  1. That would be me! My first spot on here!
  2. Great stuff - it's clearly owned by a C-nut, and looked to be in good shape. He came up behind me as I got onto the M25 around the A1 junction, I pulled off at the M40, so who know's where he was off to.
  3. Too right! I can't believe anyone on here is doubting the mighty 'rado! Seriously though - first corner, give the Mk 1 some room ;) Who knows what it's going to do, straight on; lift off over steer; both - your guess is as good as mine. One things for sure, it's not going to turn in like the Corrado can! Should be a right good laugh though....i've always fancied a trip. That e60 sounds awesome!
  4. I'm going to stick my neck on the line, and say that round the ring the Corrado will have it hands down. The Mk 1 sounds like it will be a handful in the corners, all 147 odd of them! No matter how quickly it can accelerate, if it has to slow to a walking pace to get round the bends it doesn't stand a chance. The Mk 2 will be a close second, but I don't think the gain in power over standard, and slight weight saving over the Corrado will be enough to match the Corrado's far more dynamic chassis. The power to weight ratio will be similar, but the corrado (I would have thought) has a lower centre of gravity, better handling, probably a wider track, and don't forget the spoiler.....!! Drag races off the lights, that's probably a different storey.
  5. A white Corrado on the M25 (L35 WAG), anti clockwise at 5.30/6.00 ish. You pulled along side, gave me a wave then pulled off. I followed you until the M40, although it was dark so I don't know if you realised. Never driven in Corrado convoy! Nice looking car, and cheers for the wave - you cheered up my drive no end!
  6. Hi All, I could do with some help/advice. I'm trying to revert back to a standard airbox. My VR came with a K&N cone filter, so I don't know whats missing. I've bought the airbox from StueyB (recieved with thanks), however, the connections from the back of the box to the MAF look different. The box has 2 screw fittings, where as the MAF has 2 slots. It looks like there is a collar missing....any suggestions? Also, at the front of the box there is an ovaloid air intake, which presumably hooks up behind the headlamp - is there a seal, or connector, or does it just butt up to it? Finally, the 'snorkle', is this the plastic cylinder inside the box itself?
  7. I've recently noticed similar, I think i've sorted the problem (leaky windscreen seal), but have ordered one of these to dry the car out. http://www.amazon.co.uk/ThoMar-5217007-Car-Dehumidifier-Air/dp/B000XUPEJY/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1355742335&sr=1-1
  8. Cheers both - they move, somewhat erratically, but they move. They don't seem to heat though - will get the multimeter out and see whats what...
  9. Sorry for the hijack, but my heated mirrors have never worked, suggestions gratefully received!
  10. If you decide to split I could be interested in the rear shelf. In no hurry. Cheers
  11. Ordered! Can't wait to get it, thanks for organising this.
  12. Cheers Kev - have you tried the B12 kit? Any idea of what the ride is like with it?
  13. Hi StueyB, have you still got this? Am looking to replace my K&N cone filter with standard. Thanks
  14. Hi KUR2Y, I'd like one of your looms please - Please can you PM me with info you need from me, and your paypal details. Thanks
  15. Jamie, Thanks for your reply. Sticking with the standard ride height is a serious option - I reckon the guys at VW probably knew what they were doing! However, as mine is quite a late car, it does seem particularly tall....So, for this set up presumably i'd keep the current springs (or after 140k is it worth getting new as well?), new std dampers (sachs/boge whatever?) new bushes and ball joints, and a new rear ARB (that is fitted as well as the existing one, correct?). I guess what i'm trying to achieve is OEM+ if that makes sense - what the storm always should have been, a mildly uprated VR6.
