1. 2.0 16v Moonlight Blue Corrado 1992 - 89, 409 miles Here is my 2.0 16v Corrado registered 1992 - J reg. I bought this car in 2010 and used it daily for a short commute to work. The car does not currently have an MOT (last MOT expired May 2013). It has some service history and I gave it a mini service shortly before taking it off the road (air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, oil change, new gearbox oil). It's in good condition considering it's a 23 year old car, no major dings or dents (that I'm aware of). It does have some minor surface scratches as can probably be seen in the pictures. It has a few small mods but nothing major. The exhaust back box was blowing in 2011 so I got it replaced with a stainless steel one from Powerflow. Again on the exhaust there was some blowing from near the cat pipe so I got the cat removed and a de-cat pipe fitted (car will come with original cat seperately as I still have it). It has had the standard headlight modification making the headlights brighter. It has the Lupo wiper mod which is a must! Inside it has a leather stitched gear gaitor, handbrake surround and rather nifty replacement gear knob that lights up in blue. It also has a volkswagen two cup drinks holder that I colour matched on the passenger side footwell. Mechanically it should be fine. I've got all the paperwork for anything it's had done. I tested everything yesterday and it all seems to be working fine. Both electric windows still work, electric tilt/slide sunroof works fine. Spoiler raises and lowers on the button (no reason to think it won't still raise at about 44mph like it always used to). Headlights, indicators, brake lights, wipers, blower all working fine. The tyres have plenty of tread on them. The car has a Clifford Thatcham approved alarm and I have all the fobs and all the keys. I just replaced the front passenger side suspension strut and top mount with brand new ones. That's all the good points. The not so good points are that it currently has a battery drain issue. I've done a few tests with the multimeter using guidance from the forum but can't figure out what the problem is. At the moment if you leave the car for more than a day with running it the battery has drained enough to not start the car. If you're handy with car electrics you could no doubt figure this one out with a bit of enquiry work. Or a car sparky would be able to sort it relatively cheaply. The car probably needs new brake pads all round. There is some surface rust on all of the discs because it's been sat. The rear bump stops have split. I have got new ones which will come with the car but I never got around to fitting them. Car also comes with brand new ignition switch, again that I never got around to fitting. The car has no stereo or front speakers as these were taken out to put into another vehicle. Sorry about internal pics, I will give it a good vac before collection! 2. Thanks for the replies. Can't wait to hear that engine again.
3. Right I've not been around here for some time. Basically my 2.0 16v Rad started playing up a bit in the first part of last year (some electrical issues and top mount problems). I think the last time I drove it was April possibly even March 2013 and since then it's been sat at the bottom of my drive (SORN) and I've not touched it since. A combination of using the bike to ride to work and then breaking my collarbone in Autumn last year meant I've just not got around to sorting it out. I've since bought a new car but I feel bad about the Rad and I don't wanna just sell it in this poor condition. It needs a new front shock absorber which I'll buy and fit, new top mounts which I've already got, new rear bump stops which I've already got then it will need a new battery and the electrical issue solving before it's anywhere near being ready to drive and be sold. Like I said I already feel bad about it being sat there for so long but now I wanna do it right as it was on my list of cars I always wanted to own and it didn't do too much wrong to me. I'm no mechanic but willing to do/try anything. So once I've done the above listed jobs what other things do I need to check/change/replace/lube before attempting to run it as I wouldn't wanna do any damage and I can imagine it's not good for a car to just sit without being run for so long?
4. Pilfered from another forum but this is some crazy stuff. Don't make me assume my ultimate form!! Lol. I like the way at the end the next customer casually pulls up... McNuggets Rampage
5. Lol. That's the exact Clarke mains impact wrench I've just ordered! Also bought some plusgas! I'd never heard of the stuff so I just had to have some. Thanks for all the advice.
6. Yeah it was definitely the right size, 7mm. I think I might try buying an electric impact wrench...would love an air compressor but really can't afford a decent one at the moment. Thanks
7. I was holding hex bit steady whilst undoing the nut on the top mount but it's now shredded and rounded off. See pic if that doesn't make sense. Now the whole thing just turns. Any suggestions? I don't have an air compressor so I can't just whizz it off. I'm a bit stuck.
8. Did you buy a new regulator and get this sorted? I'm gonna try changing the regulator on my alternator that's all. Mine's a 1992 2.0 16v with a Bosch alterntor but I don't think it's the same regulator that you've linked. The one that matches my alternator is this one
9. I'm in Beverley too. I will give you a wave if I see you but then I'll probably hide my face in shame as my valver looks awful at the moment. Needs a load of work doing and it will be sold in the next 6 months as I can't justify keeping it for my very short commute to work.
