i had thought about where to hide a release button on the outside of the car, but decided i'd rather just have it on the keyfob since its virtually the same thing, except one of them requires extra crap on the car, which i dislike. if i can make a button flush with the bottom of the mirror i may consider this, except that i'm also considering M3 mirrors... mayyybe. as long as a have a spare keyfob (which i definitely will) i will always have a way out of a tough situation. the knocked-out-in-the-car thing is a bit of a concern, but not a major one. if its really that bad they'll just bust a window. i think i'm going to go ahead with it as soon as i can find the parts and the time :D

i'm not concerned with being legal, rather, being safe. so, if i'm stuck inside and the guy outside can't find the little release button hidden by the mirror, how does it help me? it doesn't.. cuz he still won't be able to get the door open. :? i thought of doing the release button thing, the guy helping me has this on his '78 trans am, and another friend's dad has it on his '70s custom-bodied vette. the idea is to hide it from thieves, so if they can't find it, the guy trying to get me out of my crashed C won't be able to find it either... :x not too sure what to do now...i thought i had it all figured out! ..maybe i just won't crash the C, hey.. great idea! :D

you can take em right off and fill em in.. i've seen this a few times. looks a LOT sharper. and iceman, you can shave the door handles. what you do to get your doors open is up to you! i'm in the process of sorting that out...just realized it might not be all that safe. http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=825 getting back to the roof strips, i can get them cheaper than £48 from the stealer, but i'm in canada eh so shipping would cancel out any savings you would get..sorry! :?

good points guys.. hadn't thought of the accident bit of it. trying to block that sort of thing out of my mind for the C! however, i've seen a few .. at least 3 or 4 Cs with shaved door handles, and other cars with this done as well. so over here it might not be illegal. i'll look into that. but even if it is legal, you make a good point.. i'd rather not be unconscious or something and not have people be able to get me out...... i'll have to give this some thought. i've been in many accidents.. many.. (none my fault) but i've always been able to get myself out, even when my friend hit a neon head-on and rolled his van without my seatbelt being on. but maybe next time i won't be as lucky.. cuz that's all it was, pure luck that i wasn't mangled. well, mangled more. seatbelts are a good idea! :( but even then... the people outside couldn't open the doors, i had to kick the back doors out and drag my buddy with me......so i wonder if its an accident that bad if the doors would open anyway...even with proper door handles. not really something worth gambling on though.. :? i'll be turning this one over in my head, thanks for the good advice guys! anyone else?

that's polishing though right darren?..not chroming. i might consider polishing now... i just ruled it out when i started getting $2500 quotes for chroming.. hmmm.....

that was the concern brought up by my friend who will be helping me with it. i figure that if this happens i can make a little L-shaped plastic piece that will fit in the door crack and can be used to pull the door open for a little extra oomph if its stuck... hit the keyfob and pull the door at the same time. i'm hoping this will be rare, or never at all. i don't drive the car in the cold months and it doesn't get as hot here as it does in spain!!! ..although i have noticed it sticking a few times. good.. if you think it sounds ok then i'm a lot more confident darren..i thought i was gonna get flamed for this one! anyone else see a problem? thanks guys! :D

only places in the US are in california i've been told.. nothing in or near canada! :x i looked into this and its damn expensive.. you'll have to really love those rims!

i've been reading over the posts about alarms as i've been trying to decide what to do with my alarm this spring. i have a clifford, but its toast. because of this.. i wanted to stay away from clifford and was leaning towards viper. but that's not the point... no matter what alarm i decide on, i want to shave off the door handles and trunk button and install a system that will *always* lock the doors when they are closed..because there are no door handles, and without the keyfob, they will NOT open as the locking mechanism will be changed (no coat hangers), inner and outer handles removed, etc i've seen kits that release latches and pop open doors remotely for around $400. i will provide a way to charge a dead battery without getting under the bonnet..at least enough to trigger the doors. so if you're thinkin i'd be knackered with a dead battery, that will be taken care of. i figure this way.. the only way to get in the car without the keyfob is through a busted window... and if some bastid wants to slice his balls all to shit for a shot at stealin my car, well i'll give him a go... still won't be able to start it with the alarm engaged tho! i'm sure some of you foresee some problems with this setup and i'd appreciate comments before i dig in!

i've heard the hoses are a bit of a hassle to get in.. haven't done it myself though. if it were me, having a beater to drive around, i'd just pop off all the hoses and put it back together bit by bit.. but if you're not sure you have the right set, or knowledge to do this, i wouldn't start taking the car all apart, especially if it leaves you stranded. while the rad is drained flush it out real good with a hose, just stick it in the overflow, and let it run through and out the bottom. might want to fill the car with water, drive it around for a bit, then empty and flush again if you want to be really thorough. good luck :D

i think corrados look best slammed as low as possible on 17s.. 18s would be nice but way harsh on ride quality and pocketbook..and you'd be slower off the line! i'm on 15s now..keepin em but with $$ rubber this spring. i think 18s are just too much...and don't you have cobblestone roads and shit like that over there??? :?
-
yeah, its definitely all the sex in the back wearin the shocks.. lol! i'm gettin koni adjustables when i find the bling for it. heard good things about em.