  16. Morning All, The time has come to tackle the ageing suspension on the VR. I've trawled through this thread with interest and just wanted to confirm my thinking. Kevin Bacon - Your views are much appreciated (as you are now endorsed on the EE advert, and clearly connected, i'm sure you'll be along shortly!). What I want out of the upgrades is a 'fast road' set up, its got to cope well with bumpy B roads, corner like a house fly and be comfortable. My driving is a mix of long motorway hauls, ring road session, and country lanes. I very occasionally take the VR out on track, but am not aiming to build a track weapon. Its a road car. I mild drop would be nice (25-40mm max), but this is secondary really. I'm not fussed about having adjustability, I just want something thats spot on out of the box. On my most recent MOT a lot of the bushes were given as advisoraries, along with the ball joints - not bad for 140k, so all of this is going to get done at the same time. This however does mean that the budget for the new kit is not going to stretch to the KW V2's or 3's. So as I see it my options would seem to be the Bilstien B12 kit, which sounds exactly what i'm after. The KW V1's seem to make a lot of people on here happy though. Are there any other set-ups I should be considering at this sort of price bracket - about £150 a corner? Out of these two i'd really appreciate thoughts/comments/opinions. Cheers Matt
  17. I'll have one of these please - with drill and tap. Thanks, Matt
  18. OK, So last night I attacked the car with a multimeter and a friend who is more knowledgeable on car electrics than I am. Firstly we tried removing the positive battery connection and wiring the amp meter in series. We couldn't get a reading. We then took an interior bulb and wired that in series as a check. With the alarm on the bulb flashed in sync with the dash alarm led. With the alarm off the bulb didn't light. We then checked the voltage of the battery which was reading at 12.3V. We then fired the car up and took another reading across the battery at 14.3V, so it appears to be charging. Any thoughts? Sound like a dud battery to me.... ---------- Post added at 9:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:15 AM ---------- The battery has gone completely flat several times. Most recently when it has done it only requires a 10-15 min charge and the car will fire straight up again.
  19. Kevin thanks - that was my suspicion despite what Halfords have said. I'll check for an excessive draw just in case, but I think the battery is toast. Halfords are normally pretty good at exchanging knackered batteries, unfortunately once the car is going and charging it I think it 'reads' as being fine, so they won't exchange.
  20. Ok, so i've got a bit of an odd starting problem which i'm hoping the collective Corrado Forum mind might be able to shed some light on! My VR6 seems to have stopped holding electricity. The battery is a pretty new Halfords battery. I've been to Halfords and had them check it. Its apparently fine. The symptoms are as follows: If I use the car day to day it is fine. Starts first time every time. If I leave it for a week the battery will go completely flat (not even clicking when you turn the key). Plug the charger on for 10-15 mins and the car will fire straight up (not just turn over a bit and reluctantly start - I mean fires straight up). You can then drive it for any distance using as many toys (stereo, seat heaters, the lot) as much as you like. Turn it off and it will start straight up again. What I don't understand is how a 10 minute charge can be enough to get the car to jump into life so readily? I've checked that there is nothing silly remaining on after turning it off (boot light, stereo etc). I've checked the battery terminals (tightness and corrosion). Next I was going to disconnect the battery for a week after a good blast just to check if the battery is holding charge - worth it given that Halfords have run their diagnostics on it? Following that I was going to get a multimeter out and see if there is any drop across the system? Any other ideas? Thanks.
  21. What condition is the bodywork in - bonnet and wings specifically, but also interested in the doors and tailgate? Only interested if rust/dent/scratch free to avoid the need of repainting mine! Thanks
  22. Dragon Green - this looks great, just the solution i've been looking for! What prep work did you do before applying the Lamin-x? Did you sand and polish of the hella text? Was it the Subtle Tint film you went for, what size sheet? - you've got it just right by the looks of it. Thanks.
  23. Is the registration plate the original/been on for the car's history? The only thing I can think of is that at some point its had a private plate on it, but the original wasn't retained. When the car was sold by previous owners they transferred the private plate to a new vehicle and bought/acquired your current registration, hence the mis-match.
  24. Hi there, if this is still available I'll take it, pm me your details and i'll paypal in the morning.
  25. Hi there, whats this come off - late or early? A bunny recently lost a fight with my lower grill.......
