on the car, and thought I'd try out the fans after clearing the fault codes (ABS ones) with VAGCOM........and now none of the fans come on!! At least before stage 3 was working...now nothing! Back to the drawing board :scratch:

Well I bought meself a soldering iron at lunchtime, and I've got the fan controller off the car....any idea how I open the thing? :scratch: :scratch:

No still waiting for postie to deliver my ODB cable.....hopefully it might turn up tomorrow or staturday morning :) Will take off the controller and have a look inside that as well... I assume it's self explanitory getting the thing off?

ok I am so confused with this.....I've found the correct connecter....just near the bottom of the battery....but no matter what I try bridging, I get nothing...... but asisde from then, even when I bridge the two points in the black tem sender, the stage 3 fan does not come on?????? but yet I know the stage 3 fan works, because when the car gets up to around 115degrees it comes on....so why is it not working when I bridge the two connectors? All I get is a weird clicking noise from the rad controller box near the coolant bottle? makes no sense to me :(

ok well I managed to eventually get the thermostat housing out..... the seal rings around the edges have completely worn away (you can see the bit of the rubber dangling down in the pic!) which will hopefully explain the reason I am losing coolant fingers crossed! The seal around the plastic that holds the thermostat itself has also withered away so will need replacing I popped the thermostat itself into a pan of boiling water and it opened and closed ok, so guess it should be ok, but the rubbery seal around the top of it is looking a bit battered (not sure if you can make it out properly in the pic below - its a bit of a manky brown colour) - can i buy this seperately or do I need a new thermostat?? Anyone know how I can test the blue/yellow temp sensors are working correctly, now they are out the car?

Anyone know what this cable might be? It was hanging loose near the Yellow/Blue temp sensors

Ok after looking through the "cooling thread" sticky..... I realise theres an issue with the fans.....seems like only "stage 3" fan works.....ie when it gets to 115degrees the big loud fans kick in :( So I have a coolant leak and a fan issue! :gag: I've had this car for less than two months and already its become the least reliable car I've ever owned! Still wouldn't change it for the world though! :D :D

Hey guys, I've been having an issue with the Corrado getting pretty hot (especially when sat in traffic!) often up to 110 degrees plus. It tends to drop back down to 100 degrees or so when driving normally, and down to maybe 90 when on the motorway. Now I don't have any steam or anything coming from the engine......but the coolant level seems to be dropping (having to top up ever 3-4 days) so am guessing theres a small crack or leak somewhere. Found a good thread about rplacing a thermostat housing here: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55166&hilit=thermostat+housing with tips how to replace the housing, so have just ordered a new housing, seeing as it could most likely do with a replacement anyway! My questions are: 1. What does the blue temp sensor do? and how do I know if my one needs replacing? 2. Same question for the yellow temp sensor! :) 3. I've heard debates about getting a 70 degree or 80 degree sensor - seeing as I mostly do motorway driving, does that mean I should ge the 80 degree one?? 4. based on the problems I've described, does it sound like replacing the thermostat/housing/sensors and checking for any cracks in pipes and leaks around o-rings will resolve the issue with the cooland level dropping?? Sorry for being a complete div.....I really am a novice when it comes to car engines (but am enjoying the learning curve as I go along :) )

Last I heard this was now on a Volkswagen Transporter van (waste!) Anyone know the owner of this van, and why doesn't he sell it??

Has anyone swapped the entire shell of their corrado? I have little dinks and donks on practically every panel, and wondered if it would work out cheaper just to buy a new shell? Anyone ever had this done?

Guys forgive my lack of knowledge around cars, but can anyoneone first of all help me identify what this is hanging down underneath my car (seems to be hanging too low to me?) and secondly, if it is hanging too low, any suggestions on the best way to fix it? :D cheers

done the bowden cable this morning! :D Thankfully I didn't have to take the whole dash out.... Just removed the drivers seat so I could lay on my back.... then onhooked one end of the cable (up near the clutch) and retainer clip, then took out the passenger shelf and the car stereo.....then from the passenger side, stuck a flat blade scredriver up to the retaining clip to pop it off, then fed the new cable through and put it back together. Loads of stratches on my hands, and the dial is still quite stiff when twisting to screen vent, but at least it works properly now :D

I have a corrado storm and the ceiling inside (which is some kinda off-white colour) is really grubby. Any good tips on getting nice and clean again?