-
lookin good in the car darren!! what i wouldn't give for an ic from a euro diesel van! keep the pics comin! :D

could spray em.. can get cans of tint spray for $10 over here.. like 4£. or you can mix some clear with black paint, or any other colour..my friend did the taillights on his shaved mk2 golf in bodycolour, looks better than i would have thought. very nice. could do the side repeater bodycolour.. just a thought. i don't like the smoked side repeaters on my car.. looks a big dodgy.. like there's a hole there or something. :? ..but hey wait.. this is the euro forum huh?.. you guys have proper back fender side repeaters!! those would look nice smoked i bet. 90G60

what's up buddha. nice nick. i'm feelin the cold too man.. we've been getting -30C with windchill up here eh. no chance of getting the corrado outside in this slop. kevhaywire, we get shortchanged on engine's because our roads have low speed limits to accomodate all the idiots over here.. and because we're cheap so the faster/more expensive stuff doesn't sell as well. cheers.

my friend has the 140hp 2002 model. its nice and fast and feels good to drive, but i think its way underpowered for the money compared to the new stuff coming out. if i was going to get one it would be nothing less than the 190hp GTS version. too much money for an average car. i think i made him feel bad when i beat him in the G60... which is paid for, not just with a downpayment on it 8) side note tho... old Celica GT-Four's look nice and are worth every penny imho.. turbo awd for cheap!!
-
i've seen turboed vr's over here... but a supercharger is usually more practical for most people to upgrade to. i'd go with a sc if it was my vr.. and about the 2.8 and 2.9L vr's sharing parts with the 3.2L, i've read that very little is interchangable, and that the block is not interchangable. someone will probably find a way to mad-scientist it all together tho.. its a vw. :D
-
good luck.. let us know how it goes. i have to do this when the weather gets ok here (we got over foot of snow over the weekend...) i heard its a bugger of a job.. vw charges 8 hours for it. :x

i'm bringing mine into my mates shop in a couple weeks. doors/hatch/bonnet off, bumpers and front end off, interior and glass out... sides of the engine bay out too. gonna strip it down and do the body mint.. shaved door handles and side trim. trailer it to a booth....i don't want to mess about with metallic pearl paint! the guy i'm working with has been a vw/audi body guy for 4 yrs.. and i'm still not getting him to paint it. you get what you pay for with auto paint. i'd do the prep and pay for the paint if i were you. i'd also wait a while for the interior if cash is tight.. that's what i'm doing. ...and two months man?? i've been waiting.. lemme see.. 18 months. so put a sock in it eh!!!

'90 G60.. 204,000km and i don't need a stereo cuz the engine sounds the SHIT :D ...maybe i'll put a deck in this summer... maybe

some things will never change. beat the bastid until he can't remember who beat em... if you're lucky enough to catch em. i had my car in storage and this happened, walk-by scratch from a screwdriver or something... and i mean, theres maybe 5 people at the most who come through there... no one would admit to it the bloody twits. :x
-
vw sell it... if you're friends with their bodyshop guys!!

After market Exhausts and Lowered C's How to make it work!!
G60 replied to G60Jet's topic in Engine Bay
mine has been fine.. only problem i have is the single mount at the back... it needs two. i did a quick fix with some universal gas tank strapping. from the street it looks great, doesn't shake over bumps and is centered in the opening at the back. from under the car it looks like crap.. so i will put up a new mount when i redo the exhaust. :D -
Need advice and tips on repairs I'm about to do
G60 replied to PhilsLadyC's topic in Suppliers Forum
i dunno munkay.. i cracked open the front end and did cv joints the first week i had my c with no experience.. i still have the mindset to save money. maybe some people are just more mechanically inclined. i'll be doing poly bushes, wheel bearings and koni adjustables all around very soon. i have a few different cars i can drive while i mess with the G60 tho..if you need your c to get around maybe a garage is a good idea.. or borrow mum's car. it helps a lot to know the exact procedure and possible problems you might run into before you start so you can buy/find what you need to overcome problems before you take your car apart. it also helps to have a friend who's had mk2 experience! i would say that you better have a bar, impact, heat, something for those bugger bolts.. :x -
no way! i'm sick of roccos... i always have to hear about them when people say "is that like a scirocco???" when i try to tell them i drive a corrado! :?
