Thanks all,
Looking back i paid somewhere in the region of £650 for this car in 2010 ( a used supercharger costs as much today) - a last minute ebay bid after having a quick chat with the seller. cost roughly the same again to get it to this side of the irish sea.
Although quite a bit of money has had to be spent on it
Mileage when bought it had just turned 108000 today its around 110000 - just the occasional summer weekend run out
Came with stacks of paperwork including service book and a computer print out of all work carried out by VW.
Unfortunately i have lost a lot of pictures of its restoration but have managed to retrieve some so will upload them as soon as i can

It is worth having a check of the sunroof. Just remove the inner trim panel, then unscrew and remove the outer panel. You can then see what the cables are doing. It can be wound manually from the motor.
Be nice to have it all working
During its restoration i did remove it stripped and cleaned it using the approved grease but its 30 years old !!

Had a few hours to spare today so took my g60 out of its hibernation and give it a quick blast
upon start up it stalled as i believe the cold start kicks in but another turn of the key and it settled to a nice steady idle
Checked the electric items all ok with the exception of the sunroof - awaiting failure to be honest.
Here are a few pics.

A sorted 16v would hammer it but the 4 wheel drive is unique especially when throwing it in to corners
i was told these cars were hand assembled as most were to be destined for motorsport until the rules changed as the car was launched making it an absolute failure for VW and that does not happen very often for a manufacturer to be caught out.
I still cant believe i traded one for 4k in 2000 with a spec identical to that car
Yes Keyo i to love boxed arches.

bizarrely i have been speaking to Zak over the last couple of days
he is ok for doing another run of looms but we need to hit a minimum of 10
same deal as previously, IE due to his offshore work commitments being rather random & sometimes lengthly there would be no specific lead time, it could take a month or it could take 3
i will assist by organising things on here & will also do the leg work regarding the OE connectors, which i believe went down well with all of those who had a loom last time
i will try & make time to refresh myself on all the costs etc, update here & then we can get the ball rolling in the new year
oh & happy christmas to all by the way
i up for one possibly two Thanks

part number refers to mk3 golf / vento will probably have been fitted to corrado as i would assume vw just fitted what was available during build.

Hello Cressa.
Can i ask which additive did you use - there are plenty out there no doubt some are good and do what they say while others are rubbish
Where i live we get super unleaded not super plus and i have noticed the labels on the pump show it has the same ethanol content as plain unleaded
As you my car is in storage for the winter and i generally only use it for a weekend blast and in the last 2 years i dont think it has done 1000 miles
i generally start it once a week to let it idle to temperature (if it sits more than 10-14 days it will not start with a flat battery)
Keen to start using an additive.

i wish there was an easy answer to this - we all need to find good parts hopefully at realistic prices.
would hate to see it open up like ebay - lots of s*it parts at unrealistic prices
If it can be open to past members i am all for it
i look through all the local ads etc to try to find those elusive parts
-
The car looks absolutely amazing - would love to have a drive in it !!

-
i will see if i can help - will be the weekend as car is now in storage and i go up on sat/sun to start it

Strange that as i would have thought all rear beams would be the same for all 4 cylinders
all rear beams eventually look like they have been siting at the bottom of the sea but they are a serious chunk of steel and should clean up ok
No problem with the front subframe
-
Hello Keyo
i have a front sub frame of a 92 9a valver - to be honest i have not really looked at it
if you want i will get it out and see how it looks

jesus i believe the world is going mad
Why are none runners, vandalised and project cars selling for the similar money as road going cars
There is a good chance that this car could be an absolute basket case especially if it is a stolen recovered car
is it a catgorised car??
i must admit i would buy it just for the seats not so keen on the wheels tbh
pity about the bonnet not being open - what are the chances of there not being a vr6 engine under there ?? just a vw 1.9d thrown in
What are the rules with copart if the car is not what it is supposed to be??
anyone bidding on this car should see it in the flesh first before bidding any serious money

I would dread to think how cheap the dealer got it for - the alarm bells read description key words- old lady owned over three decades - sold to us when passed away .
Has the magic in the centre console Cubby.

just noticed the number plate has issac agnew on it - a vw dealer here in belfast

Any time you see something dont be afraid to ask - where was the body kit listed - facebook??
The days of bullet proof engines are long gone all manufacturers now once out of warranty do not want to know - is this the new norm
what ever happened to good customer service - that incident you refer to is an absolute disgrace and the dealer / ford should be ashamed
-
Hello Keyo - sorry to hear about your van
Are these engines referred to as wet belt engines ?? and if so they have got a very bad reputation see youtube.
As far as i can see at the moment its pure luck with regards to vans - you either get a good one or an absolute basket case

No I retired in 2004. The Storm was my idea and I commissioned the photo. Oh happy days.
I am sure you are aware there is a UK Corrado Storm at the vw museum - something to be proud about!!

just shows even new / refurbished items can be faulty
Thanks all for your help,
After all that the car still failed its MOT - defective front lower ball joint - This car has covered less than 2000 miles since a complete
suspension refurbishment - the only thing i did not check over the weekend was the front end !
Forgot to add as i was driving in another corrado was just leaving a VR6 - first one i have seen this year.

Have not seen it yet so cannot comment and from the comments above its not great
On youtube i watch Italia autos with a guy called Neil - Alfa / Fiat specialist - always good content and plenty of rust!!
Also have watched M539 - seems to like BMW least favourite engine (V8) Car wizard hates the sight of them (oil leaks) - but great content and detail.
