any links to pics/specs dubboy?

well the tensioner is easy enough to deal with... some people use a big clamp to relieve the tension on the belt (proper way, you can rent an equivelant to the special vw part at some auto stores)... some people use a couple of huge gear clamps... some people just loosen the tensioner bolt and carefully slide the tensioner off of it. never changed the pulley on the charger... you might want to try loosening the bolts holding it on before you remove the belt... squeeze the belt around the pulley to try to hold it in place. dunno if that works in this application.. works for some other pulleys. anyone know the proper specs or a part number for the belt for a 65mm w/ AC? i have the stock one on there right now and it buzzes like a mofo at idle and slips when i pump the accel. bad news. :?

is there a site anywhere online that sells the clifford 300, or 200 for that matter? ..preferably in north america? i doubt you guys can help me but i can't find anything... maybe i'm just slow.. :? ..runnin out of time now. want the car out in 12 days.

looks giant and fugly to me. :x
-
think those are just standard M3 look-alikes, aren't they?
-
i dunno andi.. i think amber bulbs would help a little if the signals turn too red. maybe not. you could always start tinting them... and in between coats, hook one up to the car and make sure its still orange enough... then stop before it gets too red. might not make the tails as red as you would like, but its better than the nasty orange. :?

i've never done this, i'm just relaying info from my friend who works body at vw/audi..he used clear so that the paint didn't dim the lights too much. he used clear and his signals still looked fairly green..but he wanted it like that. looks good. if you use solid paint you also won't see any of the reflector pattern stuff under there.. it will be solid paint, you won't be able to see through it. also, the clear allows you to put on thinner layers at a time (well, same thickness, less red) so you can go slow and fine-tune how dark you want it. i'm not sure what type of paint or clear to use.. i leave that stuff to him, but i'll try to remember to ask him what he uses. i'm not sure if its necessary for them to blink orange over there, it isn't here. red is fine (many north american cars share brake lights/signals..so if your brake light is out, so is your signal, get my drift?)... and technically white is legal too. when i paint the tails, i'm leaving the reverse squares white so i can wire those up as the signals, and have white signals all around... i like the clean look of it. esp on a light (silver) car. :thumbleft: ..also, i think it is illegal not to have a white reverse light. i may be wrong.
-
first, take the lights out of the car and sand down the writing on there. you can tape off the white reverse sqaures if you want (i do). mix your red of choice with a lot of clear... put it on in thin coats until you get it how you want. you can also put a few coats on the bit that is already red to give it more of a uniform look. if you want the top to blink red instead of orange, the paint will help, but get some red bulbs as well. i dont think in pro makes red/red tails.. and even if they do.. i've heard the stock hella lights are superior quality. i will be painting the lights soon.. i'll take some pics and post how it went. :D my friend painted the taillights on his mk2 golf.. made them green to match the car. looked v nice with the shaved hatch. you can wax and polish that too..

don't bother with the stealers. waste of time... if its a reasonable price, it will be a shite car... if its a nice car it will break the bank. thats what its like with corrados/stealers around here anyway... even if you go to a private used car place its like that. private sale only for me. try searching classifieds online... and get the word out on this list for these guys to watch for ya.. chances are they'll find a minter for ya. good luck. :D

thanks kev. :D the reason i want to do this now (and quickly/cheaply) is that the 3rd synchro went just before i put the car away... and any shift out of second above about 4500-5000 RPM makes the damn thing grind. drives me feckin nuts. it needs a rebuild anyway... but i'd let it wait until next winter if the 3rd didn't grind. anyway.. i have all the part numbers for synchros and seals from ekta. i'll post it all here when i get around to it.
-
why not 65mm darren? can't you handle the massive amounts of boost?! :pukeright: haha i'm just messin around. seriously though.. why would you say 68mm is prefered... its all just RPM... so if you don't rev the shite out of your charger with a 65mm pulley... then its totally safe, and builds boost faster. ..am i wrong? oh, and nice choice baz! :thumb right:

92 i think...stock brakes are very good on G60s.. i wouldn't worry about upgrading them yet. the stock gearbox will handle 200bhp no problems, as long as its in good shape and the synchros are ok. you might want to start considering a new clutch around 190-200bhp.. but if you're not going too much higher than that, you can buy a VR6 clutch for a lot cheaper than a racing clutch, and save money for the charger rebuild since the VR6 clutch is all most people will ever need. not sure about a comparison to the 16v... we only got G60 and VR6 corrados over on this side. good luck, G60s are fun cars!! 65 or 68mm pulley, 3.5bar fpr and an sns chip and you're laughin! all cheapy upgrades. :D

would you trust this man to work on your car ?? lol
G60 replied to W3RKD's topic in General Car Chat
leaky silencer box ant.. i'm stuck right at 12psi with it, which i think is where you were before the RSR.. you need some shorter legs or raise your car man! :thumb right: -
hmm.. it didn't get a turbo over here... and they are all driven by girls..... i've learnt which cars are always driven by girls so i don't miss out on the hot ones! :D
-
my buddy has a 240sx... he can spin em rolling anywhere in second.. but he can never pass my G60 at any speed.. his car is fast. 200sx is a chick car.. at least.. i've never seen a guy driving one over here, and they are everywhere.. usually purple with pink and green graphics. whats the 0-60 on that??? sorry guys.. couldn't help it
-
did you put in VR6 front mounts? they sit higher than stock G60 mounts... this is why i'm sticking with G60 front mounts instead of using the superior VR6 front mounts..
-
jim: woohoo! i bet they'd look really nice. don't worry about it if you don't care to do it... i could do it as i have photoshop as well, just busy/lazy. lowG: :D
-
bah... forget what LowG said (sorry LowG! ).. just try it with some R34 lights.. that wouldn't be too hard i don't think. and... aren't those R32 rims 18s already? i'm pretty sure they are.. but what do i know?? ..i like the VR hood (see my pic), but on the pic you're working with... i like the hood you've used. ..R34 lights.....

kevhaywire: sounds like you did exactly what i need to do.. do you have part numbers for the lower ratio synchro rings, or would they be different than on the G60? i have ekta but i'm not sure if it lists these 'lower ratio' synchros. i'm dropping the tranny myself, then giving it to a very knowledgable friend with all the special tools, etc. not sure if he'd be up for bolting the diff.. but i'll run it past him. thanks. :)
-
r34 skyline lights.. exactly what i mean. sharp and edgy. give those a go jim! ..and hold off on sending anything into performance vw for at least a year or two.. i want to make sure i have the cash to buy the 'new corrado' when it comes out, or i may do something crazy like sell off my organs. thank you! :D
-
what are the main benefits over the 300? i don't need fort knox.. and i'm shaving the door handles as well.. i just want something that will make me feel comfortable leaving the car parked in public.
-
i think i still like the first pic best. other than rallye lights..you euro bastids who already have EURO lights have the best lights on a C imho. i like the E36 conversion too.. but again... a bit too roundish for the car i think. :?
-
hey chuck.. ya, let us know what you did! does your keyfob just trigger the latch for a second and you have to grab the edge of the door?
-
nice features! ..exactly the reason i want to go with clifford. anyone have the concept 500?
-
very nice work. :D i would change the headlights if i was actually going to make an 'R32 corrado'. the corrado's lines are a lot crispy and sharper than the golf's bulgy roundness.. the headlights are just too round for the corrado's lines... imho. love those rims! ..are they a straight bolt-on to 5-bolt corrados?