10. Ok I'm thinking that alternator I linked isn't the right one. Just trying to save some money. I'll probably end up buying one of those two suggested alternators...the £119 one looks right on the pic. Thanks for the replies.
11. Shamelessly pilfered from another forum. Funny.
12. Thanks for that reply. The word 'this' is hyperlinked! So I presume I'd keep my existing belt and change the pulley over off my old alternator onto the new one?
13. I was told by an auto electrician that I needed a new alternator ages ago and I've just got around to sorting it now. I was going to buy this as it seemed very reasonably priced but the bit about it accepting the 6 rib belt has slightly confused me. My current alternator belt isn't ribbed it's toothed (is that a word!). So a couple of questions really. Is this the right alternator? If so would I need to also buy a 6 rib alternator belt? Or would I change the pulley? I thought I had it sussed but this has thrown me into doubt so any help appreciated. I have used the search function at length but as you can imagine, everyone has had all different problems when fitting an alternator but I couldn't see any posts to help me.
14. Saw black rad yesterday in Bev near the level crossing on my way back to work. Not sure of model but looked tidy. I was almost too embarrassed to wave as mine is looking well tired at the moment and in need of some TLC. Didn't see a wave back. Only the second one I've seen round these parts.
15. This was posted on thesun today...if you were brought up in the 80's you'll probably find it hilarious and oddly moving as I did.
16. Ok, in the spirit of the season here's a festive one I watched last night. Rare Exports : A Christmas Tale. In Finnish with subtitles. A slightly different take on Santa Claus with some funny bits and some creepy bits. 6/10 Ho Ho Ho
17. I've got a new top mount to fit that I bought months ago. Couldn't get the top nut undone so gave up. It makes some worrying noises when going over even the smallest bumps in the road! Also got rear bump stops to fit, again been bought for months and not got around to it. Car has developed a few electrical gremlins at the moment and battery de-charges itself within 2 days of not driving the car. Maybe need a new altenator. And to top it off I'm currently without music after that mysteriously stopped working. Good job I only use it for a stupidly short journey to work and back every day. Oh and the cat went on the exhaust in the summer and I stupidly decided to get rid of it and just had a mild steel through pipe fitted. Wish I'd not as now the car sounds awful.
18. I know mine is a bit tight for space behind the head unit. You could try something like this
19. Just saw John Carter on blu ray. Wow. Thought it was excellent. Loved the characters, the story, the humour, the special effects, the whole package. I had an inkling this was gonna be good after seeing the trailer what seems like ages ago and it fully lived up to expectations. Any old school Star Wars fans I think will like it. 9/10 - suddenly I'm less worried about Disney getting the keys to the Star Wars franchise. Can't believe the last time this thread was posted on!
20. Open the google home page and in the search box start typing do a barrel roll ... something strange should happen. Sorry if this is a re-post but I just found out about this and thought it was cool. And no...there is no point to it! Merry Christmoose :reindeer: ***this may not work with IE but works fine with firefox and chrome I believe***
21. Earlier this year me and the missus bought her an imported Toyota Supra. As well as about £6 in english currency we also found quite a lot of Japanese coins in various places around the car. A small yellow and black feather was in the centre console. But the weirdest thing was under the passenger seat in a little compartment of the floor. It was a small red FLARE! We'd heard it rolling around whilst driving along. The bloke who we bought the car off was who imported it originally and he'd had it for 10 years and obviously not looked. We subsequently read up about it and found out that Japanese cars have to have these emergency flares in them. In a surreal moment just after I found the flare a deer casually strolled passed my house and carried on up the road!
22. Can't believe George Lucas sold out. I have this awful feeling that they're gonna ruin Star Wars. I hope I'm wrong.
23. Saw Looper today at the cinema...thought it was very good. Not too predictable storyline, very enjoyable. 8/10
24. I have front component Rainbow SLC 230's amplified by a Kenwood amp (KAC 7201). All was working fine and sounding good until the week before last when the speakers just faded out whilst I was listening to some music. I didn't have the music very loud at all, pretty low actually so I'm certain it's not blown the speakers. I think they're rated at 80w RMS and they don't get that much sent to them. I've checked the crossovers, the phono cables and the speaker terminals and all seems fine. The amp is getting power and is turning on when the head unit is turned on. I tried using some new phono cables but still nothing. I also tried swapping the the B channel on the amp and still the same. I know it's not the head unit as if I set the fader to rear the rear speakers come on fine (they're powered by the head unit). Fuse on the amp hasn't blown or the big fuse near the battery. It's a long shot but does anyone have any ideas? The only thing I can come up with is that something has gone internally on the amp. It is 9 years old.
