  1. Cheers for that mate, it's a great help.
  2. Ok, in that case it isn' the secondary pump. My mate says that first thing in the morning the car squeels and it seems to be coming from the alternator side but he thinks that it isn't the belt? The noise stops after a few seconds or so.
  3. My mates been told his secondary water pump is knackered (making a right noise). Anybody know how easy it is to replace on a VR6? Cheers in advance Tom
  4. I live just outside of Reading, the "so called" specialist who worked on my car is in basingstoke.
  5. What do you mean by a genuine 2ltr. I have a shed load of documents to say that the engine conversion has been carried out and it does state that it is a 2ltr. Sounds like i'm going to have to get this sorted sooner rather than later.
  6. Ahhh...pants! That'll explain the problems i'm getting then. Ok, i'll start back at square one and sort it out stage by stage. I'll contact some of you chaps in the very near future if that is ok and see if my car can be set up correctly. The car has got a big spec but to be honest i think it should be a lot quicker than it is.
  7. Ok, cheers for the help chaps. I'll try and increase the fuel pressure in the one i have got, if i get stuck i'll give you a shout mate. Tom
  8. The CO pot is set to 350 ohms? Do you know what it should be? I'll buy a 3.5 FPR and check the plugs tomorrow. Where is the best place to pick up the 3.5 FPR?
  9. It only does it when i first accelerate, through the revs it seems fine. As far as i know i have just got the standard injectors. I don't know much about the car as i haven't had it long. I will check the vacuum lines tonight, where does it go to the ecu? I haven't actually spoken to anybody from sns, the chip was in a mates car which was scrapped at the weekend. We took it to a G60 specialist who fitted it for me and set the car up, although he was unsure of what to set the timing and CO to. Cheers for the help so far chaps...
  10. Alright chaps, I put a 65mm pulley on my 2ltr G60 at the weekend along with an SNS chip. It was set up buy a G60 specialist and made a shed load of difference. The problem now is that when i first put my foot down, when accelerating hard, the car hesitates before picking up. I have read posts that suggest to use a 3.5 bar FPR but i want to know if this is a symptom of the 3.0 FPR. Any help will be much appreciated Tom
  11. Cheers mate, i'll check out those letters out when i get home and tell you tomorrow. Thanks again. Tom
  12. Cheers for the reply mate. The car is a mk2 but it is blue. I had a chance to put the cable box in but couldn't afford it at the time. I had a 16v before this one, second gear seemed to go on and on but in my g60 i find i'm working my way up through the gears pretty quick. As i said i'm not sure if this is a bad thing but i'm not sure if i'm utilising the cars power as when i change gear the gear i'm changing to starts at about 4000rpm which only leaves me with 1800rpm until i have to change again (i don't redline the car). Cheers Tom
  13. Hi chaps, I have a 2ltr G60 with various mods but i'm unhappy with the gear box ratios. I don't know what box the car has in it but i do know that it isn't the standard box. I seem to be changing gear far to quickly through the revs, ie the car hits 5800 rpm to quickly and then when i do change up a gear i'm aleady at 4000rpm (obviously this is when accelerating hard). I can't help feeling i'm not utlising the cars power with these ratios. I have heard of close ratio/ low ratio/ high ratio boxes but don't understand what this means or which one i am after. The top speed of the car is 125mph (this is where the car red lines) but the car has so much more potential to go way past this. I would like a gear box where i don't have to change gears as often and hopefully get the most out of the car and improve my terrible fuel consumpsion. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated as this is driving me nuts. Cheers Tom
  14. What do you suggest i use? The noisy top end will quieten off after 5mins of driving. I want an oil that will reduce the rattling when starting from cold.
  15. Now i understand, so the 15w40 actually won't help with the rattling i get from cold starts. I'll swap it for the 10w40! Cheers for that mate
  16. Sorry to keep harping on about the oil but i was given some magnetec 15/40 oil this weekend. Is this too thick to run in the G60? Cheers Tom
  17. After reading this thread i have decided to put semi sythetic in my G60. I have noticed though that on these cold mornings it has become increasingly noisier at the top end. Is there any way to remedy this or will it ease off when using the semi sythn? Cheers Tom PS, i have no idea what oil i have in there at the moment.

    Giro Valve

Does any body know where i can get a good quality giro valve from for my G60? Also, will i still need this if i am to remove the boost return pipe? Cheers Tom
  19. Cheers for the reply chaps, The engine was taken from a rallye and has had a capacity increase. It is running a 68mm pulley, M-R G-ladder, cat by-pass, and a jabba chip. I haven't had the car long so i have no idea if the chip has been set up correctly. I took the car to a G60 specialist at the weekend because the car was not running quite right, it was pinking slightly when i took it in. The mechanic is unsure what to set the timing up to and what to adjust the A/F to. The knock sensor was found to have a damaged lead so that was replaced and he set the car up. Since then however the car pinks badly only under load. To be honest ther fuel pump sounds sweet but i will check the delivery pressure. I would like to fit a sns stage 5 chip and get the car set up correctly. Have you guys any idea what i to set the timing and A/F to in the mean time? Thanks Tom
  20. Hi chaps, Just wandering if anybody can help me with my G60 golf. The engine is a 2ltr rallye with a cat by-pass. The engine pinks all the time when driving despite replacing the knock sensor and trying different fuels and addatives. Each tuner i take it too seems to set the Fuel/ air and timing to different settings. Does anybody know what these should be set at and if this will cure the pinkning problems. Cheers Tom
  21. Alright chaps, I have read numerous posts about removing the boost return pipe. I would like to do this to my car but still don't understand the benefits of it and how to do it. Like i said in my previous thread i would like my car to have these mad howls that i hear so often from some show cars. What benefits wil i see from fitting a gyro valve as well???? If anyone can shed some light on this i would be grateful. Cheers Tom
  22. I bought the car from a mate of mine who is a G60 specialist in basingstoke. He build the engine and i believe that M-R are a dutch company who specialise in the G-lader. I don't know that much about G60's at all. Is this pipe a standard fit?
  23. Yeah, it was the no-rice meet in guildford. What is a no re-cic pipe? I'm not sure what stage the charger is. It is an M-R G-lader charger. Cheers Tom
  24. Alright chaps, I feel as if i am gate-crashing your forum being a golf owner but i need some help. I recently went to a vw meet and noticed that some corrado/golf g60 superchargers made some great noises. I can hear my supercharger slightly when i change gear but i would love it to sound like these cars at the shows. I have a jabba induction kit, chip and pulley. Are there any mods i can do to get this awesome sound? Cheers Tom
